'Idol's' double elimination night

SPOILER ALERT!!! Tonight's blog entry will reveal the contestants being sent home from "American Idol." Don't read any further if you don't want to know the results.

I correctly predicted that Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia would be heading home Wednesday night.

Of the two, I felt it was definitely time for Andrew, but I think Katie just never caught on with fans despite her talent.

Not that Andrew wasn't talented, but Katie bore up better under the strain of the competition than he did. He just never caught fire after he peaked during the auditions.

Be sure to head over to iReport where you can submit your questions for Katie and Andrew.

    Re: Adam Lambert

I just wanted to say Adam delivered a stand up performance. I thought it looked very cool and he sing like a champ. I mean he can really sing man! and what a voice. That is an inspiration to the contestants. Adam I feel he (You) would have made it even without American Idol but good thing he (You) went to that audition instead of sleep in. When one applies them selves .. well now it's history. Motivation. When I seen that season with Adam in it I knew he was made for it.
Not only had the looks.. Had the whole package. And that suite and performance.. that rocked. That's what counts. Yeah Katie was developing and making changes but the bar was raised by the others so it was time to go. Best of luck to everyone.

Crystal is a professional with talent and poise competing against a bunch of wannabes. It shouldn't even be close. She is clearly the best of this bunch and the next American Idol. As someone who knew Janis, I am proud of Crystal. She is awesome.

Did someone suggest the reason Simon is nice to Tim is because he's in love with him? Tim does have a nice cabboose on him.

The 19E, Simon Fuller is desperate to return the money spent for Lambert, so they shoved him down everyone's throat although he is just a rookie in the business. He is not worthy to be the mentor and also he is the worst role model out of the whole idols. Can anyone shut him up? His head is all screwed up. I really want to ask his parents about how they raised him because I can certainly see the attention deficit symptoms when he was growing up.

And for all of those who keep saying this season's the worst ever – well I know it won't change minds but if you go look at the rankings of performers on whatnottosing.com (they take a wide sample of critiques from various sources to score the contestants), you might be surprised. First of all, I'll admit we're only down to the top 7 and there could of course be some big trainwrecks yet to come that would skew the scores, but at this point, the #1 rated contestant of all time...Crystal. And not by a little, but by quite a bit. Not only that, Siobhan (? shows just how good her early performances were) ranks #23 and Lee #25. As far as finalists (the website also ranks semifinalists, scores start in the semifinals) only season 2 had more (4 contestants) in the top 25 and seasons 5 and 8 also had 3 in the top 25. (And for that matter, everyone's hero Adam from last season...not even the highest ranked from last season. Nope, wasn't Kris either, or Danny...but Allison.) Now I didn't get into the average scores for each year, I'm not sure if they're on there too.

I know few people will really care and will say that site doesn't mean anything anyways, but still, I thought it was interesting.

  9. TIm is great

So much TIm haters, yall are tone deaf, he has been singing in tune for the most part and has been getting better, i want him to take a big risk in choosing a rough song, Next person to go home is either mike or aaron. Possible Siobhan she is trying to be like Adam with her screaming but it doesnt work for her. But I see that Tim will make it to the Top 4

I am so upset Katie got voted off. Coming from Connecticut (3rd smallest state) she didn't have a chance compared to contestants from other bigger states and they all have their favorites. She was better than Aaron and better than Tim by a long shot. Connecticut thinks she has what it takes to be a star and it won't be long before she has a record deal. The Ct Governor is even backing her. Big mistake for idol.

They got it right with Andrew, but I think it should have been Aaron, and not Katie. Not yet, anyway. They both had poor song choices with "Hounddog" and "Blue Suede Shoes." Those two songs are just so overdone. They needed to dig deeper with their song choices, like some of the other contestants did.

Katie is a great singer but is not as charismatic as Aaron. Katie still should have stayed over Tim, though. Despite the comments by the judges, Tim sonded like a weak child, he actually has had better perormances, although overall he is not a great singer. I am not sure who I want to see win. I need to see some more performances.

@Clyde & cloud nine – Ai is FOX's show what would they stand to gain by rigging it??? Nothing! In addition X-factor also belongs to FOX, so they have no need to rig anything; in fact it would be in Fox's best interest to promote both shows and maximise thier audience and viewership!

I don't get it why the judges come down on Siobhan when she sings something like "Across the Universe". I love, love the sound of her voice when she sings softly. I thought it was beautiful. Sleepy? Not to me. I thought it was angelic all the way down to the filmy skirt she was wearing. I would like to see her at least in the top five.

Crystal sucks and her yellow teeth are disgusting, fat Mike and his troll wife suck, Kara sucks. I do think Lee and Tim are stepping it up, especially Lee. Siobahn, or whatever her name is needs to pull her head out of her backside is she wants to win this thing. Casey is just another Bucky Dent. Overall, this year's AI is substandard. Bring back the crooked mouth girl! She was a great singer and very pretty for having a crooked face.

Tim is horrible. He slipped into the top 12. He should have never made it out of Hollywood week. Why do you teeny boppers keep voting for someone that can't sing? The judges were right last week- he's on a completely different level than the other contestants. The level below them, that is. Please boot him off.

@PeterPhilly & jlo- Tim is WAY better than Sanjiya! Sanjiya never even got close to making it this far! Tim although not my favorite is here for a reason – America likes him! And he can actually sing in tune, consistantly. Not once have you heard the imfamous "pitchy" comment from the judges! Big Mike – obviously America does not agree he's better than Tim – Big Mike was gone if it was not for the save of the judges!

    Tim is in!!

I think Crystal should win, hands down. Her voice is phenomenal. Siobhan is my second favorite but she seems to have lost her way. She may be too "sensitive" because of all the criticism she keeps getting but I still really like her and think with some help/work she could be a big star. There's just something about her that I really like. Big Mike sounds like a poor version of Ruben Studdard. I'm bored with him. Tim actually has a very "in tune" voice but he seems like just another teen pop singer that the teenyboppers will tire of in a year or two. I haven't liked Andrew in weeks. He just continued to butcher the songs week after week. Katie has a very good voice but doesn't have the performance thing down. In order to "perform" the song well you need to be something of an actor. She's either just too young and self conscious at this point or just a lousy actor. She seems fake standing up there. Lee and Casey are just okay. I don't see what the big deal is with either one of them. Ho hum. I actually thought Aaron performed and sang Blue Suede Shoes wonderfully. He's just not very marketable at this point. He's too young and reminds me of a young Perry Como or Pat Boone. Like I said, not marketable. Maybe when he's 25 or so and either goes country or rock. There just isn't much of a market these days for a "crooner".

I am sorry to see Katie go, but have grown really tired of being disappointed with Andrew. Like many others, he blew me away with his rendition of Paula's song, but he never did it again.

Tim is definitely this year's Sanjaya. I'm NOT a fan of Mike at all. But, he's far better than Tim. I think it comes down to physical appearance. Tim's much more mainstream. Although, he wasn't bad on Tuesday night.

I was done with Mike when he did the India.Arie song. She's so distinct. But, it wasn't 1 scintilla as awful as Tim's Anita Baker take. Puke!

Lee keeps getting better each week. He and Crystal are incredible. I think they'll be the final 2. I love her and her nonchalance. She's so good. He's equally as good, but I think she's the next American Idol.

Tim should have been kicked off long ago. He's this year's Sanjaya, but I think Sanjaya actually had more stage presence and self confidence. Every season the teeny boppers tweet, e-mail, and text each other to decide who they're going to make into the Idol joker for the season and then see how far they can take it. Tim himself knows that he's the joker in the pack this year, but he's decided to ride the wave anyway. Who knows, if the Idol spoilers have their way this year, he might even walk away with the crown!

    Go Tim!

And what's with all the fake movements, pursing of lips, slamming the mike from hand to hand, and jerking his head to the side (for emphasis I guess). Man! Katy got screwed last night. I believe that most of the voters are young females. That's why the male performers last longer than the females. It would not surprise me if Tim didn't come out on top because of this. IMO Siobhan is a great contender and will not come out on top because of the voting venue.

I have been watching very season of Idol and refer to this season as the "coffee house season". All good singers, but all of them would be better suited to singing on small stages behind their guitars. When you look back, the most exciting seasons have been led by dynamic performers. Adam Lambert in Season eight, Taylor Hicks in Season Five. Those guys worked the audience and every bit of the stage and had people on their feet nearly every week.

In the end, I don't give a damn about who sells records after the show. I want to be entertained like Adam and Taylor entertained me. That is what is lacking on this season. Either you have it or you don't. Season nine doesn't.

the last 4 standing will be Crystal, Lee, Casey and Siobhan. And please, get rid of Kara she's one big phoney. I miss Paula. Siobhan please drop your sad face AND stop listening to Kara, Simon on the other hand knows what he's talking about. Listen carefully and go back to how you sang in the beginning.

I agree completely that it is wrong to try to make these young people sing songs written well before they were born. I believe the actual maximum age for an Idol is 28 or so.

Not only are the songs not in the current mainstream, they have been around for so many years – and the original performances of some were great – that the performers are not only competing with each other but with memories of the "classics." I particularly had that problem with "Big Mike's" version of "In the Ghetto" He was good – but not Elvis!

I hope everyone liked my "toned down" performance last night. The producers at Idol and my record company and management team (all AI people!) made, er, I mean asked me to do the show and just stand there and sing – much like I did when I finished a strong second to that hillbilly from Arkansas last season. I guess a lot of tweenies and the moms who buy their cd's didn't appreciate my "in your face" (tee hee) at last year's American Music Awards. But that's who I am people! Geeze! So there ya go AI – we're even; now back to being me!! (her).

I'm disappointed with this season's talent pool as well. Crystal stands alone and the others are forgettable. What were they thinking when they selected these people out of thousands who auditioned? Surely there's another Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood out there. If Crystal can keep the audience's interest with being the frontrunner since the beginning she has a chance to have a good career. What this group did with the Beatles and with Elvis's work was pathetic. It shows how lackluster they are. No wonder the ratings are way down. I tape and fast forward not to be tortured.

The biggest issue I have with Katie going home is that it does go against the premise of the show. We now have a contestant who goes home despite NEVER having the lowest number of votes in any one week. She's been close before (like Tim), but never at the very bottom.

She wouldn't have won, so it's not something to get too worked up over; but she was improving in a season where most contestants are either just bad or have completely flat-lined.

Andrew lost the plot weeks ago. What happened to the funky urban coolness?
Katie was too young, give her 3-5 years of experience and she'd blow the doors off this show.
What's up with Siobhan? She started out this weird cool alt chick. Now it's like she's just discovered Aquanet and TJ Maxx. It's not working.
Big Mike's gone all weird sticking to tearjerker little puppy dog songs to keep him afloat. Weird.
This show just takes all the interesting edges off the singers. Making them fit in boring mainstream boxes. Can't wait to see what's next. I think they need to do a polka week, or big bands, or Hollywood show tunes. You know, something current and relevant.
Unless something dramatic happens I'm thinking it's just a slow grind down to the final 2 of Crystal and Lee. Though take their guitars away and make them sing a polka song and it might be a different story.

Katie much worse than Mike. Tim Urban needs to go home before Mike and then maybe the two or three more then maybe Mike. Mike is crazy talented he is no KC nor is he anywhere close to the front runner this year Crystal but no way does he need to go home before Urban.

And in order of future eliminations

    Mike
    Aaron
    Tim
    Siobhan
    Casey

Crystal and Lee in the finals...and your next American Idol is...LEE!!!

I jumped up out of my seat and dove underneath my trailer yelling take cover to my wife and kids! The next thing i know my wife is pullin my legs yellin at me to get out from underneath the trailer. Her and the kids didn't see a thing

I don't want Crystal to win, because she cannot deliver the performance. She doesn't have personality.

i'd have preferred Katie and Andrew to stay longer than Tim, Aaron or Mike but it doesnt really matter in what order they go so long as the last ones standing are Lee and Crystal.

Alicia Keyes is a classically trained artist with some great songs so she should make an excellent mentor but i'm wondering what the "inspirational songs" they are going to be choosing from – hopefully not more slow and boring stuff ...

Simon is cracking me up – he is so happy that he is actually complimenting lousy karaoke singing from Tim ( must be because he's in love and is leaving AI ) :)

Crystal overhall will win, but I think Tim will be in the running with her. . I thought Katie would go last night and Andrew. I think the judges should pick their songs and then we'll see for sure what gives. Very interesting indeed.

Everyone knows Michael will get a record deal and so will Casey. Aaron is young and he will make it big one day. He's a very good performer.

I thought it was nice to see Kara in Africia very touching, the dear little children who run up to you and you don't even know them. It makes you want to take them home. We are so very lucky and proud of Canada. I am happy that someone cares deepley for these dear little children. That show should be great also with all the wonderful musicians. Thank you

This is easily the weakest group of contestants American Idol has ever had. It reminds me of two seasons. Season 5 when Chris Daughtry should have won and finished 4th with Taylor Hicks winning (see where he is now) and also Season 3 when Fantasia won it. Whoever wins this year will disappear off the music scene within 6 months like Hicks did.

Notice they have yet to say once this year "This is the best talent we have ever had". They can't because they know it's the worst. Almost every single runnerup in past seasons would win Season 9 easily.

Isay: Wow. Whether you like Crystal's voice or not is irrelevant. It's obvious from the interviews with the other contestants that Crystal is a kind, compassionate human being, a loving mother, and an incredibly good friend. That makes her an American Idol in my book (no matter what her teeth are like).

while I was hoping it would be Mike and Andrew, I'm ok with it being Katie and Andrew. Katie wasn't bad, she just wasn't exceptional- which, given her tone/age/look, she probably needed to be exceptional. Andrew was just boring from day one, and should have been eliminated 4 weeks ago.

Wow, people who want Siobahn to go home next week, when she's been one of the better performers from week to week. If you really think Siobahn should go home before Tim or Arron – then you shouldn't be allowed to vote in American Idol – OR watch the show. Those two guys couldn't hold a candle to Siobahn – and time will prove me correct.

The final three SHOULD be ... Lee, Siobahn and of course Crystal.

Let me say this about Idol: This has not been the most talented group by far and the prediction of Simon that the girls would dominate was silly. With that put aside you can agree or disagree with the voting but I can't see for the life of me how Aaron and Tim are both in it. I would think they are splitting each others votes. If one of them finally goes then the other picks up all those what i would call Chris Allen voters from last year. This is what makes one or the other a contender unfortunately. In the end I think Crystal will prevail.

I enjoyed seeing Brook White on the AI stage again. She sounded so polished and trained. It was unfortunate, though, that she was paired up with Justin who seemed very uncomfortable. His vocals were hard to hear as though he were not breathing properly (I'm guessing it was partly due to nerves) but he didn't finish his phrases. I don't know, they just weren't a very good match for each other. Then again, this seems to be the MO of AI. Remember the Demi Lovato/Joe Jonas travesty of a duet? I would love to have had Brook all by herself.

Adam Lambert was smokin! Literally, much of his performance I wondered if her were singing in the midst of a forrest fire. That said, his vocals were perfect. The laser lights, particularly the ones at the beginning, were exceptionally dramatic. I think he really did shed some light on how far AI has fallen this year. No one this year could hold a candle to him this season. Say what you want but the guy knows his stuff!

It was unquestionably Andrew's time to go. Frankly I was surprised that he had lasted as long as he did. Katie, on the other hand, was a surprise. Though I didn't like her early on she had grown better each and every week, I thought that she definitely had much more to offer than Tim or Aaron for the weeks to come. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Dear best critic: pretty good takes there but Tim Urban is horrific – now and before and always will be. He cannot sing AT ALL! Casey is losing his luster – he is destined to be this year's Ace. I hope Siobhan finds her groove becuase I really like her total package (including the Mary Poppins tat) but she seems confused as to who she is or who she wants to be as an artist. Adam's performance was definitely a throwback superstar performance, and really brings the song out better than the radio does. That's exactly where he fits in. Screeching for the hell of it last year was not cool, though.

I do hope Lee wins because I think he needs this. I like the idea of a new genre for people who lack self-confidence or music biz polishing, which is usually where American Idol contestants come from. I hope he doesn't sing Rob Thomas, Creed-ish, or Nickelback crap, but forges his own way.

(I still like Casey's talent immensely and I acknowledge Crystal's voice is superior. Siobhan personality and performances irk me. I think people who love her are not really listening or scrupulous, but each to their own. She values her supposed "uniqueness" too much for my taste. Look for her to make a good role in a remake of Breakfast Club.)

I'm not welling up with excitement this year, but I almost feel like they have more talent than usual. They fit more into molds than usual also. Their sounds are often spot-on with the artists below:

    Big Mike – Luther Vandross-ish
    Siobhan – Toni Braxton
Casey – Bob Seger sometimes Stevie Ray Vaughn sometimes country
Lee – on par with any mainstream rocker – more pleasant than David Cook
Crystal – Janis Joplin or any lesbian rocker from the 80s/90s
Andrew – Sam Cooke at times, Seal-ish

The most interesting occurence this season is how Tim has come from not being in the Top 24 to singing horribly in the Top 24 to sounding like Top 3 possibility. Congrats to him! I totally hated him before.

wrong, wrong, wrong. It was wrong for them to use the save on Mike, and it was wrong that he didn't go home last night. Katie got screwed, I'm not a big fan of her, but I thought she had one of, if not the best performance on Tuesday, yet because Mike didn't go home last week, Katie went home last night. Andrew would have been gone last night, and Mike would have already been gone, so it would have been Katie in the top 7 and not Mike.

    Comments about the remaining contestants....

Crystal......front runner, studio ready, easily recognizable genre (Bonnie Raitt comparisons abound)...however, can see her getting "Melinda Doolittled" though.

Casey....strong contender, great guitarist, decent voice, easily recognizable genre...however, judges don't care for his performances that much.

Lee...strong contender, great guitarist, great voice, easily recognizable genre...however, has little to no personality while performing, and may fail to connect with fans because of it.

Mike....strong contender, decent guitarist (although it looks silly at times to see him playing one), easily recognizable genre...however, not sure if he has as strong a fan following...others have mentioned a perceived arrogance on his part (I have not noticed it, but who knows).

Siobhan...pretender, decent singer...however, no easily recognizable genre (how would you market her)...seems like a one trick pony (screeching)... i get bored with her talking after the judges have commented on her performance.

Aaron...pretender...decent singer.. however, no easily recognizable genre.... has been referred to as David Archuleta 2.0, but I think that is doing a big disservice to David Archuleta.... too much vibrato in his voice at times... maybe in a couple of years with some voice lessons but not right now.

Tim....the big question mark...he can carry a tune... he can strum a guitar...and he can flash those pearly whites that teen girls have fallen in love with....I think he knows his limitations, and has been choosing songs that have little risk to him....however, I can see him skating by into the top 3... I mean, why not.... he's made it this far.

I think this season of Idol is the worst, but I cannot put my finger on why. Frankly, I think with Adam Lambert last year, no one will ever be better than him. He was the best entertainer, singer, etc. they ever had on Idol. Even though he didn't win, he is 100x the entertainer anyone of Idol this year is.

I've watched Idol from the very beginning; this is the first time I can honestly say I don't care who wins.

There have been thousands of comments regarding how boring Idol is this year, the mixed messages given the contestants, unwarranted criticisms (i.e. Siobahn), how bad this year is, how weak the talent, etc. I wonder if there is some connection to the fact that this is Simon Cowell's last year and he is launching a new talent show next year. The best way to insure ratings for the new show is to turn everyone off Idol. This has certainly been the worst Idol year ever but I think there is a well planned reason for it.

People keep forgetting that some of the past season contestants such as Lambert and Daughtry have had extensive experience performing prior to Idol. Even Kelly Clarkson was all ready doing background vocals and demos prior to. They just didn’t become that such a performer overnite like the show wants you to believe. You could tell w/ Daughtry since he had his own band and was on the road wether locally or what. Lambert definitely had theater background and he was in some of the musicals. It definitely shows during the mentor part where his critics are just right on and even better than the 4 sitting judges. His critiques comes from year of being directed by Musical theatres. Whereas, Randy, Kara and Simon all they care about is how can we package the potential winner.

So great to see you again, Adam. Now THAT is entertainment. Crystal is a natural, Casey has a great 'Bob Seger" type voice but I wish he would go country – he has the look and the name. Mike missed his time which would be in the disco years. Lee is still too timid. Aaron is looking scared like Archie did. The screamer – she has fantastic style. Doesn't it seem like everytime Tim is saved, the rest of them do not look so thrilled about it? The judges have given the most conflicting advice ever – make it your own, did not recognize it, it is too old fashioned, make it young, use the stage, you were all over the place........geez.

One of the main comments the judges have made (especially Simon) is that "you failed to make it current", yet they have done Motown, The Stones, The Beatles, and Elvis ... all good acts but 40-50 years old. If you're going to sing "Let It Be" or "Paint It Black" then sing the song, don't try to change it. Idol needs to move to more current theme weeks, something these kids may have actually heard on the radio.

    My take:

Crystal ... ready to record now. She has her own style and I can see her an an artist like Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, etc.
Casey ... probably the most talented musician. I can see him like a Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, etc. Also ready to record now.
Lee ... another Kris Allen. I liked Kris last season and voted for him to win. Lee's record would probably be about the same.
Siobhan ... may be ready to record, but is not marketable. I can't see her as anything more than a singer. Would probably wind up with some weird schtick like Kei$ha.
Big Mike ... another Reuben Stoddard. What has he done since season two?
Tim, Aaron ... no recording future. Can see them on some of the wannabe reality shows for the rejects.

Sorry guys, Big Mike's performance of "In the Ghetto" was a show stopper, in a good way. That dude can sing, unfortunately, he's a dime a dozen. Katie can sing too, but I always hated her voice, reminds me of the sound a seagull makes. Also, a girl like Katie is a dime for TWO dozen. Andrew was god awful when he sang Hounddog, completely butchered it. Aaron doesn't belong onstage. I found out on Tuesday why Tim is still around, my 11 year old niece was CRYING and screaming for Tim when he sang. Every time he flashed his smile, she would yelp and kick her feet, stuff like that. As far as Siobhan, Casey and Lee, I can see their talent, but I just can't get into any of their performances. BOOOO! that leaves Crystal as the stand alone winner

Andrew was overdue. I would have given Katie another week or so. She is definitely better than Tim – I am guessing he is still there for the looks? and Aaron.

Next to go (in that order – hopefully): Aaron, Tim, Michael, Casey, ......leaving Siobhan, Lee and Mama Sox at the top. Mama and Lee are both definitely my favorites, but I hope Mama will win! They both remind me of (a younger version) of Bruce Springsteen and Janis Joplin.

Katie always looks like a bobblehead – I think she had a good voice but no variety in her movements, and her odd head shake drove me crazy. Casey has a different style – he always looks a bit pained or unsure when he sings, and occasionally an odd "wobble" in his voice. Lee is hands down the best singer, and Crystal has promise. They'll be the top 2, I bet.

TBone you got it right. Adam Lambert brought so much energy & light into this show. Just his personality can brighten up a room. As long as the final three of this season will be:
    -Crystal

then it would be awesome... If not, then this show should be called "Voting Idol"...
ps. I really watched both days of this week because of Adam Lambert... Miss him already... :-(

Crystal is the best by far,
Casey only is only a fair signer, but apparently is really hot to women to such an extent that might make him a star. He also can really play.
Big Mike is occasionally really good.
Lee is suddenly getting good, after many weeks of poor performances

Urban is usually very bad, but had a good week.
Siobhan has lost it, and maybe the next to go home unless she ignores the judges.

Crystal and Casey are gonna be big stars no matter who wins.

Would someone please answer this. When Ryan called down the first group of contestants and sent back Arron, Tim Sioabahn, and left Andrew to stand as one of the bottom three. Than the next group came and Crystal, Lee, and Casey they were sent back to the couch. This may not be in the correct order but Big Mike, Katie, and of course Andrew were standing. Ryan let Andrew know flat out that he was going home, so that left Katie and Mike. Ryan had to make a big production statement saying "I can tell you this one of these people were not even in the bottom three. And of course who was it but BIG MIKE THE ONE WHO WAS SAVED LAST WEEK. Poor Katie she should of been saved. I know it's all about the AMERICAN VOTERS. But why is BIG MIKE always made a big deal about and nobody else is not even Crystal who myself and what I have read others say the same thing. This is not the BIG MIKE SHOW with him standing pursing his lips and his hand in both of his pockets arrogantly looking like he is sure he will not be going home. It was unnessary to announce he wasn"t even in the bottom three. How does the producers think that made the other contestants feel? Sweet Katie you were improving every week and you will have a music career. God Bless You

America or should I say the show got it right. Andrew and Katie's time were up. Next and I really hope to go is Siobhan. She sounds the same every week and her oh look at me Im dreamy and inncent look just irritates me everytime I hear her. My husband watched this season for the first time last night and couldnt stand the girl. She is way too much of a drama queen. Another person whom I dont like is Crystal. I know a lot of people like her but she is the same every single week and she really doesnt have that great a voice. She's different but thats about all. My hope for the order to go home:

    Siobhan
    Aaron
    Crystal
    Tim
    Mike
    Casey
    Lee.... as the ultimate winner

Lee is the only one who knows how to rock and change up the songs. He the best!

Its time for "big Mike" to go. A little humility goes a long way. His actions doesn't appear that he has any.

Brooke and Tim are by far and away two of the most annoying contestants in the history of AI – neither has/had any talent worth mentioning, and their personalities are just as lacking. Say what you will about Adam, but the energy he brought to the show has not been seen this year until he performed last night.

Im SO dissapointed with Idol this year, more so the voters... what is everyone thinking!? Katelyn Epperly and Ashley Rodriguez would have been much more fun to watch than Sioban or Katie Stevens.... and whats the big deal with Mike Lynche? He is more boring than anyone else to watch. Why he was saved, I have no idea....

America got it right. I liked Andrew from the beginning but
Andrew had to have known he would only go so far and that
this was definitely his time to leave. Katie should have gone
    weeks ago. WEEKS ago.

My guess is next week you'll probably see Tim & Aaron in
the bottom two and, unless Tim REALLY screws up, Aaron
(however he spells it) will go home next week.

But we're at a point now that NONE of these contestants
can afford a single "off night" and that includes Crystal
and Siobhan who I feel SHOULD be the top two finalists.
That leaves Mike, Lee & Casey fighting for third place.

Tim is still the wild card, though, and he's played this
game (a game he almost didn't get a chance to play,
remember) VERY very well. So don't count him out just yet.

Did the right people go home? Yes. Crystal has been the winner since the season began. Because of this, I'm almost bored with her. Aaron started out strong, but he's losing it. Big Mike annoys the crap out of me. Siobhan's screeching makes me tired. She is NOT Adam Lambert. Casey and Lee give solid performances every week. For Lee, Casey and Crystal, Idol is nothing more than a launching pad. They don't need to win to launch their careers. I know Tim hasn't got a hope in Hades, but he improves each week, he listens to the judges, and he's a lot better than people give him credit for. He is the Most Likely to Surprise.

Big Mike is talented but completely overly arrogant! UGH! Gets on my nerves. Which is why I wouldn't vote for him. He needs a lesson in humility to actually be able to appreciate his fans. Without his fans he would be NOTHING! He acts like he can pull it off all on his own. Not gonna happen. Lee on the other hand is actually talented but he is also down to earth. He knows where he came from, how far he's been, and who put him there. I thought Katie left way too soon. And Andrew reminded me of my ex so that a bit too creepy. Can someone please explain to me how Aaron has gotten this far though?!?

The judges wasted their save on him. They're going to be sad when real talent goes in the top 5 or 6 that they can't stop. If it's Lee or Mamasox I'm going to be upset. They're the only 2 with real talent that will sell albums ...

Well, Jay, it comes down to a matter of opinion. Do you really feel she's been treated fairly on the show? I don't view her high notes as 'screeching', unless you also want to call Adam Lambert a screecher. She's come out and done soft, controlled ballads & she gets trashed. On Elvis night, she did a version that included a nice, bluesy style. She gets trashed, yet Katie comes out and does the same kind of song ... with less controlled vocals, and the judges fall over her. I'm convinced that the judges like who they like, no matter the talent or performances...Big Mike? Did you see how Kara was jumping around, clapping when they saved him? Casey? Tim? Aaron? Give me a break. I think Crystal should win it, and I think Siobhan has the best voice of them all. See? Opinions, all.

Again- just because one does not think Big Mike is all that or the show should shove him down the throats of America (and his wife? or baby) or play more politics on a game show – does not mean one is a racist. Ever hear of the 'boy who cried wolf"? Soon noone is even going to believe real discriminations. By the way- the save was saved for Big Mike from day one. Why? I'd like to hear people's theories.

Good call! Andrew will be more of an indie rock kind of performer. Anything that he records will sell well among indie rock fans, but definitely not 12-14 yr old girls.

Katie – we know who she is. She should be singing country (yes, I agree with Simon). No doubt she has the big voice, but it lends itself to a more mature country audience than it does a pop audience.

And when will the demographic who votes for these people wake up and realize that Tim Urban stinks!?

I always keep in mind that "marketable artists" are what they are looking for. No worries for Katie, Tim and Aaron... sure they will be in teen musicals faster than the AI season is over. I love Siobhan's voice and she is more marketable than those who liked Biork and such artists. Andrew, great voice, but radio more suitable. Every one there is marketable put in the right zone. If Mike will stop "performing" off the microphone and stop trying to milk the crowds with drama and trying to be "cool" and just sing, he might be a little likeable. the only real loss was the elimination of Lily Scot early on. She was a true rock star. Crystal is so authentic, that she doesn't need to win.. she is already a winner, so que sera sera..... crazy voters...do your thing.

Yeah....he is lucky he is still in it because he probably should have been eliminated in the top 20, top 16, top 12, top 11, and top 10. But.....with the way he is going now, he deserves to stay.

As the next few weeks will prove, it's not at all about the best singer or the best overall pop talent, but about the judges swaying voters to their pets and about the teeny boppers who will vote because someone is cute, good singer or not.

The next time Simon tells Siobhan she screeches, he should replay Adam Lambert's performance last night...he's the ultimate screecher, then Siobhan should go over and smack Simon in the face. They've made her a head case, yet she seems to be the only one who tries to mix it up each week. Michael...he sounds like a broken Luther Vandross record; Casey ... nothing special that a bar cover band singer couldn't do ... got that, Kara? Dewyze... great, great rock voice, but still, after all these weeks, has zero personality and zero stage presence. Crystal ... obviously the most polished performer, but even she is beginning to sound boring. Aaron and Tim...sorry, idols you ain't, maybe next year.

Big Mike is a charmer and has a good singing voice. What he lacks is an emotional connection to the songs that he sings. "In the Ghetto" while sung well was still a poor performance due to the lack of any emotional connection. Just look at his eyes when he sings–completely blank. Why did they ever come up with the save. Both years it shouldn't have been used.

"Due to the volume of comments we receive, not all comments will be posted." Only the longer ones I make are ever rejected, lol...and yet it seems sometimes the longest ones still make it. Anyways...

@ Scott – Tim is just not really that bad. His voice is decent (NOT incredible, but definitely passable for a pop singer). His stage presence is no worse than a number of the others (Casey and Lee for example). And talentless? Can you sing and play guitar as well as he can? I doubt it cause really you'd probably find that even as mediocre as Tim may seem, he'd still be better than at least 99% of the general public.

And I'm not even a huge Tim fan – I just am willing to admit that the guy DOES have talent to an extent and DOES have a decent voice really, and I don't get why so many people have to attack him over and over – except that I think they've heard about "that website." If he's top 3, then people have reason to complain. But top 7? Compared to who he's beat and a few that are still there...well, it's not that far fetched.

Aaron and Tim should have been eliminated a long time ago; Katie was better than both last night. The problem is, too many fans forget this is a singng show. In order, the top 5 vocalist are:

It's kinda a shame to see Katie go at this point on one hand cause like some people have said she HAS gotten better lately. But at the same time this isn't "America's Most Improved Idol." Sure, someone could start out as not the best and improve week by week and win...but only if they're better than someone each week and can stay in, otherwise if they're the weakest singer they should go. Maybe Katie wouldn't have gone if only one person was being voted off this week – I mean it really seemed as though Andrew was the worst this week and had only one person been going Katie would likely have been safe.

So...7 left now? I see people being eliminated in the following order (not necessarily my choices but how I see it):

    Aaron
    Siobhan
    Mike
    Tim
    Lee
    Casey...leaving the winner as Crystal

I know not everyone will agree with that...honestly I could change a few of those myself cause I don't totally agree with it either. Aaron just seems to be on major borrowed time at this point and probably could have just as easily gone tonight. Siobhan won't really have a safety net at that point and I think she'll fall then. I really think Mike is deserving of top 3 or even 2 – he's got a great voice but people just don't like him, so then he goes. Tim's momentum will carry him to top 4 or 5. I think Lee is WAY overrated but because of that will hang on to the top 3, leaving the final two as Casey and Crystal. Casey only makes it that far because it seems so many women think he's wonderful eye candy (is he really? I'm a guy so I don't see it but whatever) – of the 7 remaining he may be the next to worst from a pure singing perspective. He's a good guitar player but probably overrated there as well but he is good for AI standards.

But if I had to throw out my top 2 if you wanna find someone to give you some crazy betting odds and yet still have a chance to win...how about Tim vs. Lee? I could see that happening actually but no one would believe it if it does...

Big Mike is a good spirit and talented, there is nothing racial about wanting the good people to do well. Having said that, I absolutely agree with Mr. Whippett. Siobahn, Crystal, Casey and Lee are all very talented. Lee maybe most of all.

I agree that Andrew needed to go home. I would have chosen Katie over Tim....he just doesn't seem REAL or AUTHENTIC to me. I'm glad Michael is safe for another week.

This should come down to 2 M and 2 F. The battle between Siobhan and Mama Sox vs. Casey and Lee. The wild card??? Believe it or not, will be Tim!

Aaron should have gone. Katie has talent beyond her years. The Judges were wrong to use the save on Big Mike. It was obvioulsy a racial thing, gotta keep the black guy in the game. Isnt it all about being "PC" these days?

The reason that Mike was on stage when he wasn't even in the bottom- more exposure! How brave of Idol to wait until after voting is over to turn itself back into "The Big Mike Show". Poor Katie- you really should have seen it coming. We all should.

It should have been Siobhan who got the boot. Hopefully next week. Her nine lives are just about up.

This is my first time watching American Idol and isn't the show to find a today's Pop Star? Why the hell are they singing songs from Elvis and the Rolling Stones? I also think it's a disadvantage to some of the contestants especially the young ones. That makes no sense. They should pick a song from any singer. You here the judges saying you need to sound more trendy but they have them singing songs from the 60's. That makes no sense. Its like trying to get Britney Spears to sing songs from Aretha Franklin or Eminem singing Duran Duran. It seems weird to me

I was terribly dissappointed in Tuesday night's performances. Hundreds of years from now, when you look back at this time period, there were 4 truely legendary music-changing-forever icons. Sinatra, Elvis, the Beatles, and Michael Jackson. The contestents treated this week with indifference. Not one person grabbed the microphone, grabbed the stage, and commanded any respect for one of the greatest performers of all time. The only one who could have done it justice was ironically the mentor Adam Lambert. I am dissappointed in this season's talent pool. Not since David Cook has there been someone whom early on I felt just positively absolutely HAD to win.
