Did you see that one coming 'Idol' fans?![]() testing captions SPOILER ALERT!!! Tonight's blog entry will reveal the contestant being sent home from "American Idol." Don't read any further if you don't want to know the results. The world was just a little bit crazy tonight on "Idol." "Big Mike" almost went home, and I still can't believe it. The judges evoked their save to keep him, and it's a good thing, too, because sending him home would have been all kinds of wrong. What do you think happened? Did the fans get as cocky as "Big Mike" seems to be sometimes and think he was safe? Sound off!
The 'Idol' Top 9 elimination could be a shocker
SPOILER ALERT!!! Tonight's blog entry will reveal the contestant being sent home from "American Idol." Don't read any further if you don't want to know the results. 10 p.m. – Simon makes the announcement about the judges' save and they save "Big Mike!" Whoa, that was close!!!! 9:57 p.m. – Seacrest no need to make America feel bad by reminding us that both Mike and Andrew are fathers trying to make a better life for their kids. And the one who is safe is .. Andrew! WHAT?!?!?!? I did not see that one coming at all!!! "Big Mike" sings "This Woman's Work" while his wife sobs in the audience. Will the judges save him? 9:48 p.m. - Before we find out who is going home, we are treated to Rihanna singing her new single, "Rock Star 101." She certainly looks it in that get up. Gotta love the black, one-piece rubber suit thingie. Hey, one of Rihanna's back-up dancers looks like MamaSox's little sister! So we are to believe that Rihanna plays the guitar now? Sure, why not. The pyrotechnics are off the hook with this performance, and the audience is loving it. You better work Ri-Ri! 9:32 p.m. -I love David Archuleta (I've interviewed him, and he's just as nice as can be), but I'm not sure we needed him back this season to sing "Imagine." He does sound great, but his appearance makes me just miss past seasons of this show all the more. Remember back when the majority of the contestants could really sing and perform? OK, I take it back. It's really good to see Arch on the piano and back on the "Idol" stage if for no other reason that to help us "Imagine" a better show! It's been two seasons since his, and he has grown as an artist. Looking forward to hearing his next album. We get Arch off, and the lights dim. Lee Dewyze is up first. He is instructed to head to the far side of the stage. "Big Mike" Lynche is up next, and he looks like he is about ready to bust out of his shirt a la The Hulk. Mike has to start another group, and he looks a little shell-shocked. I do not like the direction this is headed! Casey James gets sent to stand with Lee. Aaron Kelly has to go stand next to "Big Mike." Likewise, Tim Urban heads over to hang out with Casey and Lee. That leaves Andrew Garcia to join Aaron and "Big Mike." One of the group of three is safe, and the other is bottom three. Clearly it's "Big Mike," Aaron and Andrew. The person who gets sent back to safety is Aaron. WHAT?!?!?! Andrew or "Big Mike" is headed home. Stunned, I am. 9:23 p.m. - All three of the girls are safe, and they are looking mighty happy. Katie looks shocked when Seacrest reveals that Adam Lambert will be next week's mentor. Yeah, I'm stunned, too. Kara's artist (who knew she had artists?) Jason Derulo performs his hit single "In My Head," and he sounds so much better than Usher did last week. He also gives Usher a run for the money in the performance department. You might need to watch your back Ursh, 'cause that was hot! 9:15 p.m. -Tim Urban is always feeling good. That dude is just always about the fun vibe. First up is Siobhan Magnus, and we get to hear from Kara as to why she was confused by Siobhan's performance. After the nationwide vote, Ryan brings her down to the center of the stage. That could mean anything. Next up is Crystal "MamaSox" Bowersox and Ryan brings her down for to the center of the stage also. Stop playing with our minds Seacrest!!! He then brings Katie Stevens to the center of the stage and keeps up the appearance that they are the bottom three. Stop with the foolishness, Ryan! MamaSox gets sent back as she is safe. That leaves Siobhan and Katie left and guess what – they are safe too! Way to try and work the drama Seacrest. 9:05 p.m. – Sounds like "Idol Gives Back" is going to be offering up some great auction items, though I definitely would not want one of Simon Cowell's tight T-shirts. The gang is all decked out in black and white and singing the songs of Lennon and McCartney. I am still nervous about Seacrest's assertion that producers are claiming a shocker. My colleague and fellow "Idol Chatter" bud Michelle Wright had predicted a possible use of the judges' save tonight. It might could happen folks, though I doubt it. 'Idol' is back and it's closing time for one
Who goes home tonight? I have predicted Andrew Garcia, but you never know. The show just started, and I like tonight's intro with the glimpses back. I also have Big Mike Lynche's little "heeeeee" stuck in my head. Seacrest says to prepare ourselves for a surprise or two. Uh oh. And we are off! Rhianna and 'Arch' will hit the 'Idol' stageYeah, I pretty much can't even wrap my brain around an "American Idol" elimination show that will have Rhianna and David Archuleta appearing. But the pair, and Jason Derulo, are set to show up Wednesday night. I feel like it's getting just a tad bit harder these days to weed out who will be going home in the pack, which now pretty much features Crystal "MamaSox" Bowersox and others. Watch a discussion of Tuesday's performances and a prediction on who will be going home: 'Gleemania' takes over 'Oprah'
The cast of Fox’s freshman phenomenon paid a visit to Winfrey’s Chicago studio Wednesday, and it was hard to tell who was more excited: the "Glee" actors because they were on "Oprah," or Winfrey because she got to hang out with everyone's favorite glee club. To hear Amber Riley (who plays Mercedes on the show) tell it, Winfrey got ahold of the group just in time. "We were planning a trip to Cabo [San Lucas], but we found out we were going on the 'Oprah' show," Riley said. And for this cast - all of whom are friends off set as well - " 'Oprah' trumps Cabo," she added. Looking for a job? Alicia Keys is hiringAttention job seekers: Alicia Keys is now hiring. The superstar singer has teamed up with job search Web site Monster.com to find a blogger for her new site, IAAS.com, which stands for I Am A Superwoman. “With IAAS.com, I’ll be displaying my ‘voice’ in a different way and need just the right person to help me express a point of view that I don’t think exists yet in the blog world,” Alicia Keys said in the press release. The Addams Family: Creepy, kooky and on Broadway
The Addams Family in a musical? Yes. Lurch? Uncle Fester singing? You betcha. A musical about a family who dabbles in the dark side may initially seem improbable. But Goth is hot. And when you stack the deck, er, cast with Broadway veterans: Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth, the word "flop" scares easily. Lane and Neuwirth have a lovely bunch of Tony awards between them, and now along with their many theater accolades, they command the stage of the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre together. FULL POST Soundgarden, Green Day and Lady Gaga headline Lollapalooza 2010
It’s official: Lollapalooza 2010 will be headlined by Arcade Fire, Soundgarden, Green Day, Phoenix, The Strokes and Lady Gaga. It's been 16 years since the last time Green Day played Lollapalooza, according to the press release, and 12 years for Soundgarden, who performed twice before at the Chicago music fest, in 1992 as well as 1996. And although Lady Gaga seemed to hit her international stardom stride fairly recently, she's also already taken the stage, having performed once before back in 2007. Erykah Badu – currently making headlines for stripping down in her latest music video – is also scheduled to perform, although the press release doesn’t clarify whether or not statement-making nudity will be involved. Also lined up: Social Distortion; MGMT; The National; Spoon; Grizzly Bear; Devo and Cypress Hill. “Precious” star Paula Patton and singer Robin Thicke welcomed a baby boy to their family Tuesday. The couple, who married in June, 2005, named their first child Julian Fuego. “Mother, father and son are all doing well,” a representative for Thicke told CNN. Those who attended Alicia Keys’ “Freedom” tour stop in Los Angeles heard the news right away. Thicke missed his performance Tuesday to be with his wife, but Keys sent her congratulations to the new parents while performing her set at the Staples Center. NBC launches Kabletown.com
Move over Comcast, there’s a new provider in town - well, kind of. Kabletown, the Pennsylvania based company that bought NBC from Jack Donaghy’s (Alec Baldwin) beloved General Electric on “30 Rock,” is no longer just a hilarious storyline. It’s a hilarious web site, too. NBC has launched Kabletown.com, an in-universe site for Kabletown, which is spelled with a “K” “because K stands for the "Kindness we show our customers, the Keen interest we take in their needs and because Cabletown with a C was already the name of a store that sold cable knit sweaters and legal said we had to spell it with a K.” Even Liz Lemon’s (Tina Fey) parents are Kabletown subscribers, “down in Pennsylvania.” And thanks to Kabletown, the pioneer of his and hers cable, women can come home after “a long day at work, or at the grocery store or lunching with other real housewives” and tune in to an attractive man telling her exactly what she wants to hear, for the low price of $12.99. Take your pick: “I’m listening, patiently,” “How was your day?” or, maybe, “She’s clearly jealous of you” will do the trick. And for the men - sit back and enjoy titles such as “The Hind Side” or “The Pert Knockers.” Thank you, NBC. |
