Red carpet fashion - who was a hit and who was a miss?The Academy Awards, while never lacking in fashion misses, offered some surprise hits last night on the red carpet. Actress Cameron Diaz was a stunner in an embellished Oscar de la Renta strapless gown that was a spot on combination of glamour and fun.
“Up in the Air” actress Anna Kendrick was another fashion favorite in a soft pink, off-the-shoulder Elie Saab gown that she serendipitously chose at the last minute. Meryl Streep proved that age is nothing but a number in a sleek, white long-sleeved dress that offered just enough décolletage to be provocative without losing an ounce of class. She was also leading our Best Dressed poll at the time of this posting, with Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristen Stewart rounding out the top three.

how the hell do these actresses continue to defy age? i am 19/m/tx, and many of these women are older than my mother (who is 38). however, they look as if they could still be in their late 20's. it's just weird to me that they are so attractive still, yet they are older than my mother!
jlo is like 40 something.halle berry is like 40 something.ETC.

Sara Jessics Parker's dress was a shapeless sheet. Very unflattering. My hubby even called it a train wreck.
I cant stand his politics but Sean Penn floors me when he shows up wearing a crappy suit and doesn't even bother to cinch up his cheap tie.
F*&% off Hollywood.
He is a rebel -I'll give him credit for that.

I liked what Cameron Diaz was wearing, but did you see her sitting there SMACKING gum? Sort of turned me off!

Cameron's hair was lovely and her dress was princess-pretty
same with J Lo – soft and pretty hair (instead of the unflattering tight pull-back she usually wears) and her dress was gorgeous but the train made it look like there was a tiny person attached to her booty
Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep looked better than they ever have before on the red carpet – and comfortable in their own skin
ITA – Penelope's dark red dress color was so beautiful !
Sarah Jessica Parker needs to stop wearing her hair in those giant buns and quit while she's ahead with the spray on tan
Tina Fey hasnt quite got it yet – the dress was nice till i saw a photo and it looks alot like Brittany's black dress that was partially see-thru ...oops...
Miley Cyrus was pretty but she needs to stop slouching
Carey Mulligan and Zoe Saldana were young and cute – i guess the front slit showing the legs is the hip new look ?
Queen Latifa was the best of the big girl – just gorgeous !
First I would like to say if you don't have something nice to say then you shouldn't say anything at all. This is for all of you who are spewing criticisms. What most of you don't seem to understand is that Fashion is very personal. It isn't about a trend or what someone else wants you to wear. All of the stars chose something personal to them... so rethink your
comments. They were all so beautiful in their personal choices and like most you I have my favorites. And as for Jim... that fact that you actually took the time to comment makes you just like the rest of us. Interested, opinionated, and I would bet a buck you watched the red carpet too.

Kristen Stewart – no class whatsoever. Shoulders hunched, picking at her clothes, coughing. I was waiting for her to hawk a loogey on the floor. Jeez, girlfriend. Get thee to Deportment School!

Thought all the "Carmen Miranda" look alikes were ridiculous. They looked like they were wearing bricks on their feet. Guess the fruit headdress got eaten back stage!

Mo'Nique hit a home run. Her dress emphasized her curves and at the same time made her glamourous .
Jim – Let us girls have some fun talking about the kind of dresses we will never get to wear. I do not like comments that call people fat (come on, Diaz is maybe a 4, but that is super skinny!!), but some dresses were a bit ill-fitted.
I loved Penelope Cruz's red dress – stunning.

Cameron Diaz outfit made her look FAT. Its okay to be fat...but if you aren't don't wear things that make you look like you are. Her dress is for a size 2
