Sandra Bullock snags MTV Generation Award

Awards season isn’t over yet for Sandra Bullock: MTV plans on giving the actress the MTV Generation Award at the network's Movie Awards on Sunday, June 6.

Bullock’s publicist has confirmed that the actress will be there to accept the award, although she won’t be doing any interviews. It will be her first public appearance since reports surfaced that her husband Jesse James cheated on her.

The actress, 45, will be the first woman to take home the Generation Award, which is given to a star who has “engaged the MTV audience throughout their career,” according to a statement from MTV.

Bullock, said MTV’s general manager Stephen Friedman in the statement, “is one of those rare individuals who is adored by our audience as both an actress and a role model." With the Generation award, the network is “Recognizing her remarkable talent, amazing range of films and her visceral connection to our audience around the globe.”

A few years ago, there was an interview with her that came about because it seemed that she just disappeared from the whole celebrity-spotlight. The interviewer was just soooo impressed by how smart she is (considering how beautiful she is). We here in Austin KNOW what nice person she is – she is just one of the neighbors to us; and we couldn't be happier (but we do wish she would bring Louie here!)

I'm sure she is a nice lady, but role model for what? There are volunteer nurses that have been working in Haiti for months now. They are role models. That's only one example. I really wish America would abandon its actor worship.

I am amazed that celebrities are considered role models. What is the criteria? being able to perform in front of a camera, make millions of dollars for those roles? what represents a role model should be a person who is willing to stand up for what's right as a selfless act, not as a publicity stunt.
Role models should not be people who represent nothing more than glamour and status. Sandra Bullock, role model? I think not.

Bullock donated $1 million after Katrina, Bullock donated $1 million to Haiti. Did you donate 5% of your total worth to each of those two causes? If not, you're not role model material, but Sandra Bullock is and always will be. She's done something and you took two minutes to write a bad note, wow you may need to rest.
