Robert Rodriguez's 'illegal' movie trailer is the real deal

Robert RodriguezHappy belated Cinco de Mayo! If you're still recovering, be sure not to miss the “illegal” trailer crafted by writer/director Robert Rodriguez for his upcoming film “Machete.”

Danny Trejo plays the knife-wielding hero, and he’s got a special message in there, just for Arizona.

Before the Southwestern state made headlines by, as CNN.com notes, requiring "all immigrants to carry alien registration documents at all times and requiring police to question people if there is reason to suspect them of being in the country illegally," Rodriguez was toiling away on a Mexploitation film that touches on the same issue, to be released by 20th Century Fox on September 3, 2010.

'American Idol' TV's biggest money maker

“American Idol” may be a little shaky in the ratings these days, but they are still making lots of money for its parent network, Fox.

According to a Forbes story, the show is the biggest money maker on television in terms of advertising dollars.  Forbes estimates that in 2009 “Idol” generated $32.4 million for a two-hour episode, or $8.1 million per 30 minutes.

The report points out that ad purchases are made before the season begins and are therefore based on past performances and anticipated buzz.

Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien keep the late-night wars alive

Forget love; late-night talk shows are the real battlefield.

First, Conan O’Brien went on “60 Minutes” to tell his side of the NBC saga, wherein he briefly mentioned what he would have done had he been Jay Leno - namely, not take the show back. While some may call that criticism, others may say that’s having an opinion.

O’Brien then made another perceived slight at his former colleague while visiting the Google headquarters yesterday. O'Brien was chatting onstage with an interviewer in front of a crowd of 20-somethings, and the interviewer noted that some people in the crowd were so young, “they don’t even know what the ‘Tonight Show’ is.”

Star Tours gets ready to make final flights to Endor

Disney Parks’ Star Tours attraction will soon go out of commission to make way for a 2011 upgrade, but it’s not shutting down without a send-off.

From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. on August 14, Disney Parks is hosting the "Last Tour to Endor," a special event that coincides with the official Lucasfilm fan convention, “Star Wars” Celebration V.
