NBC's Zucker: It's just business

NBC Universal President and CEO Jeff Zucker made an appearance on "Charlie Rose" Monday, and after lots of hammering from Rose, admitted that the network has clearly made some mistakes with their late night lineup.

Did NBC make the right decision in 2004, when they promised Conan O’Brien the “Tonight Show” seat in order to keep him from packing up for another network? Yes, Zucker said, and he has no regrets about that decision. Trying to keep Jay Leno by giving him his own prime-time show, on the other hand – definitely not the smartest move, said Zucker.

Jay Leno gives his side of the NBC drama

Jay Leno had a great deal to say Monday night on his show as he shared his side of what's been going down at NBC.

"2004 I'm sitting in my office, an NBC executive comes in and says to me, listen, Conan O'Brien has gotten offers from other networks," Leno explained. " We don't want him to go, so we're going to give him 'The Tonight Show.'  I said, 'well, I've been number one for 12 years.'  They said, 'we know that, but we don't think you can sustain that.'  I said, 'okay.  How about until I fall to number two, then you fire me?'  'No, we made this decision.'  I said, 'that's fine."'

Leno went on to explain that he offered to retire and asked NBC to let him out of his contract, but was declined. FULL POST

Golden Globes ratings up this year

This year’s Golden Globes Awards must have sparkled just a little bit brighter than usual.

The Sunday night broadcast brought in 14% more viewers this year than watched the show last year according to Nielsen data

The boost in ratings could have been the curiosity over host comedian Ricky Gervais, the nomination of  so many blockbuster movies like “Avatar,” “Sherlock Holmes,” “The Hangover” and “The Blind Side” or maybe just America’s need for some Hollywood glamour after watching devastating coverage of the Haiti earthquake last week. 'The Bachelor': Everybody hates Vienna

We start with Jake wanting to go "head over heels" with Vienna, which only means one thing....Tears for Fears concert bungee jumping!  Vienna has, in her words, "butterflies what are we doing" about this.  Before we continue, please count the grammatical errors in the previous sentence.

Jake and Vienna jump, scream, say "Oh my god" several times and land upside down, 70 feet in the air.

After the jump, the two share adult beverages, and realize that they have a lot in common, such as screaming at the top of their lungs.  Jake gives Vienna a rose. FULL POST

'24' premiere is exhausting

Oh January... how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Christmas has come and gone, the new year is underway, and Fox's "24" has finished its season 8  premiere.

Each week, loyal fans of this show feel like slackers by the time the credits roll. Jack Bauer seems to do more in the 24 hours of the single day that unfolds in a season, than most of us do in our entire adult lives.

The series premiered in a two-night, four-hour flurry of bullets, espionage, government database hacks and kidnappings. This season, CTU (Counter Terrorism Unit) has a sleek, new "big apple" headquarters. Their new spot seems to be more sophisticated, more technologically advanced, and just a whole lot cooler.

There are also some new characters in the mix, but you and I both know everyone is completely expendable on this show, so don't get used to, or fall in love with, ANYONE. FULL POST
