Kathryn Bigelow: 'I hope that I'm the first of many'Kathryn Bigelow is the first woman to win in an Oscar for best director, but she hopes that she won’t be the last. “I hope that I’m the first of many," she said backstage at the Academy Awards Sunday. "Of course, I’d love to think of myself as just a filmmaker, and I long for the day that the modifier can be a moot point, but I’m ever grateful if I can inspire some young, intrepid, tenacious male or female filmmaker and have them feel that the impossible is possible.” |

I am SO glad she won. All movies take a little "poetic license" to make them more entertaining. But her movie was about a subject that most people never mention or think about. The next day, I was still pondering and thinking about the contents of that movie...and I still am...and whenever I think of the war, I will always think about the guys out there doing this. And that's what makes an Oscar winning movie!
what was up with James Cameron's current wife ? Is she anorexic or does she have cancer ? She looked emaciated...
I think she was Cameron's third wife. He left her for Linda Hamilton. He left Linda for his present wife. I'm glad she won. She has beauty and brains.
Maybe the right wingers who are oh-so-concerned about the "accuracy" of war movies should ask their GOP overlords to clarify just what the "accurate" reason for the Iraq invasion actually was.
Re tmlakshmi: I am glad to see you can tell the difference between politics and Hollyweird....
As a film maker Kathryn can distort facts to make the film dramatic. President Bush distorted truth, facts and lied to the Nation got the country involved in an unjust war that destroyed the lives of Americans and People of iraq. Did he deserve to be reelected? Kathryn most certainly deserve the Oscar
Good for you Ms. Bigelow...well done.
Hmm, She does not deserve it. Should have gone to James Cameron.
Maybe next time she will direct a movie that doesn't deliberately distort what our service people go thru....
it dont matter if shes one of the first shes still fin as hell
