Kanye West will return via BET AwardsAn awards show appearance crippled Kanye West’s career. Can an awards show now help save it? The beleaguered rapper is set to return to the public eye courtesy of the upcoming BET Awards ’10, a rep for the network told CNN. “Guaranteed to be the biggest night in television, BET is proud to announce and welcome Kanye West to the stage; making this his first major awards show appearance since his appearance on the 2009 MTV VMAs,” a press release about the show says. “While West received much backlash and criticism following the VMAs, BET decided to give the multifaceted performer a spot in music history during its 10 year anniversary special.”
He is nominated for two awards, but no word yet on what song he will perform. West has been creeping back into the limelight very slowly. MTV reports that on Tuesday he performed at three Chicago high schools as part of the Kanye West Foundation's third annual Stay in School event. The BET Awards ’10 is set to air live on June 27 from the Shrine Auditorium Los Angeles.

Um. How did the VMA's cripple his career? You do realize that according to Forbes, Kanye made $25 Million last year, right? (Even more than Swift who made $17 Million according to Forbes). People have reacted way too strongly to this situation. On the list of celebrity screw-ups, his is -2 on a scales of (1 to 10). Swift was already a #1 star in her own right before the incident, but she became a bigger household name after the VMA's (you CAN'T deny that). People I knew, who never heard of her, suddenly became fans of her music.
And stop with the raicst nonsense. Kanye's not a racist. He works with white artists all the time and he usually sings the praises of White indie rock bands more than he does Black artists! Whoever is promoting that racism talk is probably a racist themselves.
All in all, he'll be fine. Swift will be fine and we'll all be less rich than they are (lol).

Hopefully he'll put the bottle down for good and stay off the sauce. He's really talented and all that drama made him look totally creepy!
I think he should stay behind the scenes as a producer. He obviously can't handle the spotlight. He is gifted and should use his talents for sure...just not as the main event...Speaking of gifted and talented, EMINEM ALBUM COMING 6/22! (Unless you already bootlegged it)
One little out burst and now he should hide under a blanket? Get real man, he had a few drinks and got caught up in the moment. He still has great albums out and still has the support of his fans. As far as being the main event, who is going to handle that while under the influence. Like I said, get real.

I am a Kanye fan. I thought the backlash was a bit much, BUT with that said, I also think he had gotten a bit full of himself. This time-out can only bring a new GREAT album. Like watching him debut Love Lockdown, I'm expecting to see to see something SPECTACULAR.

I wander what would happen if a white country star ripped a microphone from Jennifer Hudson's hands and then showed up for his Awards on the White Entertainment Channel. People would march the streets and protest for years. Somehow it has become acceptable for Black stars to do what ever they want and everyones too afraid to say anything.

what in hell do you mean by crippled his career. he took a break, cos he needed to figure out stuff, crippled? he was producing for everybody during this "cripled session" including himself. he was way back before the bet awards, please check your facts before.. "cripled" damn.
you are right in saying back for awards though, this is first award show since well....
Good for him and BET. He is a great artist and I would love to see him perform again.
