Adam Lambert's new cover

Full disclosure here: My name is Jenny, and I’m an "American Idol' fan. With that out of the way…

Have you seen it? Adam Lambert’s album cover?

Well, you should.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a picture from my favorite movie when I was 5 – "Xanadu."

But no, it’s the cover art for "Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert’s debut album.  His blue hair, rainbow eyeliner, overly photoshopped face and no shirt (but is he wearing roller skates?!) picture definitely grabs your attention.

The photos released last week from Lambert’s Details Magazine shoot also grab your attention. If you haven’t seen those photos, just click here.  Pretty crazy, huh? Clearly this is a guy who likes to push boundaries – all of them.

Adam, though, seems to find the blogosphere buzz over the cover a little strange.  He tweeted out today his exasperation with people who didn’t get his "omage" – his spelling, not mine – to the campiness of the past. Hey … maybe my "Xanadu" reference wasn’t too far off.

If you’d like your own personal copy of "Xana" - oops, sorry, Adam Lambert’s "For Your Entertainment" – the album will be released on November 23.

adam lambert is ugly... i am so glad he didn't win american idol. he didn't deserve it at all. at first i thought it was the hottest thing on the block but when i found all that stuff out bout him. i was like no way.. he shows that he is gay to much. and his abulm cover is just gross....it makes me what to throw up.. but he is a awesome singer and he has a long life ahead of him.he will be the next big thing though.

I think the cover is beautiful! Adam is a beautiful person who knows who he is and he has an awesome voice. I have been waiting for this album since AI. When he sings he takes you into the music. I just love him. He reaches all ages. I am a 69yr. old mother and grandmother. Some of you people need to get over your selves.

Well no matter what your opinion of the cover is, it has generated a mega ammount of attention. This is type odf hype usually costs big bucks in promotional marketing and you naysayers are doing it for Adam for free. By the way, can someonbe tell me where is Chris Allen these days and who is bloggng about him??? I,ll bet he's headlining at some county fair as we speak, lol.

Be thankful you live in a democracy where an artist (or anyone for that matter) can fully express themselves freely. Fixating on a persons appearance is trivial and for small minded people. There are worse things in the world to be concerned about (mass murdering suicide bombers for instance) than a persons style or make up. Perhaps you would like the whole world to be blue eyed, blonde hair and have the rest exterminated like Hitler. You should be happy to celebrate your differences.

He is not a rock star, he just sings cover songs. If he wiped the crap off his face and removed the black shoe polish from his hair then maybe we would be able to judge his talent. So far everyone is distracted by what he says and how looks so much that we overlook his voice. Which is not bad just not unique.

The kid is extremely talented. He also is gay, so maybe he WANTS to look like a woman. Who cares? He's getting what he wants – big time publicity. Whatever works. He should have won Idol anyway. He is far more talented in that he can do any genre of music. The others just sounded like they were stuck in one genre trying to do another. Go Adam!

Just for the record – the 'make-up thing' has nothing to do with being gay. I'm gay and I look like a man. A lot of straight men like to wear make-up. To each his own.

When you read through all these comments, the reality of how far we have to go – where acceptance and tolerance are concerned – it glaringly obvious. It's sad, and a bit scary that the haters don't realize the pain they cause – or even worse – they don't care.

The list of artists that this fall right in line with contains artists that could be categorized anywhere from fairly successful to legendary. David Bowie, Queen, Elton John, Poison, Boy George, Michael Jackson, and Kiss all "pushed the boundaries" in their heyday (Some are still pushing). Every one of them had the self-confidence to do what they wanted, how they wanted. What's so shocking? Is it the fact that no artist has had self-confidence like his in over 20 years? It's about time music became a complete ART package again, and not just depressing self loathing.

Okay, let's keep it real for a moment. Adam SHOULD have won Idol on his own merit, period. Everyone knows that. Chris was mediocre at best and I believe people prejudged Adam because of his obvious sexuality. The man has no boundaries. He's not PUSHING anything except some of your buttons. This guy is brilliant. He is exceptionally talented with a vocal range that nearly breaks sound barriers. He is in total control. Yes he can scream too. I believe the makeup artist deserves notariety as well, but he is a beautiful young man and it would be hard to screw up here. The picture is a little weird, but it's all about marketing and advertising. Let's see how this all unfolds. My bet is that it will hit number 1 within a week. ADAM YOU ROCK ON!!!!

If you don't want the most interesting thing about you to be your gay, then don't let it be. Adam has let it be. I have no problem with Adam being gay but does that have to overshadow everything ? He has chosen to make it so. Its so cliche' already. Why would you downgrade your talent by becoming a cariacature of yourself ? If he had stuck to his musical talent and went forward with some serious singing and enteratinment he would have gained some respect and credibility. Now he has become a laughing stock-and he has done it himself. And btw as a gay man may I say he does nothing to promote the community in a positive light. You potential Adam but you have blown it, 6 months or a year from now people will say "Adam who "

I don't care what's on the cover. It's what is inside that counts. People are reacting to Adam like my parents reacted to Elvis and the Beatles. For the time they were a little different too. The day will come when society doesn't prejudge talent based on appearance. Adam showed his versatility during his performances on Idol. You didn't know what to expect each week. I expect him to do the same with his albums. We'll never be able to put a brand on his style as it will always be evolving. Remember he wants to entertain us.

I personally don't care WHAT his critics say, Adam is not only a singer but has experience in theatre and acting in theatre is all about creating a character and....that's what he's done on hs album cover.
He's going to be appearing on Oprah, I hope, sometime in mid-December and I saw him today, via Skype minus the makeup and when he was on American Idol. To quote Paris Hilton, this man is HOT!! Being openly gay, doesn't bother me at all any more than woman who are openly lesbian, does.
Adam is very, very sexy and his outfits and his voice each time he sang on American Idol, had me glued to the screen. He is one awesome, fantastic looking man. Nothing ANYONE can say against him, will deter me from liking him a whole hell of a lot.

I really have to speak out against the haters/bigots and the just plain narrow-minded that have sneared in this commentary. This article is not about Kris Allen...the contest is over...and Adam won by taking the stage and singing his heart out.

I can only guess all the fear/disgust comments come from those with little things... little minds, hearts, ears, and sophistication. If you are comfortable with your own sexuality you are not disgusted by any other expressing their own sensuality/sexuality. I certainly am not...and even though Adam is not my kind of man...I find him beautiful, talented, and I am not afraid/disgusted by his sexuality. Usually men who are fearful are unsure about themselves and feel it is macho to put others down...these men I am disgusted by because they are so limited...little minds.

Adam is a star because he reached for the stars...the American way...bless American diversity, talent, and courage.

I think Adam looks great. There's nothing over-the-top about the eyeliner. More men should wear makeup.

The graphic design of the cover; however, looks ripped from the 80s and not in a way that evokes either tribute or parody.

Flashback: George O'Dowd. Seen it all before and it's hard to find the generous use of eyeliner shocking. However, I must point out that George had the decency to refrain from posing provocatively with naked women (but then George tended to dominate the photo frame, didn't he?). We all know Adam's gay and that he dabbles in drag, so what's up with the naked women? The whole thing rapidly falls apart and, as an advertising/marketing image, becomes entirely un-believable and un-relatable. Learn from the masters, Adam. Study Madonna, Gene Simmons and Michael Jackson and you'll get an exceptional education in marketing, promotion, psychology and imagery.

I'm a HUGE Adam fan, but think the cover is too garish for a first release, and has taken him from sexy to silly. There's nothing wrong with paying homage to '80s music, but to '80s design? That look was ugly then and is ugly now. The photo is too tranny for mainstream America, and might hurt his sales. Until now, I think Lambert's made very few mistakes, but this is a big one. I'd be reprinting and repackaging - or praying.

I am black, a widow, 60 yrs old, mother of 3(36, 35, 29) and grandmother of 4(7, 3, 19 mos and 4 mos). American Idol is the only 'reality' show I watch. I may catch a couple of episodes of 'dancing with the Stars' but it gets tired very quickly.
I will be perfectly honest with you, When Adam came into his own on the show, I fell in love. He is gorgeous. Has a set of pipes out of this world and a personna that is to die for. There is no reason for a 'man' to look like that(yes, jealousy speaking, no shame in my game). His sexual orientation, well, sigh, as a woman, what a waste.

I'm sure there were a lot of laughs at that photo shoot–he's having fun at his own expense here, and the fans win with some great music, cool pics, and the satisfaction of being in on the joke while everyone else is walking around scratching their heads in confusion. There is a difference between being talented and being stuck up. I find it to be a big turnoff when someone is talented AND has a big head. He has a blessing and just needs to enjoy the ride now because in a year or two, he will drift off into the sunset like everyone else does. Androgeny has been a mainstay of rock and roll -if they do not look andogynous then they sing in a falsetto. Mick Jagger is both sexes combines. It is amazing to me that people are writing in saying he looks like a girl as if that made him Jack the Ripper. If there were less uptight people in the world maybe we would have less violence. Actually, there has been a review of 3 tracks on this CD (posted on Amazon.com):
Lindsey Parker, at Reality Rocks actually got to listen to three tracks from Adam's new Album!

Reading Lindsey's review makes me wish that November 23rd could come a little sooner... I feel like a 5 year old w-a-i-t-i-n-g for Christmas!

So please... after reading Lindsey's review, post what you think, and if you find any other reviews, please return to this discussion and post it. Thank you!

    Here is Lindsey's full review:

    http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/279487/preview-alert-reality-rocks-adam-lambert-listening-session/

Here is what Lindsey said about the tracks she heard:

"Entertainment" – The default title track and statement of intent, masterminded by Dr. Luke (Katy Perry) and Claude Kelly (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson), Adam opens this one up, Rocky Horror-meets-Robbie Williams-style, with the audacious declaration: "I'm here for your entertainment!" And he ain't kidding. This is an ultra-caffeinated party-starter (imagine if Mika, Sam Sparro, and Kevin Rudolf had a threesome that resulted in the conception of a glittery alien baby...if you dare), and it's just begging to be remixed by everyone from Calvin Harris to the Neptunes to Justice–even though it sounds like a shiz-hawt remix already, as is..

"Winners" – A slinky, sexy, salacious dance-rock grinder with a keening, near-orgasmic vocal reminiscent of Adam's watershed "Ring Of Fire" performance, this Rob Cavallo-produced cut cracks open in the middle like a giant whitechocolatespaceegg to reveal a colossal, fist-pumping, Gary-Glittery chantalong chorus that seems lifted straight out of "We Will Rock You 2: Electric Boogaloo." So my guess is Queen's Brian May will be impressed by this massive masterwork, too. A winner, indeed..

"Music Again" – Okay, this is the song, also produced by Rob Cavallo, largely responsible for my current lack of coherence or composure. The minute this glammy tour de force forced its way out of the 19 Entertainment office's speakers, it was so white-hot I was instantly reduced to a puddle of melted spandex and runny eyeliner. A falsetto gang chorus like something off a lost Sweet outtakes album, squalling guitar riffs, pumping "Funkytown" beats...my head was pretty much exploding at this point, but I managed to hold my cranium together long enough to turn to a nearby 19 employee and jokingly state, "This sounds like the Darkness, if the Darkness were remixed." To which the employee answered, "That's funny you say that, because this song was actually written by [legendarily unitarded Darkness frontman] Justin Hawkins, and that's Justin on guitar."

Not a fan of the picture. He doesn't even look like a real person, and frankly, it's creeping me out. I don't think Adam is going to have the same wow-factor as he did on the show. The most exciting part about him was seeing what he would do week to week. I'll be surprised if his album gets as much attention as he did on the show. And what happened to Kris Allen? So much for winning the competition.

He's like a modern-day David Bowie. The theatrics, the make-up, it's all for show. He's probably a very cool person underneath all that – most of us musicians are. Not to mention he's very creative. Everyone wants to be a critic, but unless you have really walked the walk, then your talk means nothing. Most musicians have nothing but love and kindness in their hearts – leave the guy alone and let him create.

In all the history of "modern" music, artists have always pushed the limits. i.e. Sinatra, Elvis, Hendrix, Cher, Boy George, MJ, etc. This is all self expression. I mean it' s his art and music so that's fine but I think he would better serve his fan base by emphasizing the goth. All people can relate to the brooding outsider that is an artistic genius. Less will relate to this. However, the music will sell itself and having bought several American Idol Lambert and other singles, I believe the CD will sell very well.

He is pushing this "gay" thing too much. Reminds me of Boy George – makeup up the wazoo and just looking nasty. Where is Boy George today – picking up trash along the roadside. Just sing Adam – forget trying to push your sexuality and get rid of all the garbage on your face. If you are a good singer, won't matter if you are gay or straight – that issue doesn't need to come into play. Otherwise, pick which road you will be picking up trash on someday.

I think showing your individuality is beautiful. Adam is just trying too hard to be unique when he is just replicating his image from former rock idols. He is a very talented artist (even though he rips off Queen and other greats), on their sound.

    We are in Xanadu

    A million lights are dancing
    And there you are
    A shooting star
    An everlasting world
    And you're here with me
    Eternally

I don't think the makeup is that crazy. A little over done, but that's opinion. The weird thing in the cover is that weird expression hes making, especially the position of his mouth. It looks like a porno mag or something. I'm not saying its offensive, but the vibe hes giving is: I'm nude in the liner notes!( which may excite more fans, so that might have been the aim all along...)

Wow–you people are SO original! "Looks like a girl." Are we in junior high? Get over it. He's a musician, an entertainer. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. But leave the tired, totally homophobic comments at home. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that very few of you who posted such trash were Adam fans to begin with. You wouldn't have gone to his concerts (and you probably wouldn't have gone to Elton's, Madonna's, George's, or any other concert of someone you found pushed your personal boundaries) or bought his music. I was hoping for an edgier album cover, but I'm ultimately after the music–not the cover art. Also, it's not a Kris-Adam war, so get over that. They are good friends, and many people will buy both-just like people buy beer and soda, red and white wine, etc.–they are two different flavors. Last, newsflash for the hating crowd: gay men don't always want a sex change just because they are not afraid of their feminine side (any more than straight men who cross dress or do any number of things they keep secret). If Adam "loses support" for this, then I doubt the people fleeing were really supporters in the first place.

Get over yourselves and grow up. Then again, junior high bullies rarely do. Just know that most people don't find you clever or funny–they recognize you for overgrown children who spew cruelty that is wholly unnecessary.

Once again, people have too much times on their hands. This is America, people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you don't like the music, don't listen to it. If you don't like the images, stop looking at them. We all have the right to make choices here but should not criticize other people's choices. So, Adam is gay! Whoopee! This is 2009! It's not that odd! I believe he is very confident about his sexuality and who he is. He is talented with a great voice and great presence. Compare him to David Bowie, Elton John? Hey, I hope he becomes such a big star! He likes to push people's buttons and push things to the limit? So? Good for him! If you don't like him, his pictures and/or his picture, move on to something else and leave the rest of us alone!

I know its popular to believe that He didn't win because of who he is, but in all reality "hype" doesn't always pan out to be accurate portrayal of talent or popularity. I enjoy American Idol and, yes, I think he is very talented. I also think he was overly prone to theatrics and shrieking rather than singing. In the way I understand American Idol, they are not looking for America's next Broadway star or the perfect replacement for Freddie Mercury. In that regard, I hardly see where Adam didn't get his fair shot. He was the cause of his own undoing. He followed the direction his hype pointed towards rather than focusing on controlled performance.

Before any of you freak out, I don't love or hate Adam. I am Switzerland and couldn't care less either way about this guy. I find it amazing at how defensive some of you are because someone does not like Adam, or maybe they don't like his music, or his hair, or the album cover, etc. I have a gay relative and friends, so I don't dislike anyone because of their sexual preference. Just because someone may not like Adam does not automatically make them a hater. I don't like Bruce Springsteen, but that does not mean I hate straight men. I love Melissa Etheridge, but that does not make me gay either. I know there are haters out there, but having a difference of opinion does mean that the person disagreeing is discrimiating. Maybe he/she just doesn't like him. There are A LOT of straight people that I can't stand! Just saying..................

I'm an Adam fan, and I think he should have saved something like this for his second album and done something a little more toned down for his first. It didn't have to be THIS 'out there'. They could have kept this concept but used a non-Photoshopped photo and dropped the purple starry background in favor of a dramatically lit background, for instance.

For someone who didn't want his homosexuality to be an issue and just wanted people to focus on his music, he sure is making his homosexuality an issue! I mean, that's pretty much all this cover is about. It sure doesn't convey anything about the music; it doesn't even have anything to do with the title.

THis just confirms my suspicion that his solo career is going to be a lot like his Zodiac appearances, and nothing at all like his AI stuff.

The cover confuses me a bit because he hasn't come off this feminine before. Despite the glittery makeup he had a definite masculine vibe that seems to be totally missing here. And it doesn't seem smart from a marketing perspective when it's so hard to sell CDs these days, you would think he would still want to relate to the idol crowd. But I hope his music is great and he does well. I'll definitely be listening.

Adam is Adam and everyone else is just trying to keep up. He was like this way before AI, controversial and pushed boundaries. Cover ruckus is hilarious, his cover gets more attention than most actual album releases. It is bow to past, cover, but it is also- for me- stunningly beautiful- master piece. I love anime and space elements in it. Love it and can't wait to hear his music. If anything, it won't be run on the mill, "safe" music- radio songs nowadays bore me to tears mostly. Bland. Adam sure is not.

Talent. Plain and simple. He's got it in spades and best of luck to him.

Adam is being Adam. He has said all along that he wants to shake things up, get people talking. Guess what? Mission accomplished!

Adam is the real thing. There's so much to love and admire about this guy. If you can't find one thing to like about him, your life is sad. He has touched many people in many different ways. He's exciting. He's fun. He's beautiful. He's sexy. And he CAN sing anything.

Can't wait for November 23, 2009 to get here. The music world will explode and we will never be the same.

Some of the comments here are just so ignorant. Adam wanted this cover to be fun and ridiculous. As he said he was paying homage to glam and honoring some of the music greats. He not only is the sexiest man alive, but the most honest, fiercest man to come on the music scene in a long time. Adam can sing any genre and his extraordinary voice comes along so rarely. Forget AI. The negative comments about masculine/feminine and putting him down without even hearing his album shows how bias and small minded you people are. The guys posting seem to be so insecure with their own identity, they have to attack Adam with such stupid comments. Believe me it makes you less manly. The women posting negative comments deserve the guys posting the ignorant comments. Adam doesn't have to seek the spotlight, the spotlight comes to Adam. He is that good and the media knows it. Too bad your prejudices will keep you from enjoying Adam's music. I do not belong to any fan group, I just get Adam and think he is super talented.

  265. Photo shoot is a sham... unless you believe it.

I think the photo shoot is fine, in and of itself. I suppose many will say it is "art". I think it is, again, in and of itself.

But, I can't get past the fact that the guy is publicly not "hot" for the girl, even though he acts like he is in the photos. He has already publicly declared that he is gay, even if he has not verbalized it, he shows it in video clips and photos. Good for him for being open about his sexuality.

But these photos are misleading. He really isn't all hot all over this girl. Which is the reason why I just don't get the purpose of the photos. I mean, who is he kidding, and more importantly, WHY?!

If you are going to be yourself, then be yourself. This is just false exploitation. They are both beautiful by themselves. Together, they make me uncomfortable... probably as uncomfortable as Adam felt doing this shoot. A commercial sham.

I truly liked and enjoyed the image Adam presented on American Idol, his music, his style, his self-confidence but ever since it's as if he's unleashed restraint and is flaunting his "gayness" to the point of overshadowing the entertainer we enjoyed and admired on Idol. How a person chooses to live off-stage is their business, but it's beginning to look as if any concert Adam would hold would be more like attending an outrageously gay oriented nightclub act and that's not the Adam he presented on Idol. That's not the entertainer we believed in. Adam is talented, genius enough to entertain the masses on multiple levels without resorting to wild and Wicked behavior that overshadows his music. At one time I would have paid any amount of $ to see him in concert but now, his flamboyance is becoming a turn off. I see only his lifestyle, not the art, the music. On Idol, he proved he had mass appeal without sacrificing his identity, his confidence in who he was, in his art and he did it without all this in-your-face flamboyance. I'm really disappointed. He's coming across like a gay slut and I don't think I'd enjoy a concert built around that theme. He should rethink his public and professional image very carefully. If he wants to build a career on lavish, gay celebrity, he may end up losing the mass support of people who loved him for his youth, vitality, his incredible voice, his effortless charm, sensitivity and innate talent.

Adam Lambert really does have a nice voice. I like his performance style (Big fan of his pre-idol work al la the the Zodiac Show).

In the end, for me, that's all that really matters, though, Jenny, I thank you for your concern. Love the picture, campy, glammy, silly and beautifully disconcerting. Thanks again, for bringing it to my attention.

I'm not crazy about this cover, but he is talented to the Nth degree so I'll get the album. I don't think he needs to worry about paying homage to anybody, or being campy or over the top. But obviously this is part of a vision of art to him, so it's his album, not mine. Just think maybe not the best choice for a first album, maybe turning off the casual or radio fan like Bronze.

    Dear America,

2010 is about two months away.

Hurry, we are running late for a new age.

To the Ladies: (attention, jealous Straight Women)

Don't HATE on Adam because he can rock make up better than you, Instead, why not learn how to update your look. No one likes frumpy negative nancies and bitter is tired. The only reason you have time to showcase your ignorance, intolerance and homophobia is because that phone ain't ringing. Fix yourself up, open your mind and good things will follow. Yes, it's true that some of the most amazing, talented and beautiful men (gays) aren't trying to hear you. But, the shoulder you cry on when the closed minded stud muffin you are chasing does not call could very well be attached to Jason or Josh or Adam. At least you can both talk about "men"

    Gentlemen: (attention, Straight "men")

Please get over the delusion that someone who expresses himself and his art is out to "convert" you. Gay / Bi / Sexual Ambiguity is not a religion. Insecurity isn't sexy. If you are secure within yourself you can hang anywhere, meet multifaceted people and live a rich life. The gay community and culture has far more important things to do, like fight for basic human rights and equality. We are NOT wasting our time opening your mind and talking you out of that hideous outfit. Be nice, or we won't introduce you to that beautiful, amazing, open minded woman hanging on our arm at parties. Remember her? Yes, she is secure within herself enough not to be bitter or threatened by her gay male friends (hey, we dressed her, styled her and amplified her greatness)

The rhetoric is tired. I applaud Adam for doing his thing. Straight america needs to get over itself and stop throwing hate as if poof, all the gays in the world will just disappear. If you truly had that power, your brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents would be gone in an instant and you still wouldn't understand why.

We're here, We're Queer... go mind your own business.

That being said, I too am surprised to see so many 'haters' posting here. I think Adam is exercising his freedom of expression on this album cover....whatever it is he may be trying to say. Who are we to decide? I am not too concerned with the motivations. All I know is that Adam ROCKS!!! His voice is truly amazing and in my humble opinion, I believe he is the most talented and gifted performer to come along in quite some time. He is extremely handsome and obviously drawing a lot of attention in everything he does (whether its warranted or not). Unfortunately, the haters are just gonna have to get over their aversion to Adam. He is very popular here in the US and abroad (this evidenced by his pre-sales on itunes and Amazon). Given that popularity and his talent, I don't see Mr. Lambert being a one hit wonder. Prepare yourselves people; we may be seeing Glambertmania the likes of which we have never seen before. If you buy music because of images not sound then it doesn't matter what you think because you are likely 'ear-less'. Most of us who buy his album want to know what he has come up with musically and don't need his (extremely) pretty picture to entice us. This young man has one of the voices and talents of the century. Who he chooses to love and what he does behind closed doors is his business. The rest of it is marketing and music. Some of us can decipher which is which...but some of you obviously cannot.

*yawn* What the hell is controversial about it? It looks like he ripped off the '80s glam rock styles, Xanadu, and Tokio Hotel (whom I like). People get shocked so easily these days. Or maybe old people just enjoy being shocked over stuff like this, even if most old people these days lived the 70s and 80s and have seen worse and weirder anyway....

Lambert's own insistence that he is this new, edgy phenomenon makes even less sense. But I guess that's how it is with today's movers and fakers. I'm not holding any hope out the music behind the "controversial ooohhh" cover will be anything special.

Once his attention getting behavior stops getting the actual attention, he will be forced to confront his problems. The man obviously suffers from gender and other issues. We've all seen this story before time and time again; George Michael, Elton John, Boy George and many others. Nothing new hear, nothing new at all.

Looking at the images, and trying to be very honest? He looks as if he is more than anything 'admiring' the form of the woman... and not lusting after her. With the one where hes got his mouth on her chest – it almost looks like hes curious... I just do not see the 'smoldering passion' towards the woman.

But the photos where shes full out nude – you have to admit that the light and shadow to make him look like hes admiring her perfect form.

I do not think this 'fits' him very well. The cover yes. To me, well I guess I see him with a set behind him – lights low – dim – and he is the one in focus – and done in b/w. But not the tough ruggid look, but rather the look of a young pup, struggling to not be eaten up by the business but at the same time, his love for music is clear.

I am not a fan, just someone that wanted to comment. As far as his voice? In my opinion he has amazing range, but has not yet found himself. I think if he ever tries to sing that delicate soft long song with some lilts here and there – he will find it suits him. Yes he has a strong voice, but what shows control of a voice better than singing just above a gentle whisper?

Hey kid - I like your moxie, chin up – step forward and never let them get you down. This is from one artist to another. Never lose yourself in who they want you to become.

I don't think any of the recent Idol's have had real good success so far.
The two Davids have had good success but both I think do not have the wide appeal that they really need. Both got a lot of air play out of the gate but since then its waned. I guess to say their songs are forgettable would be something Simon would say. Pop and Rock are hard venues and Kids jump from one artist to another these days. Will Adam have any better chance? It will depend on his songs staying power and if any of them can become iconic.

What's so controversial about it? Is it because he's releasing his album as an openly gay man? It's nice to see someone being himself instead of protraying a fake image for years as a straight man to sell records. Artists like Elton John and George Michael paved the way for Adam to be able to express himself without having to tone down who he is to please the masses.

I hate it when a man looks more feminine and prettier in make up than I do. Sure brings back memories of Boy George and Culture Club.

Who cares if it is over the top? Who cares what he looks like? Who cares how his face looks or what it is an "omage" too.

I seriously believe the reason he did not win American Idol is because of who he is as a person, and to be honest, he is better off for it.

It's him being him. I think he would have made a great Conrad Birdie on Broadway.

I didn't watch American Idol, but Wow, she is pretty. Adam is a strange name for a girl though.

The controversy about this cover is really quite hilarious. I'll wait for the music rather than judge the album by it's cover. Lambert seems poised to give us some great music, I look forward to hearing it.

I don't think he pushes any boundries. He just tries to hard and falls flat. Kinda like his album will.
