Nadya Suleman: Only you can prevent pets from becoming Octomoms

Nadya SulemanBreaking: Nadya Suleman has accepted PETA’s offer to display a banner encouraging pet owners to spay or neuter their dogs or cats in exchange for $5,000 and a month’s supply of veggie dogs and veggie burgers, the animal rights organization has announced.

The offer was extended to Suleman’s lawyer Jeff Czech back in March, when the mother of 14 was facing home foreclosure after missing a $450,000 payment.

While Czech said he was offended the organization compared Suleman to a cat - in the press release sent to CNN, the organization said: “Who better to push the message 'Don't Let Your Dog or Cat Become an 'Octomom'...' than "Octomom" herself, Nadya Suleman?" – Czech said Suleman was open to the idea if the price was right.

Apparently it was. Suleman will “personally unveil” the banner with the message “Don't Let Your Dog or Cat Become an 'Octomom'—Always Spay or Neuter" tomorrow at her home in La Habra, California, at 11 a.m.

Hey, people you can't have it both ways!! You criticize her for taking welfare and then you criticize her for being resourceful and making it on her own. She made her mistakes and is now simply trying to survive! I think the PETA sign in exchange for $5000 worth of food to feed her family makes great sense. Especially considering what the sign says.
Go find someone else to pick and leave this woman to take care of her kids. Your negative comments serve no purpose!!!

PETA is so classless. How many animals could have been spayed or neutered for $5,000 plus the cost of those veggie burgers? I bet a lot more than will be "helped" with this sign. It's hard to tell who's the worse, PETA for their shameless, blatant publicity stunt, or Octomom for allowing them to use her for a publicity stunt.

What is her lawyer shielding her from in that picture? Like she is a celebrity? I dont even hate her. That just feeds into her whole "octomom" thing she has going on. I wish everyone would just ignore her for the next 10 years. Let's see how she's doing in a decade when no one gives her one iota of attention and she is dealing with 14-ten year olds. Ha. I just had my first baby. One baby. and I am about to lose my mind. Have fun with 14 dummy!

PETA does go a bit too far sometimes (no, Ben and Jerry's should not use human milk for their ice cream!) but I gotta say, this is a great idea. Catchy, tongue-in-cheek way to get their message across. And I think the fee is reasonable.

Please have your pets spayed and neutered. Also, fellow human beings, please don't have more children than you can afford to take care of without government help, use a condom or get "fixed."

Shame on her for using innocent babies for 15 minutes of fame. These kids deserve a traditional loving family....not a famed hungered mom.

Good for her !! She needs every dollar she gets to feed her kids.

I saw her interviewed recently and she regrets her decision to inseminate but has to live with it the best she can . . .

I think this is a positive thing for her. In some interview recently, she acknowledged that she was immature about the idea of having multiple babies. The deed is done; she has those babies. No point in saying she shouldn't have had them, or that she should be spayed. She knows it was a bad move. She's also acknowledged that she has no real skills for a job and that her options for providing for those kids are reasonably few. At least she admits that she's doing the only thing she's qualified to do to make enough money to feed her many, many kids... She'll be piecing together $5k at a time forever. She'll never get ahead. She chose it, she lives with it. Good for her for trying to get her act together.

What kind of mother humiliates her kids in the media comparing them to an unwanted litter of animals? What kind of decent organization thinks nothing of letting a mother humiliate her kids?
****There are FOURTEEN kids involved, several old enough to understand what is going on!
    *****This is just plain sickening.

PETA, Nadya, and that Atty. Jeff Czech should be ashamed of themselves for exposing her children to this kind of ridicule. Her kids can expect some extra cruel teasing on the playground this week for sure. Woof, woofs, meows and litter box jokes.

I feel very bad for those kids with such thoughtless, self serving adults looking out for them. Maybe a kind neighbor will have the good sense to take the banner down before the kids get home from school!!

Reality show? Never. Going . To. Happen.

If it hasn't by now, there is an excellent reason for it. Toxomom is the most alienating individual ever to chase after cameras. But she is so ugly, she is so creepy, and most of all, she s sooo boring. It's like Dr. Seuss and Stephen King got together and came up with a monster that could only recite the phone book. She has had nothing to say since Ann Curry's first interview but the exact same trite bogus psychobabble over and over.
She has no idea that people simply do not care about her and that she comes fifteenth after the public's concern for 14 neglected trapped kids being deliberately raised without any parents by nannies..

No one is comparing Nadya to a cat. She's more of a "crazy cat lady", but with babies...and extending the offer to her lawyer isn't right: we don't want people to start spaying and neuteuring sharks...

Toxomom has publicly stated that they all have the same father who "donated" his sperm over ten years. This is called being a father any way you want to slice it form the welfare cheese loaf. Where she lives, word is that the father is a local doctor for Seal Beach –but not the fertility guy -and he was getting $$$ as a by-product of this. Not from her, they were all par t of a larger scam. The babies as individuals are incidental . It was probably done with the goal of getting a reality show for her and more business for the fertility doc.
And selling her many ,many eggs.. Very scary since she has an extremely high incidence of impaired children. 50 percent in the older 6. Too early to be determined in the 8.

Sarah– this draws attention to PETA, but only in a totally negative way. People are going to focus on feeling sorry for how PETA has unethically humiliated 14 small kids for a message about animals they could have put anywhere else.. Why do the people who post always forget that this situation is primarily about the needs of 14 very young children trapped in a dirty, crowded loud puppymill and not the failed-ambition whims of one silly old sociopathic fauxlebrity.

@ekarma68 she isn't exploiting her kids YET. the second someone takes her up on her idea of a reality show about them she will jump right in Kate Gosselin's boat. This woman is sick, but at least she is making money one way or another to have other people pay for the house for her obnoxiously huge family.

Never thought I'd stand up to defend Octomom........but

From what I've observed she is attempting to support her (huge) family without actually exploiting the children in the manner that Kate Gosselin and her ex have. She recently admitted that she made a mistake by allowing herself to have all those babies. At this point, however, she has to care for them. I, personally, think that PETA should have paid her much more than $5000.

I seriously hope she (or anyone that gets artificially inseminated) is not receiving a single penny of public assistance for the resulting baby(s) for the simple fact that the pregnancy was intentional.

Donedonedone – Actually, lots of people have already seen this sign since March because it has received TONS of media coverage. As someone who has worked in communications and PR, I can say for sure that, with this one little sign, PETA has gotten waaaaaaaay more than $5,000 worth of advertising for its spay and neuter campaign. Whoever thought of this is a genious. $5,000 won't even keep a temporary, practically invisible sign up on the inside of a bus for very long. PETA's sign isn't even up yet, and it has already received loads of local, national, and international coverage. Rarely does an organization of any sort get this much "return" on what is actually a tiny investment. PETA won't lose members because of this. In fact, I think PETA will gain members because in terms of spending donor money wisely to reach the greatest audience, this is pure genious. As is adding the tagline message letting people (not just Octo and her unfortunate children) know about veggie dogs and burgers. From the standpoint of spreading the message about helping and not hurting animals, this has already been hugely successful.

Why isn't there a spay sign on Octodad's lawn in Seal Beach? After all, he spawned 14 kids and walked away with no responsibility and no contact with is kids. isn't that exactly what PETA is protesting

PETA has paid for its own bad publicity. Actually, this as counter-productive for PETA as their worst enemy could make it. People who donate to PETA aren't going be sending in ther dollars any longer to see them spent like this and the entire message is completely lost on whoever it is supposed to reach. PETA has done some dubious things in the past but deriding children for pets is just about hitting bottom. Maybe TMZ is trite enough to think this situation is about the mother and not the kids, but PETA has ethical as part of its name. And what is ethical exactly about humiliating kids?

Besides who exactly is supposed to see this sign in a residential cul-de-sac? I imagine the neighbors, who will have to look at it aren't thinking about their pets anywhere near as much as they are thinking about their lawyers.. They may not be able to sue her, but they can easily put together a class action suit against PETA .

Oprah showed 14 babies and kids living their entire lives in dirty, loud, crowded squalor that Oprah or any other doglover never for one minute would leave their dogs to live in.

How does PETA justify these kids living in sub-kennel conditions while they enable a mother who blows $400 PER MONTH on fake eyelashes. And that is the actual amount.
Why does TMZ always make these items about a delusional narcissistic sociopath like Nadya Suleman when she is the 15th least important person in such a sad nightmare for these kids.

At least she's doing some good. Too bad she'd only do it for money and not because it's the right thing to do. Kudos to PETA for thinking of it, though.
