The movie, directed by Mario Van Peebles, required the once-buff rapper to drop 50 pounds in order to portray a high-school football player stricken with cancer. Liotta will star opposite 50 – real name, Curtis Jackson – as the athlete’s doctor.
Moving on: James McAvoy has been cast as Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” franchise prequel, “X-Men: First Class.” In this movie, fans will see how Xavier formed the mutants into a group aiming to do good. The film already has “Kick-Ass” director Matthew Vaughn signed on to lead the feature, which is scheduled to start filming this summer, according to the L.A. Times.
Along with “X-Men,” there’s been plenty of buzz about another franchise in recent weeks: Wes Craven’s slasher thriller “Scream.” The fourth installment already has Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott, and casting rumors have included Hayden Panettiere and Ashley Greene.
However, it looks like Emma Roberts will be the actress to join Campbell on the vehicle, according to EW. She'll play Sidney's cousin, Jill, one of the heroines of the film whose role will be similar to Campbell's first portrayal of Sidney. The movie's script will once again be written by Kevin Williamson, but the plot is under wraps; production is expected to begin in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the end of June.
Kellan Lutz fans, get ready to hate on "Vampire Diaries's" Nina Dobrev. The actress has been chosen to play Lutz's wife in the action indie "Deathgames," also starring Samuel L. Jackson, according to THR.
The movie, which is filming in Louisiana, tells the story of a young man (Lutz) who's kidnapped and turned into a modern-day gladiator, forced to fight to death in matches orchestrated by Jackson for the amusement of online fans.
