CBS cleans house for fall, shuffles schedule

CBS calls itself "America's Most Watched Network," but that doesn't mean they didn't see room for improvement in their lineup.

CBS unveiled a fall prime time schedule today that sees five of its most popular shows switching nights, as well as several long-running series getting axed.

Among the shows not coming back are "Ghost Whisperer," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "Cold Case" and "Numb3rs."

Reality stalwart "Survivor" now leads off the Wednesday night block after being a Thursday night staple since 2001.  "The Big Bang Theory" moves to Thursdays as part of a new, one-hour comedy block, while "CSI: Miami" looks to strengthen the network's ratings success on Sundays.

Check out the full schedule here:

Hopefully, another network would pick up Cold Case and let it stay on the air. I hope it wouldn't be CW since I'm flat out sick of hearing that CW song and video everytime between very long commercials and excessive cuts of shows. How about get rid of David Letterman and at least put him on the same network that carries the Maury Povich show? After talking stupid crap about the Palins, especially about one of the daughters, he fits in perfectly well alongside Maury! Aside from the crappy bassy audio CBS has, they're simply digging their own holes by cancelling good shows in favor of over-the-hill washups with another detective/Law & Order-wanna-be new shows that would make it a miracle for CBS audiences to give two craps about.

Notice how every single person complaining about Ghost Whisperer being cancelled is a female. From a male standpoint, the show was horrible. My wife tried to get me to watch it with her once, and I wanted to burn my eyes out with a blow torch. But the bottom line is, if enough people watch the show, it will stay on the air. Obviously CBS thinks more people will want to watch something different.

I can't believe that they cancelled Miami Medical!! Finally, I found something decent to watch on Friday nights after Numbers went off and they take this off too!! It was the only medical drama that I liked after I got tired of House on Fox.

    CBS... means can't be seen.
You have ruined monday and you can't compete now.
Between that idiot Jim Nance and you guys not showing golf till all groups are in to eliminating New Christine. This makes as much sense as a Obama second term.

Do any of you realize that you're probably the only ones that actually watched these crappy shows in the first place? Cold Case was the same show every week. They just changed the period rock song. Nobody watched Numb3rs and The Ghost Wisperer was already cancelled by another network. Face it people, if you're upset at losing these shows, you really need to turn off the TV and get out of the house more often.

NUMBERS IS A TRULY INTELLIGENT PROGRAM OF WHICH THERE ARE SO FEW . . . . SUCH A WASTE. WE'RE HEADED TO A TIME IN THE NOT TOO DISTANT FUTURE WHEN TELEVISION CONSISTS OF NOTHING BUT RIDICULOUS REALITY DRIVEL AND TALENT SHOWS. HARD TO BELIEVE THAT TELEVISION HAS COME TO THIS.

The network is taking a risk movin two of its CSI shows to weeknights that are notorious for their low numbers in audience. Hope it doesn't backfire on them.

"JMoney: Sad to see Numb3rs go..."

Truth be told, CBS actually wanted to cancel Numb3rs last fall but saw a hole in the spring schedule and signed it up for a final short season.

Don't blame the cancellation on the actor's moving on; the actors were just trying to stay employed in a world where over-paid nimrods arrange TV shows like poker hands.

    Its official!!

My house will no longer be watching network TV on Wednesdays OR Fridays!

This is great! Those highly paid network execs have FINALLY found a way to liberate us of the TV addiction we have struggled with for years.

We're down to two nights per week in my house. After Desperate Housewives, Big Bang theory & Two and 1/2 men are gone, we'll have to consider trading in the TV for a fish tank!

    So the current score is ABC = 1, CBS = 2 & NBC = 0.

p.s. Anybody who who likes the hit CBS shows of the past few years should take note that CBS lost a valuable person when Ron Scalera passed away last month. Mr Scalera was a huge supporter of many of the current CBS hits and one has to wonder if anybody remaining in CBS is capable of staying in touch with what the viewers want. Judging by this announcement, I would have to say not.

And I hope that CSI Miami makes it on Sunday nights I would hate for that to go, since it is the only CSI I watch all the time!

There is no explanation for what the network chiefs are doing. The Big 4 viewership is dropping while cable channels like USA, TNT, AMC to name but a few are bringing in bright new shows, clever year round scheduling and smart slotting. NBC – NoBodyCares network.
CBS -Can'tBeSmart and ABC-AwfulButCrappy are taking the few shows that they let build an audiennd splatter them all over. Cold Case, Law & Order, New Adventures of Old Christine and Numb3rs all had good followings and quality writing. A sure death sentence these days. Too bad, I had just got my rabbit ears digitially tuned and could view the networks...now all I need is my Internet connection and the networks that really care about me will get my viewing.
