Charles Barkley impersonates Alicia Keys on SNL

Retired NBA player Charles Barkley channeled his inner lady in a promo for his Saturday Night Live hosting gig that aired on NBC during one of the NFL Playoff games on Saturday.

Barkley donned some jewels, makeup and heaps of fake hair to play musical host Alicia Keyes pounding the ivories for a version of her hit song, “Empire State of Mind.”

The spoof never made it onto the actual live show later that night, maybe because the producers realized that Charles, while good at basketball and surprisingly funny as a host, makes one ugly woman.

Congrats NBC – the only specific sketch you plugged for Chuck's appearance and you pulled it. Obviously this was a single joke sketch with Chuck in drag – and since that was shown and laughed at – no need to continue with what was probably a VERY bad sketch (because the sketches they did go with were AVERAGE to JUST BAD).

What grade are bngineing to teach evolution? It should not be in front of high school when they are ripe, they may form their own opinion. Not to indoctrinate them into it, as others say, do not inject their religion.

What do you mean "because the producers realized that Charles, while good at basketball and surprisingly funny as a host, makes one ugly woman"? Isn't that the point? I like Barkley's sense of humor and fun.

Sir Charles is one of my all time favorites. He's the first one in line
to laugh at himself. I've seen and heard him many times be very
serious on subjects and very funny on others. I respect him alot.

Now, if they weren't afraid to put in stuff like that, SNL might still be funny.

OMG, I wish they would have shown this on the show – it looks hysterical!!! Charles was very funny on the show. The skit about his golf swing was self depreciating riot. And Alicia did a funny short with Andy Samberg – Booty Call – LOL it was hilarious!!! Check it out on the website.

I'd love to see Dick Cheney or Karl Rove do that skit! Maybe Charles can sing backup!
