An open letter to Lindsay Lohan

Dear Lindsay,

We need to talk; I’m worried about you. I feel like we grew up together; except you got to do all of the cool things that every kid wishes they could do- like star in movies, make hit records and date movie stars.

Your remake of the Parent Trap was a classic. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine to this day; if I am flipping through the channels and it is on I have to watch. Saturday Night Live was great- that Disney Debbie Downer sketch? Classic. Mean Girls? Loved it. So I don’t get it-what happened? Where did it go wrong?

Everyone has growing pains, but Lindsay, you weren’t having growing pains, you were having downward spirals. DUI’s are not ok. I live in LA Lindsay, and when you go out and party with all of your celebrity pals and then get behind the wheel of a car you are putting MY life in danger, not just your own.

But Lindsay, you were turning it all around and doing so well. I was so happy for you. You weren’t so scary skinny anymore. You went to rehab and got some help. You got out of what looked to be some very destructive and very public relationships. You seemed to be staying out of the public eye a bit. But then I see a topless photo of you that you sent out over Twitter because you say you were “bored”? Really?

Lindsay, do the names Carrie Prejean and Vanessa Hudgens mean anything to you? They both recently dealt with nude photo scandals and it wasn’t easy for them- most people would want to avoid that. You are sending your own topless pictures out over Twitter!

Lindsay, it is time to stop the celebrity train. Pull it over to the side of the road and get off. It's summer, take a break and go on vacation- somewhere where the paparazzi can’t find you. Leave your blackberry at home so you can’t email or call anyone and most importantly so you can’t Twitter. Take that time off and reevaluate if this is the life you really want. It’s ok if you don’t, no one will fault you. You have spent over half of your life doing this but maybe it isn’t what is best for you anymore. Just think about it.

And leave the camera at home.

Didn't Lindsey post a twitter ALSO saying that her sister was the one who posted the topless pic as a joke? Besides, it's "topless" yes, but you can't even see anything, it would be just the same if she were wearing a bikini top. Get over it, people.

Gah. Is it necessary to repeat "Lindsay" in every. single. paragraph? If you are using it for emphasis, it has totally lost its effect.

Lindsey's snap-shot causes stir, for gods sake, since when we should feel ashemed about human anatomy?

I do not blame her, I blame the Liberal left Democrats, media, holywood, etc. They have waged war on G-d, no G-d in pledge of allegiance, no 10 Commandments in court house, redefine marriage and abortion is the anwer for pre marriage sex. When the family structure breaks down, this is the end of this great country. This was said by a politician over 100 hundred years ago. Obama just gave gays and lesbians some Federal benefits and its not far enough to the left. Look at Peta, Obama swatted a fly on TV and they are up in arms. PETA through a pie in Moore's face, because he is not a vegetarian. When is enough, enough?

Wow. The "crawl in a hole and die" sentiment perfectly encapsulates the "hooray for me to hell with you" society that we have become. What a relief, vigo the butch, that you appear to be so issue-free. Then you won't find yourself subjected to the cruelty of morons who have absolutley no ability to sympathize or empathize with the hell that some people find themselves walking through. Aren't you lucky!

This is a young woman who is screaming for help. She wasn't just merely neglected by her parents. She was flat out abandonded as their offspring. What did she get instead? Total betrayal. They saw a good thing, a money maker, and decided they were going to ride the Lindsay train. Where was the protection she needed from these people? Absolutely nowhere. And she certainly is not the first child actress to be exploited by her own flesh and blood as a meal ticket, a means to an end.

She wanted the same thing that any other child wants and is entitled to by virtue of birth - unconditional love. Instead, she found herself victimized by user-friendly parents. And evidently a percentage of the public that apparently doesn't give a damn whether she lives or dies. But we sure do love TMZ for having all those pictures chronicling her demise. She's trying to numb a lot of pain. You don't overcome betrayal by the two people in the world who were supposed to be your first and best protectors overnight or without a monumental amount of help and counseling. The rehab stint/s? They haven't even chipped the tip of the iceberg yet.

Some of us are wired to handle a lot. Some of us aren't. And last time I checked, that wasn't a crime that demanded the death sentence. I hope someone can get her in hand and make her understand over time that just because she didn't get what she needed as a child that never meant that she was undeserving of having those things. She doesn't think much of herself. That's how she was trained. And guess what, vigo? When you have bad information about yourself, you are much more likely to make some bad decisions.

But as I say, you appear to be perfection itself. As long as everything is going ok in your world, who gives a damn what happens to some damaged girl?

    Whatever.

Unfortunately, the only way over-exposed, spoilt celebrities like Lohan could be cured, is to be totally removed from their fame/celebrity lifestyle. As other posters have said, this is impossible! So we and the rest of the world will have to witness more of Ms.Lohan's spiral downward until she hits rock bottom. Unfortunately! Same for Britney Spears. We are the unfortunate audience to their downfall. As a young female myself, I feel for these women who obviously surround themselves with the wrong people who give them wrong advice. I wish them the best but as the old saying goes, 'You reap what you sow'.

Cool letter, but unfortunately, your last bit about leaving it all behind is nearly impossible. She could go completely straight/clean, and never do another movie, and the paparazzi would still stalk her.....for years and years to come. Just ask stars from t.v. and movies from the 80's.

Dear Lindsay, You are a very talented person, I want to share with you, that I hope you listen to the wisdom of your elders. The first thing that some people try to do to others, when they want them to take drugs is , attempt to separate them from the wisdom of their parents. I hope you continue to make the good choice for healthy living. Substance abuse is incompatible with the Human Bio-mechanism. None of it works for us, If we put the wrong things in our bodies. Drugs affect how we think , feel and behave. Don't let anyone or anything stand between you and your relationships with the people that care about you. If someone offers you drugs, or wants you to take them, that person doesn't really have knowledge about how to care. Surround yourself with the people that care.

So she sent out topless pics. So what. If she got paid to be topless in a movie (which WAY more people would see) then it's ok. What about the tons of unknown teens sending ot nude pics of themselves? Many of them are under 18. Lindsay is just having the delayed childhood that comes with early celebrity. Drew Barrymore (no camera phones in her wild child days), Robert Downey Jr (he was old enough to know better), Winona Ryder, Christian Slater, oh and MICHAEL JACKSON!!!

While Lindsays behaviour is sad but not surprising for the fact that we live in a country where people alternately idoize and bash the very stars they have created, the remarks here by other people here is horrid.

'crawl in a hole and die' is this a comment from an actual living breathing person? if you think Lindsay has issues I think you need to reexamine yourself.

this my friends is what is wrong wiith much of society ....

    sad but true.....

    Lindsay,

You have a talent not many possess...... I pray you get your life straightened out and find peace........... don't be another statistic.....

Come on you guys...this is a beautiful young girl who is in a very bad place in her life and is not making wise choices. Mean spirited comments are judgmental and hurtful and I'm most certain Ms. Lohan can read.
As a matter of fact, she is a very gifted actress, a gift given to her by God. Let's pray that one day she will realize just how fortunate she is to have that gift ,and that she will use it for purposes of good.

She won't be embarrassed by her behavior now when she's 60. She's of the generation that believes it's ok to do these things. It's her right. She's not going to grow up, look at her parents. They didn't, and we expect her to? NOT going to happen. Sad that she reached her peak, blew out her chances of a great adult career, but that's what happened. Lohan is trouble for anyone looking to complete a project right now. I believe in her mind she's still that very popular, loved teen girl. She can't see the real world for the fantasy weaved around her. She needs more than a vacation at this point. She needs to face facts. Problem is, how do you get through to a spoiled, pampered, over zealous diva? Her parents didn't just fall down on the job, they left the job to other less qualified folks.

Here we go again with another child star who grows up in Hollywood making money that the rest of America and the world can only dream about making. So what do they do with it? They either snort it, drink it, pop it, screw it or the final worst yet dont live to enjoy it. Lindsay come on...i know your a good girl and have a good heart. Start using your goodness for something good. Follow in Madonna's & Oprah's footsteps and do some good in this world with your money!

Amen. She's going to be so embarrassed in a few years when she looks back at the way she's behaving now. It's beyond immature. It's really really sad and desperate. So much begging for attention. She's not going to fill the hole inside herself with paparrazi and alcohol, but she sure may die trying.
