Perhaps  lightning can strike twice.

Fresh from the glow of a successful campaign to get Betty White on as the host of “Saturday Night Live,” there is a now a campaign to get another veteran actress on the show: Carol Burnett.

There is now a Facebook fan page calling for Burnett to host the venerable program. Supporters point out that Burnett clearly has experience on a sketch television show and suggest it would be a great way to honor the classic comedian.

“The Carol Burnett Show” ran for 11 years, from 1967 to 1978, and Burnett has popped up occasionally in guest roles on television, most recently last year on “Law & Order: SVU.” FULL POST

Is this the beginning of a food awards joke? Nah, it's just the fifth episode of "Treme," when chef Janette DeSautel gets a surprise visit by four New York chefs referred to her struggling fictional restaurant by New Orleans' own "Top Chef Master," John Besh.

"We can't out-New York a bunch of New York chefs – we lowball them," DeSautel tells her sous chef Jacques. "We start with the sweet potato andouille shrimp soup. Then we get the rabbit kidneys out the freezer – they're tiny, they're going to thaw fast. We skewer 'em with some lardons of the Benton's bacon, then we hit 'em with sweetbreads and crawfish over grits." FULL POST

Like its predecessor, “Iron Man 2” had a solid showing during its opening weekend at the box office. And also similar to the first film, the sequel delivered an after-credits sneak peek at Marvel Entertainment's next project. By the looks of it, Thor is the next character headed to the big screen: the 50-second clip incorporates little dialogue, but ends with a glimpse of what appears to be Thor’s hammer.

The Thor teaser wasn’t the only special extra to run with “Iron Man 2.” Audiences also got a first-look at the “Super 8” trailer, a sci-fi film produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by J.J. Abrams, before the movie.

The trailer doesn’t give much away about the film, but supernatural activity definitely plays a role.

For those moviegoers who were waiting in line for popcorn during the previews, you can watch the “Super 8” trailer here.

And as for the moviegoers who darted out of the theater before the credits finished rolling, it's not too late to catch the Thor teaser.

Parents have to draw their inspiration for baby names from somewhere, so why not a novel about vegetarian vampires?

Or, perhaps, we’re simply searching for a reason to explain why anyone would name their son Cullen.

Either way - whether it’s the parents who have been reading too much “Twilight” or the employees at the Social Security Administration - there’s no denying that the name Cullen did see the biggest jump in popularity on the list of 2009’s most popular baby names for boys. There's only one other popular figure with that name, and that's Edward Cullen.

Katy Perry is on fire, and not just in her career.

The soon-to-be-wed pop star has been crowned the most beautiful woman in the world by the editors of Maxim because “she’s sexy and talented,” according to a press release from the publication. “She’s the best friend you suddenly realize you’ve loved your whole life.”

Perry, said Maxim EIC Joe Levy in the statement, is a “triple – no quadruple – kind of hot. It’s that feeling you get when you suddenly realize that the smartest, funniest, coolest girl you know also happens to the best looking and a pretty good skateboarder, too.” FULL POST

(CNN) - Country music stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill announced Monday they will spearhead a benefit concert for flood recovery at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, next month.

"On Tuesday, June 22nd, the Music City community will unite to assist victims of the floods that ravaged Nashville and Middle Tennessee earlier this month," McGraw and Hill said in a news release.

Tickets are to go on sale May 14 and are to be priced between $25 and $75. The concert is to include "numerous other artists," the release said. FULL POST

Talk show host Barbara Walters announced Monday she will undergo surgery this week to replace a faulty heart valve.

"I have known of this condition for a while now, and my doctors and I have decided this is the best time to do the surgery," the 80-year-old co-host of ABC's "The View" said at the opening of Monday's program, which was dedicated to "Hot Topics."

"I love you all, and that's my hot topic for this morning," she told her studio audience after announcing her plans. Walters predicted she would be gone from the show for one to three months, "and then I can come roaring back." FULL POST

As much as fans (myself among them) seemed to be pulling for the cowboys, Jet and Cord, to win "The Amazing Race" on Sunday night, it was not to be. And they weren't beaten by the team who took first on the previous leg, Brent and Caite (of "U.S. Americans," "the Iraq" fame).

Like we've seen on so many previous seasons, it's the little things that count, and brothers Dan and Jordan made a couple of aggressive (some would say questionable) moves, which won them the $1 million prize.

I'm not sure exactly where it is that these two heard that placing a backpack in front of someone else's backpack means that you are allowed to cut in line, even when you arrived hours later. Nevertheless, Jet and Cord held their frustration in when they were placed in back of the line for a flight from Shanghai to San Francisco. FULL POST

Someone crack open a Skinny Girl beverage and raise a glass in congratulations to Bethenny Frankel: The 39-year-old reality TV star gave birth to a baby girl at 8 a.m. Saturday morning in New York City, according to People.

Frankel and her husband, Jason Hoppy, named their daughter Bryn.  "She is a 4 lb. 12 oz., healthy baby,” Frankel’s rep said in a statement to the magazine. "Bryn, mom, dad and [their dog] Cookie are all very happy."

A few hours after giving birth, Frankel concurred that sentiment on Twitter.

“I can't express how happy I am & how beautiful, supportive & thoughtful u all are,” she tweeted. “Bryn is a tiny beautiful peanut.”
