Even if you haven’t put a ring on it yet, all you have to do is take a look at recent news headlines to figure out that marriage ain’t easy. But imagine how difficult it would be if you and your spouse also have to deal with assassins out to kill you.
That's the plot line of the new romantic comedy “The Killers,” opening nationwide Friday, and lead actress Katherine Heigl calls it “a new twist” on nuptials and romance.
“I love the idea of exploring marriage in this big, broad, sort of farce way," Heigl told CNN. “I like the idea...of doing something that’s still romantic, still a comedy, but has a little bit of a twist on the formula.”
Meanwhile, Kutcher’s character is “living this kind of life on the wild side, and all he really wants is a normal life. I find a truth in that," he said.
Both Heigl and Kutcher have significant others, and the two have had to find ways to balance their relationships with their demanding shooting schedules.
While Kutcher is up front that he’s had to face reality that family time doesn’t get top priority while he’s working, Heigl said she and her husband “turn it into an asset and something exciting for the marriage, and something fresh and new.”
