Carrie Prejean and her sex tape: the biggest hypocrite of them all!

I am seriously over Carrie Prejean’s ridiculous high-horse shenanigans! Since her comments against gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant, this former Miss California has been a walking contradiction of “family values” and boob-job blond mediocrity. And now, with her brand spanking new sex tape mixed with her new tell-all book decrying pornography, I am hoping we can officially crown this woman Miss Hypocrisy and move on with our lives.

The moment Prejean took a stance against gay marriage she has been a media magnet for the political right who hailed her as a new role model for the young conservative movement, symbolizing beauty and values in one fell swoop. But there were big time alarm bells a-ringing from the get-go that little Miss California wasn’t quite the moral princess she was made out to be. Sure we ignored the topless photos that surfaced of the blond beauty… I mean, we ALL know how bad the wind can get when standing on a cliff in nothing but a vest. Yes, she lost her Miss California title because she wasn’t keeping her end of the deal with the pageant – but it didn’t stop her career on the speaking circuit espousing her conservative family values to America – and probably making a pretty penny while she did it.

Now we find Prejean has a sex tape – not a traditional sex tape à la Paris Hilton. But that's not the whopper in this whole story. Are you ready? TMZ is reporting that in Prejean’s brand new tell-all book, she has a section where she actually bashes pornography, writing:

"Unfortunately, pornography has become mainstreamed - it rushes at us through big screens, portable screens; soft-core porn is on mainstream TV cable stations, hard-core porn is just a mouse click away on the internet… the result is that girls grow up in a culture where it is hard to have an innocent, healthy, normal view of themselves, how they should behave, how they should act, and how they should dress."

She then addresses her own topless pictures saying, "Our bodies are temples of the Lord. We should earn respect and admiration for our hearts, not for showing skin to look sexy ... I have since learned that your outer beauty can only get you so far in life."

And I think Prejean has gone far enough on her outer beauty and her ridiculous family values shtick. So far, the sex tape cost her a spot as key speaker at a conservative event on family values in New Jersey this past weekend . Hopefully, that’s the beginning of the end for Prejean. She doesn’t deserve to make money off the conservative speaking circuit.

From this point forward, her career should focus solely on being the butt of as many jokes as possible.

She's the poster child of a hypocrite! She justifies her bad media as "freedom of speech" and being confined for her religious views, when really, she's a sad representation of either elements. Who cares if the tape was made when she was seventeen? Does that eliminate the fact that she had taken nude pictures after having insisted repeatedly that she hadn't? And to be such a strong advocate of her beliefs in Christianity-I'm sure her video wouldn't have been what Christians would hold to revere, either! Her "strong faith" and plastic boobs need a reality check-especially because she thinks the world is out to get her! You brought this all on your own, can you not see that??

    Plastic, spray-painted, hypocritical idiot.

Why can't she for ONE MOMENT consider that she lost the title because she can't speak coherently? The girl who beat her (quick–does anyone remember her name?–didn't think so) was just as beautiful and quite articulate.

Quit blaming your troubles on the "liberal media" and take a good, hard look at yourself, you stupid, stupid girl. (Yes–I said stupid. Videotaping yourself in ANY sort of intimate moment is stupid, whether you're a "Christian" or not.)

First I will start by saying that I am a former beauty queen, republican, and christian. I have many gay friends and even family members. I support their right to marry and have the same rights that I have as a straight woman. My beef with Carrie is that she claims she lost the pageant because she didn't give the PC answer. NO! She did not answer the question that was asked. The response she gave was jumbled, unclear and not spoken well at all! That is why she lost the crown to MIss NC.

She was stripped of her title because she broke her contract. She signed a moral clause and broke it not once but twice! She also was not upholding her contractual obligations by making apprerances the organization had scheduled for her.

She is a hypocrite because she stated this morning on The View that she wouldn't speak of the decisions made in the closed door meeting that resulted in her dropping her lawsuit because "I signed a contract to not speak of the details and I'm not going to break that CONTRACT!
What about the contract that she signed when she became Miss California?!?

I will be the first to admit that I am not a perfect person or christian. But I don't put myself out there acting as if I am. She has brought on MOST of this herself. If you put yourself out there for the world then don't complain when not everyone stands behind what you say. If you can't handle it,step out of the spot light.

She acts like a victim but she also agreed this morning on The View that this is the best thing that has happened to her(concerning her public career) She has a book deal, public speaking appearances, and free boobs! So don't feel sorry for poor little miss Prejean.

I personally wish she'd just go away!

This is to all the folks who have commented that homosexuality is "unnatural" and a "choice": Homosexuality occurs in over 1000 species in nature. It is NOT unnatural. It is abnormal – not the norm – but it is not unnatural. And the only people I've ever met who were making a choice about their sexuality were people who were covering up their TRUE identity (Ted Haggard, Larry Craig, Jim McGreevy). Think about it: we never see gay advocates getting caught in heterosexual affairs, do we? If people actually did choose to be gay, who would stick with it? It'd have a higher drop out rate than Weight Watchers. Surely Elton John would have switched back to ladies by now, right? I mean, it's been 40 years!!!

Russ (whomever you are): Let me be emphatic about this – People do not – in any way, shape, or form – choose their sexuality. It occurs naturally, in much the same way that you did not choose to be developmentally delayed (sorry for that cheap shot, but you totally deserve it)...

She was 17 when the tape was made. A lot of us would not make the same choice at 22 that we would have at 17. That does not make us a hypocrite, just human. If she did it last month, that’s a different story. Again she was 17, give her some grace and stop being hypocrites yourself.

For any that care to know the facts, Prejean made this tape by herself (she's the only one in it) when she was 17 and sent it to her boyfriend. She regrets it, but she was 17 and a minor at the time. Probably made it to try to keep a boyfriend she wasn't going to sleep with at this age. Dumb, but did I mention that fact that she was SEVENTEEN.

A hypocrite is not someone who makes a mistake or fails to attain the standards that they set. A hypocrite is someone who sets a standard as a mere pretense, believing that that standard does not apply to them. It is very lazy to use the "hypocrite argument". Argue the ideas and points, not the person. I believe Prejean will maintain a high standard at this stage of her young life, but she might miss the mark at some points too. Perhaps she should maintain the no standards approach that many of you seem to espouse, that would be easier but also less fulfilling.

Chuck you are very wrong about Religion being the driving influence of the greatest deaths. You should support this. The Crusades only had a fraction of the deaths that just WWII had and Religion was certainly not the driving force there. I also think there is little restriction on seeing graphic sex or violence, so if you want to, you can. I don't think Christianity is preventing that, find another target for your anger.

If you all do not like Christianity or other religions, fine, no one has substantially stopped you from doing whatever you want sexually with a consenting adult. So, what is your beef with those that uphold their religious standards even if they fall short at times? Should it really matter to you? Regarding gays, do you just want to use the term marriage? Why? Because it gives it credibility because you are using the same term heterosexuals use? Why is this so important to you? Why is gay union not a satisfactory term? You can get all the rights of those that are married. But, it is different, you must agree.

    Anyways, back to work.

You people are really making some weird assumptions. I was asking thru the context that if the woman made the film BEFORE she repented, that would make sense as according to the Christian religions, Christ was sent to earth for that reason. Also, asking about pro homosexual verses in the Bible, I have many friends who argue AGAINST the homosexual lifestyle by using the BIBLE. My OPINION is this; as long as you are two consenting adults it is none of my business. I am all for OPEN discussion. Alot of my homosexual friends are asking me to find anything I can, as they also consider themselves as christians. If people would have bothered to READ my first remark, I did not come out for or against gay marriage. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, with the assurence that no ONE religion would be sponsered by the federal or state governments.

First, to those who keep accusing open-minded people of being hypocritical because they aren't tolerant of people like Carrie P., let me say this: tolerance of others is a value that all should follow, but that does not mean we should be tolerant of stupidity. That being said, it's amazing that in this supposedly enlightened age, there are STILL people claiming that homosexuality is a choice, that "God" made people to be either men or women and have a "natural" desire for the opposite sex. If it were as simple as that, why did "God"create hermaphrodites (e.g., Caster Semenya), who are neither men or women, but have physical traits (i.e., sex organs) of both? Sexuality is not as simple as that: it is no more natural for a straight person to desire a member of the same sex as it is for a gay person to desire someone of the opposite sex. And to suggest that a person would "choose" to be gay, and thus willfully subject themselves to a life of pain and ridicule is, well, the definition of stupidity.

Well "Debra R"...I would just have to say, that you should take your own advice on the "judge not lest ye be judged". I think its pretty obvious that Ms Prejean wasn't a "traditional family values" advocate until she was made into one by the conservative movement after the whole gay marriage question and to think otherwise, I believe is pretty naive. Fame is pretty hard to come by and the bottom line is that people will get it however they can. This was her way. Second of all, gays that are against gay marriage don't deserve to be grouped with the rest of us. So, they disapprove of their own lifestyle? Strange. Third, the Bible also preaches against shell fish and I have yet to find a passage that encourages it, but I can tell you that Red Lobster is pretty well impossible to get into on Sunday afternoon after church. If you want a strict interpretation of the Bible, than sell your daughter into slavery...

When we make bold stands and statements about what we believe in we better be ready for people to take a full-on look into our own lives. It works both ways. Oh and one other thing to keep in mind, Christian right, God doesn't write books, men do. Men who lie to control your thoughts and actions. And if it were true that God wrote books, how come the Bible expressly left out the 1st Gospel of Jesus who, and I paraphrase, stated "Do not look for me in houses of stone and wood, for I am the rock and the trees." In other words you won't find God in a church or in the opinion of other people.

Where is the anger towards him liberal women? Also, do you think Christians dont have sex? The original article was extremely harsh, as are most of the comments posted. Someone who repents of her sins is not a hypocrite, and someone who condemns someone who is repentant by calling her a hypocrite is behaving as if repentance has no value. (Or else doesn't really ever happen)

Great strides against slavery were made by a repentant slave trader, (The author of "Amazing Grace") and this repentant slave trader was a great moral encouragement to William Wilberforce, who was successful in getting slavery banned in Britain long before American did.

We should welcome and encourage repentance, not fly off the handle in mindless rage at someone who repents by calling that person a hypocrite. And by the way, very few of us are totally free from being tinged with hypocrisy.

I am a Chrisitian but do not agree with what she has done. Her actions are hypocritical and people who do what she has done is what has eroded people's view of anyone who calls themselves a Christian. I am not perfect, have made mistakes but believe that we all have to answer for our own actions. I believe that if you are against homosexuality then you need to also be against all of the other sins that God has expressed to us. I cannot throw any stones because I have sinned but also believe that Jesus' message was to love each other. The person should be held close but the sin held away. Our society has decieded that judgmentalism is the way to be. All it creates is barriers and hatefullness.

It's interesting to witness the "tolerance" of left-wingers on this site.

And since when does being a Christian and not being perfect make you a hypocrate?

Christians are people that have beliefs base on the Bible of what is right and wrong. They are still people and make mistakes.

The difference I see between Christians and Christian-bashers is that Christians know what is right and still make mistakes whereas Christian-bashers also make mistakes but don't like being told that something is right or wrong and therefore do not have to feel guilty.

By the way, I'm a Christian and sometimes I'll slip up and lie. Sometimes I'll even slip up and look at porn. The Bible does say, "judge not lest you also be judged." However, pointing out to someone that something is wrong is not the same as judging them. How is anyone supposed to know what is right or wrong if you don't inform them of it. Jesus pointed out people's sins to them countless times but he never judged them for their sins.

First of all, if you know you have skeletons in your closet–don't go around condemning others. People who come to God later in life need to remember that while they may have repented, their past is still part of who they are and will be as they go on in life. She is one of the worst kinds of people–speaking against things she has no experience with and that she wishes she hadn't done.

She made a dirty video–own it.

And as for all the conservatives against gay marriage–what makes having male genitalia and female genitalia the basis for a solid and secure relationship? Half of all straight marriages end in divorce, so lets not act like its some divine right. Straight people throw that commitment out the window faster than they can order a Big Mac.

We need to go back to the separation of Church and State. Marriage has become the final frontier for those proporting to want to cling to traditional values. I don't care who anyone wants to sleep with–that is not the business of the masses. Marriage is a union between two people who want to honor and protect each other–not some sacred blessing only God bestows on a man who loves a woman–we are all God's people, just because you don't find it in the Bible doesn't mean that homosexuality is wrong. He made all of us right? or to all you Christians out there–did he just create an abomination for you to condemn for the fun of it?

Everyone needs to fall off their high horse–and hard.

  42. Tolerance is NOT validating or agreeing....

Tolerance does not equal acceptance or people validating your views or belief system....where does the Gay community, get off thinking that tolerance means that we have to agree you are right and good in God's eyes...That's what this is all about....if you want to be Gay, go do it in your own home, but shame on you for getting upset that people won't VALIDATE or AGREE with you....tolerance means "up to this point, no further"....not agreeing or accepting your views as valid.

The Gay movement is not happy unless everyone agrees and validates and pats them on the back and says "YOu know what? You're good in my eyes and God's eyes too"....they won't stop until they hear that from people. Gays have ZERO tolerance for people that won't validate their lifestyles.....you are either FOR them or AGAINST them....they leave no middle ground and that's the problem. They create their own polarized issue since most if not all Christians I know don't hate Gays or want to discriminate against them, but they are almost universally tired of being made to be FOR or AGAINST Gays.....can't we just disagree with your lifesteyle without you all getting pissy on us? I guess not, as evidenced by your attacks on Carrie....it had nothing to do with anything but her view on Gay marriage.

I am betting the same people demonizing Carrie Prejean are the same ones demonizing Sarah Palin....it's not about hypocrisy, it's about you wanting someone to validate your beliefs.

Don't you understand that by undermining Carrie, Sarah Palin and others you are destroying your own freedom at the same time.............

It's always a one way street with the Gay community.....ZERO tolerance toward Christians, yet they want all these news laws aimed at just them and it's just wrong and completely unnecessary....

Conservatism as a life philosophy can be summed up in three phases :

Do as I say, not as I do.

I got mine and to hell with anyone else, if they're suffering its because they're lazy and/or sinful.

When facts disagree with my opinions or beliefs, it is the facts that are wrong. I'll just find someone to come up with some new "facts" that agree with me, and these shall be gospel truth in the face of all else, no matter how illogical or unverifiable my new "facts" are. Anyone who might be smarter and/or better educated than I am is a traitor/devil worshiper by definition (unless they agree with me), and anything they say can be safely dismissed out of hand in favor of my gut feeling.

And the rider to to the above :

Any reaction to my beliefs that is not total, uncritical agreement is treason, and serves as absolute proof that whoever disagrees is a freedom-hating communist who eats babies for Satan. I will respond to any point they make with "Why do you hate America/Freedom/Capitalism/Jesus ?" until they go away, whereupon I will claim total victory.

Simply see the wingnut commentary above for examples.

Prejean is right about one thing: if Sean Hannity had spoken of her as Keith Olberman has, he WOULD be take off the air. Hannity is employed to praise people like Carrie Prejean, who claim to be the "victims" of gay people. He would be fired for telling the truth, and not hewing to Faux News's company line. On the other hand, if Prejean had lost the crown for SUPPORTING gay marriage (as in most years she would have been; Perez Hilton as a judge is not something that is common at beauty pageants), you wouldn't hear Hannity standing up for her "free speech" right to win a beauty pageant (a right she seems to thing she intrinsically has, and which she believes can only be denied her by foul and illegitimate means). In fact, Prejean's answer wasn't just intolerant, it was factually incorrect (gays do not have the choice in America of whether or not to marry, unless they live in certain places) and stupidly phrased. One of the things we expect from the winners is that they be a little glib when they're asked a question. And some of the girls on that stage may even have been using their own natural breasts.

I don't find her to be a hypocrite. I find her to be a girl who has made mistakes and has admitted to those mistakes but still believes what she did was wrong and that it is still wrong to do those things. We all make mistakes like this. We all say things we believe in but if someone dug into our pasts they would find things we have done that contradict our beliefs. We are imperfect people. We can truly believe something but that doesn't mean we don't fall down and make mistakes that go against our beliefs.

When was this tape made? No one has said yet when it was made. She is a young girl. Think of some of the stupid things we have all done as young kids that we would probably not want made public or that we regret. We all have regrets in life and we have all done things we are not proud of. But that doesn't mean we don't believe in the things we say. No one is perfect and people need to start understanding that. Is this how you all would act if your own son or daughter were caught in a web of mistakes and bad decisions? My guess is that you would love them anyway and try to help them get back to a better path. How is beating this girl down going to help her?

2 points I see on here all the time.

People ask "how do you know" that people are all born straight? I ask, how do you know that you are "born gay". I am merely going with what is natural. People say, well, there are many animals that are gay. hmmm, so you want to compare yourselves to a couple of dogs humping in the street, huh? well, I just might have to reconsider...

Another thing people always do is say if you are against gay "marriage" it is the same as being against interracial marriage (which, I really don't like that idea either) . Too bad most blacks are also against gay "marriage" and even resent being brought into the argument. Your argument kind of loses steam then, huh?

Sin is sin. Pontificating on another's sin is wrong. Equally wrong is trying to justify or excuse one sin by pointing out the sins of others. We will all stand or fall on our own merits, not the righteous or unrighteous opinions of others. Perhaps Christians should simply encourage others to consider the possiblity of a real relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Since Jesus is Lord, its only his judgments that will matter in the end. Blessings to all in this discussion.

The Miss USA pageant is pure entertainment – nothing of societal value ever comes from Donald Trump. It was to make money and cause sensation. Why else make Perez Hilton a judge? They were hoping for a Jerry Springer moment and they got one. They main characters here all got exactly what they wanted – with the exception, perhaps, of the actual winner of the pagaent.

The difference being that a liberal will not tell you how to live. You can make up your own mind on what you want to do. No one has to agree with gay marriage to allow it to be legal. It can still be something you disagree with, but since when do you have to agree with everything legal that someone ELSE does?

The only people gay marriage has anything to do with is... gay people who want to get married. No one else should have any say in it, whether they agree with it or not.

Live and let live. Or don't complain when some of your rights are taken away someday by a large group of people who don't happen to agree with you about something.

Also, ask yourselves this: why hasn't the world come crashing down yet in the states where gay marriage has been legal for some time now? It obviously hasn't changed anything except that gays have the same marriage rights. No straight marriages have been endangered by these laws.

To sum up: it's not anyone else's business to start with, and it's not hurting anyone where it's already in practice... so... what's the problem other than people are bigots?

The vast majority of religious conservatives are hypocritical. Everything they say & do is filled with contradictions. They endlessly preach God's love & demand that everyone live their lives (supposedly) as they do.

But as soon as they get caught doing something they preach against (such as gay sex, affairs in Argentina, drug abuse, nude pics, etc etc etc), they quickly explain their indiscretions as a "weak moment" or I was young & naive ... & of course, they always mention that God has already forgiven them, how convenient!

Stop preaching to other people how they should live their lives. YOU are not perfect & if God loves YOU after YOUR mistakes, then surely God loves others when they make mistakes.

Religious conservatives should focus on changing their own behaviour before they set expectations for others. It's called tolerance, try it.

Here's the reason why people are sick of conservatives in this country...you're supposed to be asking "what does the Constitution say about gay marriage?" The Christian Bible is not the basis of laws in this country! If you want to live in a country where the government takes its instruction from a religious document, move to the Middle East. Just because your professed religion is in the majority, take no safety from a government that starts to legislate based on your own religious views – you may not be in that majority forever, or in all circumstances.

And someone posted the fact that the US is supposed to have separation of church and state so why do we have to listen to the so called "moral" majority tell gays that they can't be married? In the US you don't have to have a church wedding. And by the way....I'm straight and married! I have no problem with gays marrying. Why shouldn't they? And yes the Old Testment DOES condone slavery AND multiple marriages. Since the Bible tells us it's ok, should we go back to those days too? And if I'm not mistaken the Bible mentioned somewhere about women covering their hair. That means Islam has that right! All of us women should be wearing headscarves!

As all of you work so hard to tear her down, remember that being Christian has nothing to do with being perfect but being forgiven. As far as people being gay, nobody is condemning anyone. As Christians, we are to love the sinner but hate the sin. Are you saying that gay people are nothing but a product of their actions and so by condemning their behavior that we are condemning them? Seems awful small thinking if that is the thinking. There are some in religious circles who get that confused but Jesus didn't and I have not heard where Carrie has either. Try to remember that when you attempt to supress the voice of opposition by pointing fingers at their character that for every finger you you point at the behavior that you are pointing at least 2-3 fingers at yourself and your actions.

The far left always seems upset by so-called hypocrasy. When someone on the right falls out of line they jump all over it. I would say that since most on the far left just do not have values, morlas, or sound judgement, they need this to feel better about their own shortcomings. Kind of a "ha! they did it so I don't feel so bad for doing the immoral stuff I do!"

The difference is, at least on the right they strive for some sort of value system, especially with kids. It doesn't mean everyone is perfect and they never claim to be. The far left just tends to say 'screw it all' and offers up no moral guidelines, even for kids.

Yet another media-slanted population-control attempt...and we always fall for it.

Why not start covering real stories about current events that extend beyond fancy dresses and five course menu's...oh, that would take you going out into the real world where people are loosing their jobs, houses and stability that this country has not seen since the 1930's.

Let's see ... She lied on her Miss California application stating she'd never posed nude ... pics came out and she said "Oh, I forgot about those, they are modeling shots." Guess she forgot about the sex tape too. She said on Today this morning that she did it when she was 17 and it was OK because she was by herself and she did it for her boyfriend. Hello??? Porn is porn, whether you are by yourself or with a crowd. She was filing a countersuit against the Miss California organization when they asked her to pay back the money used for the breast implants. Then the sex tape surfaces and she suddenly drops the suit. She would do well to drop out of sight and quit trying to make a buck by saying she's a "good little girl who's been badmouthed and talked about." If you can't stand the heat, leave the kitchen.

See, I don't really care what it says in the Bible about homosexuality or anything else, because I don't believe in the Bible. And that is my right under the US Constitution. If you believe in it, that's fine. That's your right under the same document. But just shut up about it already and stop trying to force other people to accept it.

As for Ms Prejean, who the heck is she? She has no more moral authority than the milkman or the lady at the deli counter. Why anybody would think a bottle-blond, boob-enhanced hypocrite participant in a T&A contest knows more than anyone else about morality is beyond me.

I cannot speak to the particulars of Ms. Prejean, as I am not, nor should I be, privy to her personal matters.

It is important to remember that followers of Jesus Christ are held to a high standard and are commanded to be perfect. God stated "... be holy as I am holy." In 1 John 1:8-9, God's word says "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Thus, while we are forgiven of our sins and are held to the highest of standards (that being of Jesus Christ), we still will stumble. Therefore, we followers of Jesus are "hypocrites" by definition.

Fortunately, God gives us mercy and grace through His son, Jesus. "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." – Romans 5:8

Sometimes we do things we don't think are right. We all lie at least once. Take something we shouldn't. Think bad thoughts about people we shouldn't. Everyone does this. Does that make us hypocrites? Perhaps, but I just think it makes us normal. If this is to discredit Christian values because "all Christians are hypocrites" keep in mind every person in the Bible made mistakes, Moses, David, Peter, Elijah, Samson, pick any name you like. (Except Jesus of course). That doesn't mean they were hypocrites, it means they are people who made mistakes and did things they knew weren't right.

I find it amazing how so many Christians need to spend more time with a dictionary instead of the Bible.
Here's a word. "Empathy". The Christian Bible bunch need to be capable of empathy to understand how many people DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE BIBLE.
Are you capable of understanding that? Cabable of putting yourselves in the shoes of someone who sees the Bible as just a book that makes a lot of people self righteous and judgemental?
So to the "Debra R's" of the world who want someone to point out where the bible says homosexuality is ok, suggesting that that is the only place that should matter (to anyone.), have some empathy and recognize how many people do not care what the Bible says and will never read it.

I agree with some aspects that Debra R...but........she stands up there and yells at all different types of people and judges others herself. The bible, in the old testement people were stoned for adultry. DEBRA.....because you believe in the Bible, does that make it right to force certain views from that Bible onto others? This is and always has been the simple question that needs to be ask...."Who is to say...that your view of religion is the correct view"...NO ONE CAN, and you honestly have no legal, honest, and full proof that the Bible is the GO TO FOR EVERYTHING. YES, certain things from the Bible like murder and stealing should be base points for laws, not because it comes from the Bible but because you would have a general breakdown of society if you allowed those types of things to openly happen and go unpunished. Looking at marriage....Gay marriage isn't the problem with straight marriage....its straight people. LOOK AT THE DIVORCE RATE.....straight people (like myself, once divorced) cannot take marriage seriously. The two gay people living down the street from you isn't a threat to your marriage, its the porn on the computer a person views when their partner goes to bed or isn't home, its the lustful thoughts they think when out with friends about someone else, its the fact that straight marriage is a joke, and the divorce rate proves it. Until STRAIGHT COUPLES can respect the institution of marriage, why should you make laws that protect said "Institution of Marriage". For damn sakes....It is estimated that 40% of all marriages have ended in divorce as of 2008. This 40% number isn't because BILL/BOB or JANET/STACY are living together down the street from you, having OMG.....gay relations behind a closed door, or wanting to have the same legal rights that you had in your first marriage and (funny) now have in your SECOND marriage (because the first one just didn't work out lol).

Then the main thing Ms Carrie Prejean needs to remember is this, and this is why I can't stand church, tv ministers, and other people who act holy'r than thou....."The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door, and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." Brennan Manning

This is what is wrong with people like her, and this is why people are giving her such a hard time. If she just stood there, answered the question and didn't use it has a soap box and not jump on the train with all the conservative talk show and news media people for her chance at fame........this would not be news. Like they say, "you reap what you sow " and "don't throw stones when your house is made of glass" I have no sorrow for this girl, never have and never will. I let people live their lives, don't directly and I MEAN DIRECTLY IMPACT ME and we will get along fine....only because I have lived and continue to live a life that may not be viewed by some people has the best....but I have fun, i take care of my responsibilities and that is all that matters. Good bye to Carrie when she decides to fade away like she should have 30seconds into her 15 minutes of fame.

I'd like to start by saying I'm not a fan of Ms Prejean, however the girl was asked a question in a beauty contest and she answered what she believed in her christian upbringing, she doen't believe in gay marriage. Who cares, she's was in a beauty contest not a member of congress, a spokes person for the whitehouse or a UN delegate. I am sorry but if your rolemodel or your childs rolemodel is a beauty contest winner, well your life is pretty sad. People are free to have an opinion even if it's different from you and me.
As for her being a hypocrite, I disagree. She made mistakes in her past, that doen't make her a hypocrite it makes her a faulty person like the rest of us. I know I've done thing wrong in the past that i realise now it was wrong. If I robbed someone in the past and now fight against crime I'm I a hypocrite or a person that changed there life?

Her answer should not have brought about so much controversy. Her answer was her own personal opinion and I do not believe she should be criticized for it. I do not judge gay people, straight people, porn people, etc. and I do not judge this lady. I have enough sins stacked up in my past and I am struggling with sin everyday that I don't have enough time to keep up with everyone else's. Please stop talking about Christianity like it is a plague. And a preacher's job in the pulpit is to preach/teach God's word. The man in the pulpit is no better than you, me, or this lady here. He is only a tool being used by God. So as far as practicing what he / preach – it is very hard to do but thank God he is not keeping score....we do not enter heaven by our works. We enter heaven through Jesus Christ his son. I won't quote scripture, but if you do have time, please read these passages: Romans 3:23; John 3:3; John 3:16; John 14:6; Acts 17:30; Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20-21; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:36-37.

She could have used the sex tape revelation as a springboard for a really deep, meaningful book aimed at millions of teen girls who feel pressured to do things like make sex tapes for their boyfriends or take off their tops for beads at Mardi Gras. Instead she wrote a holier-than-thou, self-idolizing piece of garbage that won't help anyone but herself, her manager, and her accountants.

And for anyone who says that being gay is a choice that came be overcome by becoming closer to God/Jesus... just look at how much being "closer" to God helped Carrie Prejean! Being Catholic, I understand and admire the Christian concept of "judge not lest ye be judged," but in Carrie's case, "practice what you preach" would seem more appropriate. The issue here is hypocrisy, and there is no question that Carrie is a hypocrit. One concrete example is when she declares that the body is the Lord's temple. A devout Christian wouldn't desicrate that temple and get breast implants for the sake of vanity, which is one of the seven deadly sins. It seems to be that Carrie is the one pointing fingers and judging everyone who openly behaves the way she does in secret. She cast the first stone, and she was hardly without sin.

I find it interesting that people are quoting bible verses like "judge not lest ye be judged" or "he who is without sin........." in defense of Miss Prejean, yet somehow it doesn't apply to homosexuality. There seems to be a lot of picking and choosing when those lessons apply. Isn't it hypocritical to invoke scripture to serve your own purpose, then totally ignore it when it serves someone you disagree with? And as for Debra R, The Bible does not condone homosexuality, but there is little that is said about it in general, and the translation of the very few verses is controversial. Also, Jesus never said a single thing about the topic. He socialized with prostitutes and beggars. The lesson here is that Prejean is being hypocritical and so are the rest of us. The difference is that we aren't abusing a captive audience to forward hate speech or for monetary gain (remember greed?? Jesus didn't like that either), and parading as if it is her mission from God.

Whence we realise that mass brainwashing has taken place in different design over the centuries claiming a decree from a higher power only then will be united as one humane race.

That my friends like Jesus second coming is never going to happen. Man has controlled men with the "writings" of GODS, and that WILL my friends never come to an end. (BTW I never saw the pagent, nor do I really agree with her comments; I am just impressed with this kid's publicity judo)

    2) I am not sure what making a sex tape or having nude pictures of oneself has to do with being Christian. The religion is not somehow anti-sex, just anti-fornication. Now "conciously" releasing those tapes/or photos for the purpose for the purposes of arousing someone other than a mate or ones self might be objectionable. I actually see the public beauty pagent itself as more questionable than private documents.

I'm fully prepared to cut Carrie Prejean some slack even though I'm not necessarily in agreement on her political views. For the record I'm sexually straight and a Lutheran. I can look back on some of the things that I did when I was in my late teens and early twenties and can appreciate how careless and stupid some of those things were.

The problem I have is that if you're going to set yourself up as the moral judge and jury over the actions of others then you're own personal and sexual history had better be beyond reproach otherwise things from your past will come back to haunt you and then you end up looking like a hypcrite. Carrie Prejean was a little naive to believe otherwise.

Carrie would probably have been better off coming clean with her past first and then express her views and gay marraige, pornography and the rest. She could come off like the sinner who came clean and would have bought herself a ton of credibilty. Doing it backwards like this has backfired on her severely.

Whoever has been giving her advice on all this should probably be fired yesterday.

People speaking on the Bible out of hate rather than love...taking quotes out of context, the old testament out of context, disregarding the new testament...the Devil quotes the bible too you know. Take the Bible as a whole, But to do that you have to read the entire thing.

Then others declaring that they know people are born straight. How would you KNOW that? We are all made by God, we all have a sinful nature, all sins are created equal, and we all fall short of the glory of God.

People can be misguided as they try to tackle homosexuality and abortion as abominations and disregard other commonplace sins in today's society.

In the end, I really think comment sections should be eliminated on the internet. It has only become a way for hate and arguments to be spread. I doubt many of you would say the things you have to someone's face.

Wow, a lot of people are slamming her for getting breast implants and taking some topless photos. I guess that disqualifies her from having an opinion about gay marriage. I guess if thats the case, then 3/4 of women in Hollywood shouldn't have an opinion on it either. Unless of course that opinion is in line with leftist groupthink.

    @ Camille.

I'm sorry but every gay person I've known did not choose to be so – they were born that way (yes, God made them gay). So objecting to gay marriage on the grounds that it is a choice IS like saying that interracial marriage is wrong. Anyway, the gay marriage issue is about how the government acts towards gay people, not how the church does. If you believe in the US Constitution (i.e., separation of church and state) and equality before the law, there really is no logical reason to oppose gay marriage. Church's are free to not marry gay people; the government cannot discriminate that way against its citizens.

    Hey Rob from Western Australia-

I generally read these comment boards for amusement- but please don't believe for a moment that what gets posted here represents "quintessential America". I would posit that the majority of reasonable Americans don't even post on comment boards like this, nor do they have extreme views as expressed by many of the posts. Most reasonable Americans are too busy with the day to day responsibility of life to have time to post, or give a hoot about some beauty pageant queen's life, hypocrisy or not. i dont understand how people can say we are 'born straight' and CHOOSE to be gay, going against nature.

do you lot know ANYTHING about this 'nature' you speak of?

homosexuality is well documented in many mammals, and is most common in more intelligent species like the common cat and dog, marine mammals and primates.

grey whales have all male orgies where they rub their genitals against one another. bonnet macaques manually masturbate one another then eat the ejaculate. Homosexual activity is absolutely a part of nature!

People are so funny, especially progressives. The argument is always the same. If you have committed sin X, then you can never criticize sin X, without being called a hypocrite. This is ridiculous. It is a way to shut down opposition when you have lost the argument.

Ms. Prejean "sex tape," was made prior to her conversion to Christianity and prior to any controversy. What is more pathetic, is the fact that some ex boyfriend decided to make some money by scandalizing her.

Further, just because she had breast implants does not make her a hypoocrite, and is a nonsequitor. Vanity hits the secularist and the Christian equally.

Prejean's opinion of gay marriage is consistent with most Americans. This is evidenced by the fact that in every state where gay marriage is put to a vote, it is overwhelmingly voted against.

As for Ms. Prejean and her tape, is this something that she did with someone she was in love with? Is this something that was supposed to be kept between two people in love? I honestly don't know. IF that is the case then everyone here who is saying she is a hypocrite needs to shut up because she has just had her trust betrayed. The famous & their sex tapes.

Former runner up at the Miss USA pageant Carrie Prejean's book "Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, & Political Attacks" hits the stores this week, & the blurbs on the back of the book jacket are from Rush Limbaugh & Ann Coulter & the forward is by Sean Hannity. Perhaps they failed to see her latest solo sex tape, as she thought "no one would see it" per Faux News. The sex tape’s existence is reportedly the reason why Prejean quickly agreed to settle a lawsuit against the Miss California pageant. She had been seeking damages of $1 million claiming religious discrimination. She claimed to have suffered anxiety, depression & loss of sleep since her firing, the lawsuit stated. When pageant lawyers first showed Carrie the tape, her reaction was to say “that’s disgusting” & she denied it was her – then the camera angle changed & panned up to her face. She was caught red-handed, so to speak. Carrie was rendered speechless & immediately began talking with her lawyer. News reports state it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to drop her $1 million dollar demand. This is an interesting situation for this young woman who has managed to explain away most of her past controversies, without taking personal responsibility for any of it. As is typical, it’s the people who go around judging others & talking “morals” & “family values” who end up with all the secrets & lies. Per a press release, at the end of her 193-page “book,” the anti-gay marriage activist & bigot writes this message to God: “Thank you for giving me this final chance to honor you in front of the entire world.”

    Pathetic.

    Matthew 8:5-13
What the passage says: To paraphrase, Jesus offers to come and heal the paralyzed servant of a Roman centurion. But the centurion said a visit is not necessary and asks Jesus only to speak words of healing. Jesus praises the centurion’s faith and heals the servant.

The Greek word used here for “servant” was used in the ancient world to refer to one’s same-sex partner. Jesus encountered this gay centurion, healed his partner, praised him for his faith and assured him of a place in heaven.

The Greek word for servant is Doulos, which, according to dictionary.com's definition of the word, in the Word Origin and History section, says the following: "Meaning "professed lover, one devoted to service" is from c.1368." (please see the source for greater detail) Ironically enough, the word was used to mean a lover in the 12th century which is about the time that marriage became a sacrament in the church, before that people didn't give a hoot about being married by the church. Not unless you were a noble and had some land you wanted to expand by marring your daughter to the some guy who also wanted more land. Gotta love history.

Most of all the comments I read here are ignorant. All of us are guilty of some sin in our past that we wish we could forget. The Bible though written by men was inspired by the Holy Spirit and is useful for reproof in our lives today. Sin is sin, no matter how it’s labeled. It’s funny how people want to pick and choose which part of the Bible to believe. You believe murder, lying, stealing cheating etc… is wrong because the Bible says so, but when the Bible labels homosexuality a sin, it’s labeled a flawed document. Homosexuality is a sin PERIOD. Nothing can change that. Nothing!
There are other traits that are labeled sin, such as hatred, lying, cheating, theft, adultery, covetousness, and nothing can change those either. They are sin.
Tell me which one of you doesn’t fall into at least one of these categories? Have you ever lied? SIN. Have you ever taken something that didn’t belong to you? SIN.
Carrie’s life might be the best example of Christian living, but she was right not to condone the gay lifestyle or gay marriage. What if the question were about murder? There are some people who believe its okay to kill another person. If I wanted to justify murder, I could pull out all the stops to try and get people to agree with me and accept that it’s okay. I could try and change the laws I could try and convince people that it’s acceptable. I could yell and scream to get my way. I might change a law or two, but the fact would still remain that murder is SIN and its wrong.

We all want to justify our actions and defend our lifestyle, but that doesn’t make it right. Take a look in the mirror and at all the skeletons in your closet.

Seems to be a lot of people posting on here quoting the Bible, then using Miss Prejean's actions as reasons why we shouldn't believe God. I don't follow Christ because of Miss Prejean...or anyone else. Rom. 6:23 - for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Heaven. However, what Miss Prejean said about homosexuality is correct. It is a sin, and those who practice homosexuality will not go to Heaven. That is the ultimate point of all this. Neither will those who participate in or promote pornography. Neither will those who hoard money. Etc. As for what Jesus would have done...yes, he would have "loved" her, as in the Greek word "agape," which is the most sincere form of love, and a love that does what is needed for a person (even if it is against what that person "wants"). Christ called all to repent, that is, to turn away from sin. All sin. That includes homosexuality. That includes other types of fornication. That includes murder. Yes, in God's eyes, sin is sin, and murder and homosexuality and lying are all equal - sin separates us from God. Christ's love isn't a big old hug and telling us that we're all OK - it's a big old hug and telling us we need to repent, or change, and do things His way - as spelled out in his New Testament. Christ preached it, and it's what His Apostles preached beginning on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:38 - repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins...). As Christians, we do not follow the teachings of mere men (Miss Prejean, any preacher, etc.), but of an eternal God and his all-loving Son.

OK – so some girl, as a teenager (and we all know the only thing dumber than teenage girls are teenage boys), makes a stupid call and sends her boyfriend a few naughty videos of herself... later on, as an adult, she makes a more mature call and declares her opinion that selling sex is wrong...

    ...and she's a hypocrite?

Puh-leeze. There's a world of difference between a girl sharing a personal private video (stupid) and then turning around and selling that video so that people in suits can make money.

Oh – and no one would give it a second thought if she wasn't opposed to gay marriage. If she'd come out and screamed that gay marriage was wonderful and then someone dug up an old video and spread it to TMZ, then you guys wouldn't give it a second thought.

However, she didn't "do porn" as one of you wrote...the tape that is out there is of her alone. She hasn't said anything about the circumstances, but if it was done in private, filmed by a boyfriend (or girlfriend...LMAO) and intended to remain private I fail to see how THAT makes her non-Christian or a hypocrite. All the other stuff, sure, but I do think its a bit unfair to lump that private behavior as hypocritical; it was sold/released w/o her knowledge (at least that's her claim). Let's keep the bashing fair and limit it to actions that she intended to be public, like the anti-gay comments, boob job, backing out on a deal, etc.

interesting to read what some people view as hypocrisy versus freedom of speech and how some seem so quick to forgive one person but not others. As for gay and straight, I think it's a genetic sliding scale. Some are born way over on the gay side, some way over on the straight side, and the rest of us are somewhere between the two. Perhaps some people DO choose to "be gay", but the rest of us are already encoded with who we are. It's my experience that the most rabid gay-bashers are worried about their own sexuality. As for the Bible – the fact that it mentions gays points to the fact that gays have always been around in society. If choice really were an option, wouldn't the importance of choosing not to be gay be in the 10 commandments? Remember what Jesus said: the two most important rules are to love thy with all thy heart and to love thy neighbor as thyself. He also said blessed are the persecuted, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Have you read your bible? The whole "judge not lest ye be judged" statement is thrown right out the window. Check out Leviticus 21:16-24...
21:16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
21:17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

**What the Bible says about blind and handicapped people.**

21:18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
21:19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
    21:20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
21:22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
21:23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
21:24 And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

This why I would hold off on quoting the bible and acting as if it is be the end all be all. Carrie Prejean is hypocrite... anti-pornography? I suppose that tape was a "love tape". And off course her breast implants were not to make her look sexier... pfft. I think that she needs to take whatever money she ahs made so far and avoid the media at all costs.

This isn't really about whether gays should be allowed to marry [they should] or whether people can legally videotape themselves having sex for their own enjoyment [they can]. This is a shining example of the blatant hypocrisy of so-called "moral" conservatives. The dogma they preach — repressed sexuality, abstinence, social discrimination, etc. — are absolutely counter to basic human nature. Consequently, every photo or video or foot tapping in an airport stall, is an embarrassment, not because it's necessarily wrong, but because they have preached how "wrong" such behavior is.

Most hypocrisy is born in the denial of basic human nature.

Being raised "christian" means nothing as far as a personal relationship with God. I have no idea what her walk with the Lord is like none of us do. She has made a choice to state her beliefs in public and in so doing has opened the door for her life to be under a microscope. Who of us would be found perfect under this amount of scrutiny?

To Robert C regarding whether David and Jonathan had gay relationship (1 Samuel 20:30,41)

Please don't read the bible between the lines in a perverted way. It is fairly obvious David and Jonathan loved each other as like-minded brothers serving God, which has nothing to do with sexual relationship of any kind.

    See biblestudy.org/question/was-king-david-gay.html for actual explanation.

Regarding 2 Samuel 1:26, I can clearly understand what David meant. I had a foreign friend who wasn't aware of this country's sensitivity about gayness, who told a fellow that he loved to be with a man more than a woman, and that fellow who was listening to him suddenly jumped to a conclusion that the foreign friend was gay, and the foreign friend explained to me that what he meant was that he was more comfortable conversing with men about inner thoughts and loved to be in companion of men more than with women. He was a 100% heretosexual, and he would have loved to be with a woman, but his love for brotherly companionship far surpassed his love toward a woman as a sexual or marriage companion. That doesn't lessen his love for his wife he later married in any way.

It's just a figurative speech comparing love of brotherly companionship exceeding love for his wife, which itself is quite an endeavor, otherwise Jesus wouldn't have taught that husbands should love their wives as their own life (Ephesus 5:28) if it was easy to do, and he didn't mean carnal attraction.

Did you know that brotherly love is much easier than love with a marriage partner? Men think more alike and can understand each other (and also between women) more than between a man and a woman, so naturally brotherly love can be deeper than love between different sexes. That has nothing to do with sexual attraction between men, and obviously David wasn't talking about comparing sexual attractions toward a man versus toward a woman.

Give me a break. I'm neither conservative nor a fundamentalist Christian, but it's obvious the media has a grudge against this girl. She makes some politically incorrect comments, and everyone and their dog wants to drag her through mud.

And the so-called "sex tape?" From what I heard, it was a home video, maybe for a boyfriend. Instead of warning women about the dangers of making sex tapes for boyfriends, the media jumps on yet another chance to attack her.

And you know, I always considered myself a supporter of gay marriage, but the way she's been treated by so-called "tolerant" people, I wonder if I've been wrong all along. Maybe I should change my mind...

It's very interesting to see people call themselves a Christian in one sentence and in the very next judge Ms. Prejean as a hypocrite because of her choices to pose nude or make a sex tape.
Now I'm not saying that Ms. Prejean isn't a hypocrite but it's still funny.

And why on EARTH should we care what a "beauty queen's" stance is on gay marriage? or world politics? or religion?! That's like asking a kindergardner what they think and then freaking out on them when we don't like their uneducated answer.

@ Mike – "Leaked" or not – she shouldn't be running around preaching about her body being a temple, and "girls grow up in a culture where it is hard to have an innocent, healthy, normal view of themselves, how they should behave, how they should act, and how they should dress." When here she is with her fake boobs and fake tan and tons of make up, prancing around in a bikini in the "Who's the Prettiest Girl in The US" contest? Really.

@ Chris – There is no "Guide to The Scripts" – The bible was written to be interpretive. Everyone interprets it in their own way. Whether you are a Christian or a Catholic, a Baptist or anything else. I can interpret the bible in a way that makes me God and everyone else a sinner but that doesn't mean I'm right.

I think Sarah V. said it best.
"Hypocrites aren't born, however; they're made. And often within the confines of a church. Spirituality can do beautiful things for people, but religion just seeks to divide and overpower."

I'm a conservative and trust me, a 22-year old beauty pageant is not the "voice of my ideals"! I'd have more respect for her if she just owed up to the mistakes she made, wrote about them and how it shaped her in her growth with Jesus. That doesn't make her a hypocrite, makes her human just like the rest of us and hopefully someone can learn from the mistakes she made.

Disclaimer: I don't really take a side on Ms. Prejean. In fact, that anyone is still writing about her is a testament to good media handling, and not merit. But now to my point:

To paraphrase Saturday Night Live, "Kristyn you ignorant slut."

Which is to say, morality is not based solely in our actions. Only the weakest of pop morality would be so devoid of depth as to link Ms. Prejean's actions with any moral stand she might choose to take. My rule of thumb: "People are messy."

Let her sink her own credibility rather than debasing her with ad-hominem hopes that she'll be the butt of someone's joke.

Parents who lose their children in war suffer a grievous and cruel loss. However, they only know about losing their child, not about the foreign policy issues surrounding a conflict.

In fact, one might argue that Ms. Prejean actually CAN take the moral high ground. We don't know if she was coerced into making the alleged sex tape. If she was, then she certainly has the authority to talk about the base moral state in America today.

Thanks for the pop analysis though. Your blog wasn't worth a laugh. It was just laughable.

I think she just said what was in her heart. People have a right to disagree and have a variety of opinions. Not everyone supports gay marriage; look at the liberal state of California. The point is, we will have differences. The real issue is whether or not people can truly be respected for their diversity, even if their idea is not the currently popular one.

The real test of integrity is embracing the truth of your heart. The real test of courage is speaking the truth of your heart. I think she did that.

Debra R– You should read the following information:

The Old Testament makes no menion of Homosexuality, and the New Testament mentions it infrequently and even when it is mentioned, most people don't know the original meaning of the words in Hebrew or Greek–and they haven't tried to understand the historical context in which those words were written.

Also, if you are going to be literal about the bible, consider:
The Bible says clearly that sex with a prostitute is acceptable for the husband but not for the wife. Polygamy (more than one wife) is acceptable, as is a king's having many concubines. (Solomon, the wisest king of all, had 1,000 concubines.) Slavery and sex with slaves, marriage of girls aged 11-13, and treatment of women as property are all accepted practices in the Scriptures. On the other hand, there are strict prohibitions against interracial marriage, discussing or even naming a sexual organ, and seeing one's parents nude.

Get rid of all organized religion and you'll have a good start. It's all man-made anyway. Religion is for the weak-minded who don't have their own inner moral compass to tell them what is right and wrong. You don't need some made-up religion for people to act correctly, you just need education and people raising their children correctly.
When children are brainwashed into believing in religion you have lost idiots like this Carrie with no common sense or intelligence because they're not taught to think on their own as they grow up. They are just taught that God forgives you even if you're a stupid sinning moron and are sorry about it. Sure there are just plain-old stupid people, but a lot has to do with upbringing and education. Maybe by the time this lady is 40 she'll grow up a bit and grow some common sense as well. It might come to a surprise to Jango but the Declaration of Independence was a document where the 13 original colonies declared their independence from British rule and did not address voting rights for any person. The "flawed" document Jango was referring to would be the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Apparently, her mistake comes down to her unwillingness to go along simply get along. Life would've been so "EASY" if only she had come out in favor of gay marriage or just stayed neutral. You DON'T have to be some biblical scholar to know what she is saying is in fact written. But, in these "modern" times choosing to stand by what is written thousands of years ago is passe:

    Leviticus 20:13
" If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them."

    1st Corinthians 6:9-11
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

    Romans 1:25-27

25because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22)

And it goes on, and on and on. But us "Modern" folks still don't get it.
    Romans 1:25-27
    Leviticus 18:21-22

Hmmm! So much silliness in many of these comments.

It is altogether possible to disagree with another persons actions, without mentally sending them to hell! Christianity is about love, kindness, and forgiveness. Professing your belief in Christianity is not the same as claiming spiritual perfection.

Everyone has the right to speak out on their beliefs. Everyone deserves to be loved. Everyone should pause and take a long look in the mirror when they are tempted to place judgement on anyone else. But, we are flawed, and that is where forgiveness comes in.

Maybe you should do a quick survey of Biblical history, archaeology, moral philosophy and a little theology to boot before you make any comments as reductionist and dare I say, childish, as that: there are plenty of serious scholars who have done so and concluded much more substantial arguments and spurred dialogue on the credibility of divine inspiration, infallibility, and interpretation....

If I didn't have the information that I now have, that would be judgmental. Since I do have facts and statements made by Ms. Prejean, not wanting her to represent or endorse any issue let alone Christianity is my personal choice. She certainly is not a mature Christian if she is so superficial and therefore, her comments about gay marriage are moot. She has no life experience and has only been promoted for her sexuality so why are we listening to anything she says? And I want to add that the reason Carrie doesnt like gay people is because her parents divorced over it. I read an article in which her sister spoke out and said that her parents were always accusing one another of being gay, fighting in front of them and one day they went to visit their dad after her parents had seperated and walked in on their dad in bed with a man (who was his roommate). I think she connects gay people to pain from a childhood experience and that is why she hates them. People dont hate without a reason, there is always something that triggers it.

Don't forget that the Bible says that God looks at the heart, while man looks on the outside.. God does not make mistakes, he brought straights and gays to this earth for their own purpose and growth. And may I say that growth is LOVE. If Christians would take a step back and remember that, they would not be condemning gay people for being the what they were called here to be. The earth is unfolding exactly as it should. Remember , judge the heart, not the lifestyle, not the pocketbook, not the attractive, the heart. God Bless.

If you want to talk about complete hypocrites talk about how people like Perez Hilton extol the virtues of "diversity" and "open mindedness" then condemn anyone that has different opinions about marriage than them.

This unfounded talk about a sex tape is just as slanderous as the Miss USA organizations attacks on her because she dared to have her own opinions and not sell out and parrot the majority opinion of the Miss USA organization. If they have a tape where is it? Gossip is usually mostly lies. We know this by now don't we? All the claims I have heard about Prejean are unsubstantiated gossip. It is AMAZING to me that the media spends so much time eviscerating this woman for expressing her opinion, because it is not progressive/liberal. The reaction is far more appropriate to a person who came out with blatantly hateful comments towards homosexuals, not her rather benigh comments that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Many politicians have expressed the exact same views, and yet fail to receive one tenth the public skewering that this woman has.

Whether she has a sex tape, or not, or whatever, doesn't necessarily make her hypocritical. It's not as if it's a tape with her and another woman, saying their wedding vows!

I keep seeing everyone use the "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" line, I really do hope you guys know that the whole story with Jesus and the woman accused of adultury was not actually in the original text of the Bible, it was a folk tale later added by scribes, but is not actually part of the "word of god", or the orignal texts.
ALSO, note that Jesus himself never said a single thing against homosexuality. The only mentions of it are in the old testiment. Don't you think if it was such a big deal, that the big guy known as Jesus would of preached something about it? Espeically since in his time, all male orgyies were a common practice among the wealthy and upper class. Granted he preached to the slums but knowledge of these practices were not hidden, If it was a deffinite no-no he would of at least mentioned it.

Religion should not be used against other people in dictating what they can and can't do with their own lives. I believe we have a nice document that says this called the Bill of Rights. Everyone claiming to be a good Christian would be wise to not say anything on this issue since they are told not to judge as well as not push their religion onto others. Our founding fathers would be ashamed since the seperation of Church and State is a lie. Believe whatever you want, but appreciate and respect the fact that others have that same right and shouldnt' be infrigned on by yours, espeically when the only thing they are asking for is in regards to a legal process. People disgust me these days with all the ignorance....

Christianity, the bible and religion in general should never be used as a way for an individual to position themselves above others. However, that is what bible thumpers like her do. The only lesson that should be taken from the bible, is that we should all treat each other equally. If you consider yourself a Christian but don't accept people from all walks of life, you are a hypocrite, period. In fact 99.99% of Christians are hypocrites! They use their religion as a way to keep people of other faiths, women and gays down. They use their religion as a scare tactic for children and non-believers. They use it as tool to exploit the powerless. They use it to strike terror into the hearts of politicians in order push their own crooked agenda. They use it to weasel their way into positions of power they scarcely deserve. But these are the same selfish people who get divorced 2 or 3 times, sleep with their neighbors wife, lie, cheat, and persecute, but they get to go to church every week, give their $200-$1000 to charity every year and all is forgiven? I think not! Religion is dead (yes, including America's precious Christianity), it has be reduced to a shred of its former self, manipulated and twisted to fit the demands of corrupt (and often evil) human beings. To put it simply, religion is used as a way to justify what an individual wants, and demonize what they don't want no matter the real world consequences. It's all just a big, fat, lie.

With all the Bible-thumping that's going on in the U.S. over the issue of gay marriage, it's no wonder why more and more people throughout the Western World are moving towards agnosticism and atheism. It's heart-breaking to see how horribly wrong we're getting it. God wants us to love one another and to be good to one another.

We have developed a political system that, on paper, grants the same rights and dignities to everyone and allows each of us to pursue a relationship with God in our own way. However, there are those Pharisees and others who will justify their own iniquities to no end while condemning to hell those souls with much more minor sins. Some of them may be sinning intentionally in order to reduce the world to such a state that they bring on the Apocalypse, perhaps hoping there'll be time to "repent" before a wrathful God can turn His attention to them.

If we allow the hypocrites to dictate the rules for the rest of us, there'll only be more inequality, more arrogance and fear and resentment and frustration and, eventually, more confrontation and violence as a result. By exposing the weaknesses in their thinking, by holding the hatred up before the rest of us to deride and thus conquer, we can form a more just and reasonable and accepting nation for all of us, and form a closer accord with God's intentions for each and all of us.

Oh, and I should mention that she is in no way obligated to confess her sins to the public, even though I'm sure that many people would eat it up. Public humiliation has been something craved by the masses since the dawn of time, as watching someone being made to profess their faults and crimes in public makes us feel better about ourselves.

Christianity does not require public confession as a precursor for forgiveness, it merely requires you to ask for it. That might be hard to understand to some people, but I guess you can call it one of the perks.

The world is full of people who are just not very intelligent. I see way too many on this site alone. I can explain, clearly, that you are born straight. That being gay is an abnormality. It is obvious to anybody with eyes. And still you have people like Alumette (not even sure what kind of name that is? boy? girl?) who state that staying that is " not very educated". As if by believing in nature is being uneducated. He/She shows his/her ignorance by even making that statement.

I will tell you what, though. It is sad the amount of people on here who don't believe in God. You don't have to, though. You can live your life living as you want to, just existing. But when you are dead and buried, perhaps burning in hell, then you will believe in god, or at least wishing that you had all of these years when you could.

I don't hate gays. It doesn't change the fact that it is just so obviously wrong to do such an act as that though. I still feel to each his own in their own home. The line is drawn when you start trying to pretend that it is ok. That children are taught that it is ok. That society accepts it as ok. Thank god I don't live in a large city where you, supposedly see this type of stuff out in the open on a daily basis. That is one thing I am very thankful of. Serious gay activists should condemn the fascistic actions of a small gay mafia in trying to destroy a young woman. She may have made some youthful mistakes in her life but found redemption and maturity, even if some disagree with her current views. We forgive Clinton, and the Rev. @Maxine M. LMAO at your comment "OMG...the same people who thing that being gay is a choice are the same people who don't think Carrie Prejean is a hypocrite"

    Its so true. She became famous by stating her values of Christianity and how gay marriage / opposite marriage was not what she was raised on. So some questions to all those that say she is not a HYPOCRITE;

    1) Was she raised as a Christian to take half naked pictures of herself?
    2) Was she raised as a Christian to make sex tapes of herself?
    3) Was she raised as a Christian to judge others who were not raised just like she was or do not believe in what she believes in?

If anyone can answer yes to these questions then I guess both you and her practice a different flavor of Christianity.

I'm Catholic, but I have enough common sense to know people don't choose what they are before they are born. If they can change fine, if they can't, so what. We do not condemn people who are born disabled, tell them they are cursed or make stupid statements as to the reason they are they way they are. What we do is make provisions for them so they can fit in with the rest of society. Tolerance was something that used to be taught in Christianity. We need to start teaching real values.

Many people are quick to call Carrie Prejean a hypocrite when we all have been hypocritical at one point in our lives. We need to stop looking at what others may or may not be doing wrong and instead, look at improving ourselves. How can we do this? Ask Jesus to come into your heart! A sinless man, Jesus, died for our sins so that we may have an everlasting relationship with Him! For those that are skeptical, just seek Him and He will make Himself known to you!

As I understand it, the acclaimed sex tape is years old, likely made when she was 19 or 20. Carrie does have a point when she mentions how young girls are pressured by the media to exploit their bodies, although it's hardly anything new. Every generation decrys the effect of media on youth, especially when new technology goes mainstream that makes it easier for them to expose themselves – camera phones and "sexting" comes to mind for today's youth.

As far as Christianity goes, it's more about forgiveness than it is about living a perfect life. No Christian can, nor are they expected to live a perfect, pristine existance. It's just not possible with all the sin and temptation in the world. That's why Christ died for our sins, so that there would always be a path to redeption should(more like when) we fall astray, so long as we ask for forgiveness.

Wow, that ended up being much more preachy than I intended it to sound. Anyway, cut Carrie some slack. She's still a young girl that has and will continue to make mistakes in her life. You can boo and hiss all you want, but when it comes down to it, she's not hurting anyone and we'd all like to be forgiven if we ever found ourselves in her position.

Heterosexuals act as though they are only thinking of baby Jesus when they are in the throws of orgasmic sex. Many don't like homosexuality because they disagree with the plumbing. All gays would still be gay even if they never had sex. Even if they did not have genitalia. A relationship is more than just sex, but the conservatives want to paint a really dirty picture when gays find nothing dirty at all about their loving relationships which occur in spite of religious bigotry.

Mike so true so true. Just to debunk a little myth on this liberal blog, many Christians are intellectuals. It is such a "cop out" to say that just because someone has values that they are "stupid" or "simple-minded". I am cracking up at the overuse of the word hypocrite on here too. Basically anyone who has ever made a mistake can be tossed that term. I guess conservatives are easy targets because we have values that we are willing to stand up for.

Concerning Debra R's statement, "I would love to see anyone point out in the Bible where homosexuality is condoned, let alone encouraged. i have been unable to find that".

    Here's the answer:

King David was "A man after God's own heart" (1 Samuel 13:14), who wrote major parts of the Bible (dozens of Psalms).

David and Jonathan, "Kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded" (1 Samuel 20:41).

When Jonathan died, David eulogized him by saying, "Thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women" (2 Samuel 1:26).

David's affair with Jonathan was no secret. Jonathan's father, King Saul, knew about it and told Jonathan, "Do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness" (1 Samuel 20:30).

David also liked to perform surgery on the naughty bits of dead guys. "Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines" (1 Samuel 18:25). Instead of rejecting this disgusting request, David fulfilled it twofold. "Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king" (1 Samuel 18:27). Did God disapprove? No. "The LORD was with David" (1 Samuel 18:28).

Carrie Prejean lost me when she professed her belief in Christ, and almost in the same breath said her almost nude model shootings were okay as they were works of beauty. This is hypocrisy, brought on by a watered down version of Christianity; I doubt it very much that this lady really knows Christ, who he is and what he came to do, but then only God knows her heart. As for the gay marriage thing, Yes, we are to love others, but not their sins (Christ followers or not). We are not to judge but show compassion and Christ's love for others without condoning that which is evil according to Christ. It is a fine line to walk and takes spiritual wisdom to make this walk daily. This may seem as judgment against Carrie, but I view it as separating truth from lie. I love her as a sis in Christ, but I can not condone her unchristlike actions. I would sit down and speak with her, if she would agree.

What kind of God requires human sacrifice in the form of nailing his son to the cross? Possibly the same God who sent the Crusaders on slaughtering rampages because "God Wills It"? The bible was written, rewritten and edited by mankind over the past thousand years and is an historical account of a certain timeframe in one small part of the world. Organized religion has been developed by man for the purpose of control over the masses through fear of retribution. It has been said that there are strong paralles between organized religion and organized crime. There's BIG money in the God business.

As for Carrie Prejean she is a hypocrite like a lot of fundementalist evangelicals who sin during the week and become pious on Sunday.

In response to the very first commenter – isn't it customary to admit to sin before you can repent?

If you truly believe that your goal is to send and reinforce young girls of this country to have a more positive and healthy outlook about themselves based on specific examples, why on earth would you A.) get breast implants, B.) pose for nude photos (that no doubt are re-touched) or C.) participate in pornography when these are the very examples you claim are what is causing the distortion anyways?

It seems very easy for this young lady to hide behind the skirt of Christianity and not take any responsibility for her own actions whatsoever. Show me some actual proof she repentant!

And AMEN to those who've said the reason why so many people DON'T like the right wing is because they always begin with "The Bible says…" Start coming up with conservative values that DON'T involve Christianity and you'll see a lot more people who are willing to listen and consider said values. Not all of us are Christians and I am sick and tired of being bible-thumped! My moral compass points north and my soul is just fine, thank you very much!

No one is saying Carrie is not allowed to express her opinions; however, when an opinion is based on a piece of fiction compiled over decades in antiquity (the bible), the opinion should be called into question, as should Carrie's ability to use rational thought. Evolution teaches us that there are varying levels of intelligence; indeed, this is the crux of natural selection. Why should we then all assume that everyone is equally intelligent and therefore has equally valid opinions? I know this is an unpopular viewpoint, but science doesn't lie.

Seems like most "Christians" treat their beliefs like a Chinese dinner menu–one from column A, a couple from column B, etc.

So they pick "against gays" from column A while disregarding Christ's teachings of acceptance and love.

They pick "against abortion" from column B while supporting War, and the death penalty, disregarding Christ's teachings (and of course 1 of His 10 commandments!).

And some pick being rich when Christ taught that the path for a rich man into heaven is harder than a camel passing through the eye of a needle.

So Prejean just followed the example of (seemingly) most US Christians–follow only what you want and disregard the rest.

In my lifetime I have rarely heard the voices of true Christians speaking out against the rampant hypocracy of religious leaders and followers.

    Which war would Jesus start?
    How rich would Jesus be?
Who would Jesus punish with the death penalty?
    Which gays would Jesus hate?
What pageants and porn would Jesus support?

I think that Carrie Prejean has come up against an untrue and false belief (stereotype) where some people think that most people who are against gay marriage both believe in God and are committed Christians. When writers assume that because someone is against gay marriage, they must then be Christian, they make a mistake that can really hinder their understanding of the world. Also, many people believe in God but have not committed themselves to Christ.

So here's Carrie, who believes in God, is not interested in following Christ, and also doesn't believe in gay marriage, like so very many people out there. But she meets a militant gay marriage advocate who wants to make her pay for disagreeing with him, and a media that operates with untrue stereotypes.

Carrie doesn't deserve the ugly words that Ms. Martin hands out, merely because, like most average people, she does not conform to somebody's false stereotype. It's time for the media to admit that many people who are not Christians also do not believe in gay marriage. That would be truthful.

Obviously she is a hypocrite, but for those who keep listing Bible verses and coming out against gay marriage because the Bible/whatever perverted version of Christianity they follow is against it, guess what – we have something called "separation of church and state" in this country. If a specific church wants to prevent a gay couple from marrying in their faith, then have at it. The church is not a government organization. But the government should not prevent it due to solely religious objections. You quote me every Bible verse that has anything remotely to do with homosexuality, but the bottom line is not everyone in this country is a Christian, and not all Christians are homophobic and intolerant. Just like the anti-miscegenation laws that prevented interracial marriage because some people were prejudiced, not allowing gay individuals to marry is denying civil rights, period.

To begin every sentence with, "The bible says,".........", is not academic thought. Nonbelievers do not hear any other words that come out of your mouth right after you finish the three words – the bible says. It is a real stretch of the limits of the mind to hear anyone defend this ugly runner-up. She will always be nothing more than a hypocritical runner-up. Gays will be allowed to marry when progressive minds begin to use their own empirical research to make their decisions and old folks die away. Empirical research!!!!!!!!! Imagine that. In her comment about gay marriage, she talks about it in terms of the values she was raised with. I don't think she was a Johnny-come-lately to evangelical Christianity. So, one can only be led to believe that posing topless, making a sex tape and getting breast implants is A-OK with the Christian right since Ms. Prejean did all of those things while supposedly adhering to the tenets of her faith.

She's just a stupid hypocrite who is/was completely NOT ready to handle her 15 minutes.

" Or where sex, for reasons other than procreation, are condoned."

It's called the Song of Solomon. It's a whole book about the joys of married sex.

What is frustrating to me as a thinking Christian who believes in the authority of Scripture is that so many people who don't think make the name of Christ look bad. They rush to defend people immediately without thinking whether they are wolves in sheep's clothing (as this lady obviously is) and they worry about things that aren't even Scriptural priorities. Any believer who understands the scriptural teachings about the Kingdom of God or the theology of the City of God (which Augustine found in a thoughtful reading of Scripture) would never campaign publicly against gay marriage, or proclaim public morality, because this is not our mission. People on this thread think that Christians are idiots, and the way that they are reasoning, I can't blame them.

If you believe that homosexuals should not marry, you enforce it at the level of the church, NOT at the civic level. Our mission is to spread the gospel via God's ways, not via laws or public coersion. We shouldn't ever tell any unbeliever how they should live. The Scriptures make plain that the ONLY message we have to unbelievers is the good news of Christ, NEVER "you are living in sin and need to stop it."

I apologize on behalf of the church for the uncritical comments made by Christians on this thread.

The above was taken from the article.

My answer ... NAW! She doesn't come close to the Repubs and Conservs. And, in addition to being determined hypocrits, they lie through their teeth on anything that Obama proposes.

Death Panels???? What could be more of a Death Panel than an Insurance Company that tosses you out of your coverage when you have a costly medical problem or a pre-condition Health problem?

Tea-Baggers ... the bought and paid for folks that get bussed to "events", given professionally produced signs to carry, and taught the chants by professional Repubs and Conservs.

I am having issues with this article.
First and foremost, let's start with Gay marriage because that's what you're obviously pissed off about. Religiously, it is unacceptable. So, if her religion says it's unacceptable, why shouldn't she embrace those beliefs?
So, herein lies the problem- if gays belong to a religion where it is 'acceptable' for them to marry, then they have the right to participate in their religion and 'marry'. Regardless of a government recognition of that marriage or not, if their church says they are married, who cares what the governement says, right?
However, we all know that this isn't really about calling it marriage. This is about giving them the rights to have the same legal advantages/disadvantages that a marriage has.
I believe that Americans think that if they agree with 'gay' marriage that they are agreeing that it's ok in God's eyes. It's not our job to do God's job. We are not to judge others. So, even though I do not support it religiously ( though I have a few gay friends) I don't see why they can't have the same 'benefits' of marriage. They might find that they lose many tax advantages, etc. It's not all they think it is...
Regardless, my point is that we cannot and should not control other people's religion as citizens of the US. We can only try to share our beliefs, not shove them down someone's throat.
If she doesn't 'believe' in gay marriage, so what? It's not supported by most religions. At least she answered honestly.
Let me add that almost everyone in their lives does something that goes against their moral compass. In religion this is called 'sin'. It is supposed to be forgiven. By God, not you.

I was raised fundamentalist Christian, and while I have heard many in that community say they were opposed to gay marriage and pornography, I have to say that I've never heard anyone in that community say that it was okay to pose naked for anyone but your husband or make video of yourself performing what is generally referred to in those circles as an Onanistic act (much less perform the act to begin with).

Carrie Prejean did not become a hypocrite until it was made abundantly obvious that she was doing a whole lot of stuff that was not acceptable for the community that was holding her up as a role model. It's all fine and good to hold ultra-conservative viewpoints and get paid to talk about them, but it's another thing entirely to talk in the media about what a raw deal you got BECAUSE of your beliefs when all the time you were willing to show your goodies to anyone who would promise to put you in a magazine.

The answer is yes, she's a big old flaming hypocrite and she needs to shut up.

The biggest question about the pageant is one I've never heard asked:

What moron put the gayest man in America on the judging panel of a beauty pageant? I suppose the same moron who was surprised when he asked a seriously politically loaded question, then got mad when he didn't get the answer he wanted– nay, demanded.

I have no illusions about Prejean- she's popped from the same mold as the rest of the ultra-competitive pageant types, she'll do anything to win. The problem isn't her- it's the fools who set it all up. Seriously, Perez Hilton as a beauty pageant judge? This guy would likely have voted George Clooney above Prejean to begin with. His behavior on his blog after she didn't feed him his DEMANDED answer shows his real stripes- he wasn't an impartial judge. He caused the whole blowup, and Trump enabled it.

It is good to say that certian practices, such as pornography, do much to harm and destroy children, and adults, especially young adults. Anyone who makes statements about the ills of pronography is not making incorrect statements, as I see it.

As for gays getting married, I do not think many Christian churches will ever be performing marriages between gay people. And that is their right, which, thank God, is protected under the constitution. Separation between church and state is not all bad, to me.

However, I am totally against denying anyone their civil rights.

Carrie Prejean's decision to make so many statements about what is and is not moral is her right. However, she has to accept that others will attack her and what she has done in the past will be brought up. It is called, taking responsibility for our actions. She is a big girl. If she can't take the heat she ought to 'get out of the kitchen'. Those who are upset because of ciriticism of her, should 'grow up'.

When you judge publicly, you will, in turn, be judged publicly. That is just a fact. Be adult enough to endure whatever criticisms may follow!

Here is Carrie Prejean's background according to Wikipedia:

"Prejean was born in San Diego, California to Francine Coppola and William Prejean. She was raised in an evangelical Christian household in Vista, California....

"Prejean graduated in 2005 from Vista High School. She is currently a senior at San Diego Christian College, a small, evangelical liberal arts college located in El Cajon, California, and attends The Rock Church, where she volunteers with their outreach ministries. Prejean also volunteers with Luv-em-Up Ministries in El Cajon, where she works with children with developmental disabilities."

In short, Debra R's contention that Miss Prejean might have done all these nasty things before her conversion is wrong. Carrie Prejean was raised in an evangelical family, attends an evangelical college, worships at an evangelical megachurch, and volunteers with an evangelical ministry. She knew very well that posing semi-nude and making a sex tape was sinful according to her faith's teachings, and she has no excuse for her behavior.

In short, she's a hypocrite, and a rather obnoxious, self-righteous one at that.

This is coming from a gay guy from the south. I'm accustomed to homophobes and anti-homosexuality comments and when Carrie Prejean opened her mouth I didn't care one way or the other about her views.

But when it hit the mainstream media and she started her anti-gay campaigning that's when I had a problem. It's fine to have a view and to share it, it's different to propagate your views for the discrimination of millions of people.

Then those nude/semi-nude pictures came out, the scandal about her breast augmentation, her refusal to cooperate with the pageant officials and now a SEX TAPE!?!?!?

NOM preyed on this poor girl because it got them press....but now look at her...she just can't catch a break....and she shouldn't be given one. She wanted a public life...now she has it.

Seems to me that everything in this situation is working out exactly as it should in the United States. Ms. Prejean gave her honest opinion about a political issue (as is her right), then those in charge of a contest in which she had entered voted against her possibly or possibly not because of her statement (as is THEIR right). I could expect the same treatment if I went to my local GOP caucus and asked to be one of their leaders but said I was for big government. It's my right to state my political opinion and their right to not reward me for it because my opinion is against the political stance that THEY take. Same thing as happened to Ms. Prejean; her personal political opinion is apparently the opposite as those of the judges who voted against her.

Now you can all choose to support Ms. Prejean or not, as is YOUR right.

When I was born, to my knowledge, I don't believe that I was able to choose, whether I would be born a baby boy, or girl. For that being said, who would ever choose to be born "gay" ? The fact that people, who have not had the experience of having a child who is gay, might not understand that even though the person who has been born that way, is, at the time they come out", it is not something that one "chooses". Believe when my child discovered that he was gay, he cried. He has been with his partner for 23 years. He and his partner, are devoted to one another. Even though their "gayness" isn't made it comfortable to be this way, they have made arrangements to which ever of the two becomes ill or passes, a will has been made up to protect the survivor, from losing all property. Or, if one is in the hospital, a form has been made, so the other one can visit the other in the hospital. They have made arrangements, so the survivor will be granted all rights given to heterosexuals have. I am proud of my son and his partner.

Interracial and homosexual marriage is not the same. You do not choose your race! You Do chose to be a homosexual. Homosexuality is unnatural and the Bible confirms that. The Bible however, does not say we should hate, it says that we should love our neighbors. But loving our neighbors does not mean we have to agree with what they choose. Judging in biblical terms means saying something is wrong or right without any biblical authority . When the bible says as clear as day that homosexuality is wrong how is it that those who have a conviction and belief in the bible are judging? The bible says it! I don't hate homosexuals. I dont hate anyone but I do not agree with their choice and will not support anything that comes along with that choice.

I understand the perceived need for political correctness, but honestly, I will not refrain from stating my opinion or arguing a point I can reasonably support because I don't want to hurt someone's feelings. I refuse to exempt religion from criticism because just like everything else, if it is dangerous and threatens the needs of society, I will speak out.

That being said, religious reasons are not legitimate reasons, because evidence isn't a factor– it is FAITH in the face of evidence that allows people to make judgements and then claim that they're merely reflecting the bible or representing the stance of their religious faction. This absolves their conscience, and so religious people feel free to say whatever they want, because they feel it isn't them saying it.

It is my opinion that it is a worse offense to support and justify hypocrisy than it is to release a sex tape, admit wrong doing, and then ultimately apologize.

You're right. Christianity is about forgiveness. But it would give her far more credibility as an outspoken Christian if she took responsibility for her OWN actions and then show how she's grown since she's become a Christian. Though I doubt she is a recent converter seeing as in the pageant, she kept repeating her anti-marriage equality stance as something she was "raised to believe". Sounds to me like she was raised Christian.

Regardless, if she's made mistakes in the past, like we all do, she shouldn't pretend like she's this untouchable "Holier than thou" person. It's incredible that she condemns pornography...but then she's in a sex tape? She claims that "Our bodies are temples of the Lord. We should earn respect and admiration for our hearts, not for showing skin to look sexy ...", but she's made her entire CAREER out of showing her skin and looking sexy.

That's the whole point about glasshouses. I would be more inclined to believe her "conversion" truthful if SHE had come out with these really interesting revelations. I didn't care what she thought when she made her comments at the pageant – she was asked a question and she answered it truthfully, even if people didn't like it. But since then, her whole marketing of "moral values" has been a disgusting attempt at cheap celebrity especially since she seeks to minimize her less-than-clean past with the "I have repented" catch-all. The Bible is very clear about speaking out about right and wrong and judging people – "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone", "First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.", and "judge not yet lest ye be judged". Ms. Prejean should read the Bible more carefully to see whether she's within the moral framework that she so self-righteously preaches about.

Debra, quoting the bible in one sentence and condemning homosexuals in the next seems a bit out of bounds. Telling someone else not to judge others and then judging an entire group of people your self is awfully high-and-mighty of you.

And yes, the Bible does not condone homosexuality but it does not endorse prostitution and money hoarding either. However, these are the very people Jesus called to him for redemption. You and I are no better than anyone else. Instead of holding people at arm's length because you don't agree with them or their lifestyle, maybe you should show them the love and compassion of Christ by ministering to them and Jesus would have.

All that aside, marriage is an institution of the state and not the church from a legal viewpoint-so it's the same as saying interracial marriage is wrong in the eyes of the law. This country allows us to be free to choose, and people are allowed to disagree with another's choices, but not to limit them.

Yes, her body is a temple all right. A silicone temple. If she truly believes what she's saying, it seems that she'd have the implants removed and cut back on the hair, make-up, and tanning enhancements. "Repentance" is meaningless unless it's accompanied by action. You can't just say you're sorry; you have to do something to prove it. So far, she hasn't done much, has she?

Gosh this girl is a train-wreck. They should put her and Sarah Palin on a one way street and ask them to go backwards. If this is the new face of the Republican party no wonder we are the laughing stock of educated people oll over the world.

Perhaps you should pay attention to your own comment, especailly regarding gay marriage:
Judge not lest ye be judged.

So Debra R you are saying it is alright for her to be a hypocrite. Its alright for her to talk about conservative issue and things like that, but turn around and do porn and take topless picture. Is it also alright for her to get breast implants. If all these thing are ok then the conservative view is looking kind of left.

This all stemmed from her expressing her opinion..sad how ppl are treated for speaking your mind w/o having someone literally tear you down. Just as gays have a right to express their opinion, so is a straight person. This doesn't give anybody a right to be ridiculed for their belief.

There is also a saying to those who judge her, "Let He Who is Without Sin Cast the First Stone"....

Now since that is all settled, I think we can all return to our lives and stop judging lest we be judged in that same standard, b/c frankly that stone we are so keen on throwing to someone might just land on ourselves.

It would be interesting to see when the tape was released BEFORE leaping to the conclusion that the woman is a hypocrite...after all if it was BEFORE her conversion, that would be understandable as Christianity is about repenting .

As for being against gay marriage I know a lot of people including gays who are against it. that does not mean you are or are not "christian". However I would love to see anyone point out in the Bible where homosexuality is condoned, let alone enciouraged. i have been unable to find that.

There is also the Bibical saying "judge not lest ye be judged"
