First off, please let Megan Fox be in this one too. GIGGITY!!!!!!!!!
Secondly, if you don't like vulgar laguage, skantly clad women, or violence in a movie, got over it or don't watch it. Don't complain about it if you're going to watch it.

Sir, well said. I'm black and I didn't get offended at those two stupid robots. I don't act like that, but unfortunetly there are people out there who do. I found no racism in the movie. I have a life to live, don't have time to call everything racism.

Oh, please, Debi F, cry me a river. You say: "They heard about the language of the 2nd one, and then I saw it and had to agree it was not appropriate." You "had to agree" a PG-13 movie was not "appropriate" for a 4 year old? What was your first clue? Personally, I didn't like all the language in the movie either, but I wasn't going to complain that I couldn't take a pre-schooler to it. From the trailers alone anyone can tell it's not an Elmo movie.

1st off I did not take my Grandson to see either of the movies. He watches the cartoon all the time, and naturally wants to see the movies. His parents chose to let him see the 1st one, when it came to DVD. They heard about the language of the 2nd one, and then I saw it and had to agree it was not appropriate. There were MANY parents with children at the movie, complaining that the movie would have been just as good, if the language had not been there. I was only pointing out that it would have been just as good without all the language. I am sorry if it offended some of you JERKS. You obviously can't live your lives without all the offensive language. I have a life thank you and it does not necessarily have to have that sort of stuff to make it a life.
Thanks Dave for the defense. I can only hope that when #2 comes out there will be a version I can show him, since he was really looking forward to seeing it. And already has all the characters in his toy chest.

    Don
If you don't like the portrayal of Skid and Mudflap and you have a problem with the language throughout the movie why would anyone watch the entire movie? If you don't like it, don't watch it. Every single person already has their mind made up, no matter how stupid or outrageous their point of view may be. What's the point of telling someone they are wrong if you, yourself might be wrong. Telling someone to research something is pointless, you are fighting a battle that you already lost. Do your research and keep it to yourself. No one cares that you looked something up. People just want to voice their opinion.

First off both of the movies were very good. And can't wait for the third. I see a lot of people bashing the movie, whether it be language, editing, graphics, etc. Damn you guys act as if you could make a better movie, when in fact, if you did, the same people on here complaining would bash your version. So let Michael Bay do his thing, if you think the language is too harsh for your kids, DON'T TAKE THEM TO SEE IT!!! Its that simple. If you don't like the graphics, DON'T GO SEE IT!!! I for one will be going to see it eventhough Bay could have started from the beginning, he has done a good job in both films.

Don, that is a very good point. I am sorry that people can get offended by robots' behaviors. Being illiterate is a very serious problem in the U.S. today and the fact that these robots couldn't, well it could be the same problem Bumblebee has with speech. A virus in their programing or defective parts could explain that, but that would be too much of a side track for "comic relief" characters to explain in this action movie.

I, myself, am not black or gangsta (I guess, i'll make the point that I am 1/4 Irish, for those that ethnicity is a concern on this topic) and did not grow up in an area where being goofy and exaggerating stereotypical characteristics that are common traits were a bad thing. Certainly not politically correct or displayed in professional settings, but for silly entertainment I don't see the problem, although it certainly should NOT be honestly meant. It's funny. Taking things too seriously especially in the entertainment industry, which most of the time is not meant to be taken seriously, gives the creators too much credit in our societal conditioning. This movie is about robots where is the seriousness in that?

I haven't seen Transformers 2 yet but I loved the first one and am waiting for the 2nd to come out on DVD. I don't like paying the high price of the movie theater. Just watch shows On Demand instead. Saves money in the long run.

For those who think the language is offensive, why did you take young children to see a movie that was going to have violence in it in the first place? If you're offended by the language, why aren't you offended by all the violence as well? Transformers started out as cartoons aimed towards the tween and above set not younger children. The rating was PG-13 which means " intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material. (also IMax version)". Maybe you shouldn't complain if you just ignored the rating and what it means.

I have to agree with Don on something. Looney Toons were really horrible in some areas. They portrayed all races in stereotypes not just blacks. Sometimes whites were seen as the geeky, stupid redneck type of person.

    Personally

I enjoyed the first Transformers a lot, but the second one was "just ok'. I got tired of the gratuitous sexuality when it came to Megan Fox. OK, we get it, she's hot. Less is more when it comes to things like that, and her scenes were way overdone. I don't expect an Oscar nominating performance from her, but I don't think it's too much to ask to make her character believable, and she's not.

That being said, I'll more than likely see the third installment, because after everything else, it's just pure entertainment. The PG-13 kind, not the PG-4. :P

Jme, I understand all our perceptions are a product of what environment we were raised in. You point out that it could be taken as the “illiterate black gangsta” or the "gangsta persona." Unfortunately, as the audience feedback confirmed, some people, including myself, were insulted by the portrayal. This is something you may consider "silly" but to others it is not a laughing matter. Also, if this is a movie that is simply about robots, lacking human traits and personality, why did Skids and Mudflap not have the ability to read? Who on the committee actually gave the approval to have that specific line survive edits 1, 2, 3, and 10?

I actually just watched the 2nd one last night. thought it was good for what it was – an action movie based on an '80s cartoon. I don't know much about the back story, which I know helps me enjoy it more than others. As for the explosions, bad language, sexual content and violence; don't they all come with the action movie package to keep all different target audience groups interested. Yeah, not as good as the first, but very few sequels meet or beat the expectations of the first, we all know this. So why are so many surprised by this?

And the controversy or dislike of the twins is just silly. Yes, they can be taken as the "illiterate black gangsta" stereotype or you can take it as a poke at the gangsta persona, without color. I've known men and women, black and white, etc. that talk just like that. Why must we put color to everything – they are robots. Come on. Can't there just be the silly kid-like robots that are goofy. (And by the way, these robots reminded me of my little sister and her boyfriend and she accepted that compliment gladly.)

I enjoyed the first 2, bring on the 3rd. I like being able to pay to vicariously live in a fantasy world for 1.5 – 2 hours through the silver screen.

Andrew. I am not here to convince you, but the facts are the facts. Your comments reveal that there is a lot of emotion driving what you are saying. Would me being Hispanic or white lend more credibility to my opinion versus me being black? I challenge you to be honest about the portrayal. I challenge you to do some research online to see if what I am saying is ludicrous. I know that I am using pretty big words here for your mind to grasp. Second, I doubt that you will take the time to do so. You are a person that name-calls rather than attempts to have a exchange of ideas or insights. You, and millions of other people worldwide, are the main reason why trash movies such as Transformers thrive.

First one was great in my opinion, the second movie however was very corny with the two thug robots (Skid and Mudflap). I mean did they really have to give one of them a gold bucktooth? If they would edit out the corny scenes the movie would have been pretty good (even with Shia's wrapped up hand thanks to his DUI wreck). Third one needs more substinance and less slapstick comedy.

Stop ripping on Debi F, she has a point.
Transformers was originally a cartoon for young children. There has been like 6 or more different cartoon series of the show in America, and all of them have been aimed at young children. The idea of cars turning into robots and fighting other cars that turn into robots is a child's fantasy.
The toys from the movies are not aimed at 13 year olds or adults, but aimed at children around ages 6-10. The halloween costumes are for children as young as 2-4 years old.
It's a movie based off a children's cartoon! The audience is going to be young children that like the cartoons, and young adults that grew up with the original series. There is no need to have drugs, sex, and robots with sexual organs. Just because the movie is rated PG13 doesn't mean they aren't targetting kids with the advertisements. Heck, BK had happy meal toys based off the movie.
It would be like making a Strawberry Shortcake movie that follows the sexual escapades of marajuana dealing street walkers. Oh sure, they market it to kids, let kids dress up as them and buy the toys, but give the movie and R rating and fail to understand why kids want to see the movie.
Now the wheels are rolling...how bout an 'adult' movie based on Gem! Or a bloody war movie telling the tragic tail of when the Smurf kingdom waged war against the underwater utopia of the Snorks. Kung Fu fighting movie about the Fraggles?
It's a movie marketed at young children based off a cartoon made for young children and yet you make it so the young children aren't supposed to see it. What sense does that make?

Don, you're a moron. There is no "questionable portrayals" of black people in Looney Tunes cartoons. I'm guessing you're black yourself, because only a black person would say something like that. And there's nothing racist about Transformers. Get a life......

    In response to "Sir:"

First question: Have you seen Transformers 2?

I actually don't jump the gun in saying something is "racist," but it doesn't get more blatant that Skids and Mudflap. From the way they spoke to their concession "they don't read," those robots portrayed the a stereotype of black people. You don't have to take my word for it, but even the two men who provided the voice characterizations of those robots felt terrible for how their portrayals turned out and actually confirmed that Michael Bay wanted it to go as far as it did. Moreover, this is not the first time this has happened in our society. If you have ever watched old Looney Tunes cartoons, you would encounter very questionable portrayals of people of african descent. Was it a coincidence that In the first Transformers movie, the autobot, Jazz, was colored black and break-danced as he transformed?

I hate how they changed the characters: Soundave was a radio and was so cool with his voice. Look what they did to him!!! Bumblebee was a VW Bug and bubbly. All the sudden he's a sleek sports car. Megatron was a gun, and the list goes on.. A whole generation who grew up on the cartoon sees this as pure junk. They just used the name and changed whatever they liked.. Don"t get me wrong. I'm a visual effects artist and appreciate the FX. But they screwed the story big time.

The 1st transformers was ok, but the 2nd one was just awful. Why did they try to put in silly robots like those stupid brother robots (jar jar comes to mind?). And that old robot? The only cool part was the that Pretender girl who used claytronics to bend her shape at will and that flying insect that spied on them. Those concepts are currently being developed and we will probably see them in our lifetime (well, mine anyways). With full scale programmable matter, you don't need the All Spark to create more robots.

Let's be realistic. How many of you were kids when you became fans of Superman, Batman etc.? The majority of the time you become a fan at a young age, right? So when "Debi F" talks about leaving out the profanity I hear what she is saying. These children hear about these movies coming up, they see the advertising for them. They know they are out there. It is disappointing for a parent to say no you can't see it because like every other movie the language is bad.

Is profanity really necessary? Is profanity what makes a movie? If it isn't then why not keep it out and allow the young children be able to see it and enjoy it. The adults really wouldn't miss the foul language anyway.

A new generation is what is growing up with this... let them enjoy and have the memory of going to the movies and allowed to watch it withough having to cover their ears at every bad word. If anything create a dvd movie at least without the bad language.

it is funny that while the movie is rated pg-13, how many toys exist for children under that age. Who are they making all the toys for? They know that children are going to watch the movies and be fascinated and then want transformer toys to play with. I don't have children but I still do not understand why the movies have to be filled with offensive language and sexual innuendo. If they left those 2 aspects out of the movie, is it going to no longer be a great movie and no one will go see it?

Actually, I think we'd all be surprised by who reads this and yes, the language in the second movie was horrible! Unfortunately, I took my children to the theatre to see it because the first, which we waited to view on video so we could screen it, was fine... We did buy the children video games and other merchandise from the first but have chosen not to for the second. I do hope they clean-up the language so my children may see the third–which will be on video, as I will NOT chance taking them to the theatre to see it again. As another before me stated, the audience IS children–not critically thinking adults expecting realism.

I will not ever support Transformers 2 as Skids and Mudflap were a testament to the ongoing racsim that exists in media. Michael Bay's movies have th esame formula no matter the content of the movie. Deafening sounds. Dizzying action sequences. Poor acting. It is quite obvious that in this country, whether you are talking about art, music, or filmmaking, that there is a low value in creativity. The Transformers cartoon was centered on the robots and not human beings caught in the crossfire. Why can't Hollywood just expand upon a good thing rather than manipulate to numb the minds of adults and satisfy 5 year olds. Ridiculous!

But seriously, they really bombed the last one with the ridiculous scene where mom gets high and horny and those 2 'gangsta bots' – really? That said, we own the first one and watch it all the time. To Debi: perhaps your 4 year old grandson shouldn't be watching the Transformers movie to begin with...That's why there's a committee out there to ensure the ratings of movies are assigned accordingly. Debi F., the Transformers Movies were not created as childrens movies and I don't want them to be childrens movies. If you want to shield your children from life then yes, don't let them watch it or movies in general except Disney cartoons, but don't try to push apon all other Americans your overly-protective-Conservitive lifestyle.

Both movies were amazing. My whole family (and there are seven of us) enjoyed them both. We thought the second one actually outdid the first one. And why complain over a long movie? You got your moneys worth didn't you? Looking forward to it coming out on DVD, and the release of the third movie. Thanks for the adventures!

Transformers 2–brain dead movie. action and explosions for the sake of that only. poor story telling. typical michael bay movie! compare it to iron man–iron man was way better–good story telling yet the action and explosions were not at all lacking! tired of brain dead movies!

Debi its funny that you mention the language in the recent movies. I watched the original cartoon movie from the 80s recently, and there are probably just as many harsh words in it.
Of course by the time the movie comes out your grandson will probably be in school and start hearing far worse.
    Good Luck.

PS I'm all for the trilogy.

The first one was awesome....saw it 10 times! It rocked!!
The second one was terrible, bad story line, nauseating effects.....should have taken Gravol.
After that disappointment I would be leery to see a number 3

I loved both of the Transformers movies, though the 2nd one may have been geared toward 13 yr old's and up, my kids LOVED IT. I love the fact how the 2nd one had more robots in it, and they actually had more scenes. I just wish that JAZZ didn't die, and the other autobots had a bigger scene. Lastly, why 2011!!! It seems that we always have to wait for the best movies to come out every 2 years!! GREAT WORK MICHAEL~

Debi F., even if you were to get rid of all the questionable language, Transforners is not a movie that should be watched by a 4 year old. There is a reason that that movie is rated PG13.

Can't comment on Transformers 2 as I have not yet seen it.

Are you kidding me the movie is about giant robots fighting who the heck cares about acting. I took my 6 year old and we had a blast. Critics have no imagination anymore

Bring back the Transformers from my childhood. Michael Bay should not be allowed behind the camera again.

Debi F..."So, please take out the offensive language, as it is not necessary to the overall success of the movie."

Who do you think is actually reading this, the Michael Bay himself? Come on.

Yea I agree the 2nd was not as good as the first but it still had some pretty cool stuff in it. I do not think it was given a chance by critics before they just ripped it to shreds. The action was good the effects were on point. I do not understand why michael bay was given such crap over it people just kept harping on him because of how loud and full of explosions it was. I mean I like watching explosions lol keep it up michael. just get a better story line and leave out the robot heaven!

I loved all of them. But I have 2 boys and we are huge fans of tranformers, so we are excited to see the 3rd movie being made.

I for one, hope that they leave the bad language out of the movie. My 4 year old Grandson loves Transformers, and although the 1st one had some questionalbe language we had to stop him from saying, the 2nd one he will not even be allowed to see because it was so bad.

So, please take out the offensive language, as it is not necessary to the overall success of the movie.

Let's hope Michale Bay decides to turn Megan Fox's character turns out to be a Decepticon operative and ends up being manhandled by Skids and Muddflap.

The first movie was great, bu the second was really annoying and poorly edited. I hope the directors and writters don't send another stinker version to the theaters. It would be a shame to ruin such an easy to present story. I am waiting for reviews next time before I head to the theater.

The first transformer movie was better than the second one. I hope the 3rd one is good and not too long. I don't mind watching Shia on the big screen!
