Michael Douglas: "Brooke, before we start this interview..."
"...I want to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Say what, Michael?! The "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" star surprised me at the Cannes Film Festival when we sat down to talk about the new film - which is premiering here at Cannes - and the first words out of his mouth were a birthday greeting!
Now I'm not one to make the world stop for my birthday...in fact, I hadn't even mentioned it to any of my colleagues here. But I should never underestimate my sweet (and very sneaky!) coworkers. They secretly spoke with Michael's publicist in advance about the birthday surprise, and he graciously agreed to participate. I was stunned and, I admit, a bit thrilled my birthday didn't just come and go. And yes, I know it's not all about me. So here are some nuggets from my chats with the "Wall Street" folks:
The movie hits theaters in September, and they're hoping its relevance with today's unpredictable economic climate resonates with the audience. |

happy birthday brooke !!! and i love michael douglas too ! bye the way joe, be happy !!!!!
Joe, why so critical? Let people have some fun. This is about entertainment, man! BTW, I've been to Cannes and it's great.
She did say here are some "nuggets" from the interview, intended, I'm sure, to generate interest in the entire interview. Joe does need to lighten up.
this is a blog! not an "official" article. it can be as lightheaded as the writer wants it to be. Probably dashed it off between interviews.
I enjoyed the quick read and it is nice to see the good side of people. Agree with C – we need to lighten up. It is Friday for Pete's sake.
Joe lighten up. In our nations current predicament we need to hear a little lightheaded stuff.
What a pile of nonsense journalism.
I'm sure all these people are "warm, funny, lovely, silly" and "intense" twenty-four hours a day.
Oh–and happy birthday.
