Chris Brown breaks silence!

“I ain’t a monster.”

That’s Chris Brown’s message to his fans as he speaks out for the first time on camera since his February arrest after allegedly beating Rihanna. In a homemade video shot by Brown and his friend Bow Wow the singer talks directly to the camera.

“Everybody that’s haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love you all, I ain’t a monster.”

Brown allegedly attacked Rihanna the night before the Grammy Awards after leaving Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy Party together.  Pictures later surfaced of a badly beaten Rihanna and both parties have kept relatively mum until now.  The next court hearing in the case is tomorrow.

When Showbiz Tonight contacted Chris Brown’s representative for a statement we received “no comment."

What do you think? Should he have spoken out now or waited until his court case was settled?

For more of Chris Brown’s video- and if he might be planning a comeback- tune in to Showbiz Tonight at 11pm Eastern and Pacific on HLN.  Don’t miss it!

If it was 50 cent or Marshall Mathers that had beaten their girl up would all of you people have the same reaction or is it because this chris brown guy is really a mommas boy , He is as soft as candy floss and he sings sissy pop records..

Eminem has recorded numerous violent recordings about harming some of the women in his life Yet i bet most if not all of you purchased that garbage probably rate him as the so called best and have allowed him to still have a career.

the sad truth is that domestic violence occurs in a very large amount of relationships world wide and both men and women can be the aggressor. Some women do not know how to react to or treat a gentleman when one does come around these days because they actually like guys who can physically dominate them or keep them in "check".

    Chris,

You are a coward! You disrespected and abused Rihanna. Your money and fame do not give you the power or privilege to break any laws!! True fans with values will not follow you because you are no longer respected! I am no longer your fan, there is so much talent in the entertainment field that are not violent and bad influence, you blew it! Shame on you! You deserve to be ignored, this is the 21st Century and woman are less likely to tolerate abuse. Rihanna should follow Tina Turner, she left Ike Turner and still succeeded! Show repentance and humility and maybe you can recover your career.

At the very least he should TRY to act like a man and admit what he did is wrong and that he is remoseful and is getting the help he needs. Instead he whines about haters being haters. That doesn't even make any sense! I can't think of a dumber way to break your silence. Chump!

to "Go Waste your time some where else" A real man and a big person would have walked away. He would have had the power to call the police and shine the light on her actions. He chose to behave like and animal and it backfired. These are the consequences you suffer for being stupid. Lock his ass up. To hell with a second chance. Sometimes you only get 1. If this was my daughter, he would have been handled. His mother should have raised him but since he's feeding his whole family they have to back the b.s.! Violence is never a solution. Own up to what you did and take responsibility. You can teach yourself how to be a man since you never had one to teach you.

In no way shape or form do I condone the allegations against Chris Brown. However, we as a public really need to stop being so judgemental. This is not the first or last domestic violence case. Unfortunately, there are many cases everyday of men (yes, I said it!)and women being abused by their partner either verbally or physically. The reality is that most people know or have known someone that has been through this traumatic experience, if they themselves have not. The Chris and Rihanna incident only brought this issue into the spotlight again and allowed many celebrity and non-celebrity woment to come forward about their abusive past or present relationships. I agree that we should allow him a chance to receive counseling to help him better himself and become a man that is respectful of women and would not raise his hand to make a point. Rehabilitation is not far fetched and should not be ruled out. Rihanna also needs to receive counseling so that she won't end up in another situation resembling this again. I am far more concerned with the punishment of people like Drew Peterson who have hidden in the shadows and murdered their supposed "loved" ones, yet seem to be getting away with it. This is more of a news topic that deserves much outrage and judgement from the public that Chris and Rihanna. In the end if she goes back to him after they have both received help resolving their issues, we should respect that and let it go.

NOW A DAYS YOU SEE WOMAN GET BRAVE AND WANT TO GET IN MENS FACES AND THE UNFORTUNANTE HAPPENS. MAYBE THESE TYPE OF WOMAN SHOULD REALLY THINK ABOUT WHAT THEY DO AND CHANGE THERE BAD ADDITUDES.

I am not defending Chris Brown in any way. He obviously has some very serious issues. It is absolutely cowardly and unacceptable that he physically battered his girlfriend. And to try and minimize it with that moronic excuse "I'm not a monster" is completely asinine. However, his ebonics is part of the "artistic and entertainment" style of the video he put out. The reporter quoted it out of the context of the video piece. The real atrocity if that he put out an "entertainment" video to defend himself instead of a sincere honest apology. He is a young man, let's hope he gets some serious life changing help and he grows the hell up.

Here are my thoughts about some of the comments posted.
    1) "Chris's mom didn't do a good job." What about Rihanna's parents? I guess they raised her to beat up fellow human beings and sleep around with men. Did anyone see the naked Rihanna pics on the net this week? Yeah, her parents did a great job raising her.
    2) And how can someone comment that he has never heard a Chris Brown song and in the same sentence, comment that he is talentless?
3)There are alot of you who are calling him uneducated, yet, alot of you have comments with misspelled words, incorrect punctuation and grammar. I know my English isn't perfect. Is yours?
    4) If you don't like Chris Brown's music, then you just don't. Do we really care?
    5) Contrary to what someone wrote, Chris has cross over appeal. Believe me, he didn't sell more records than Rihanna without crossing over.
    6) I really believe that since O.J. was found innocent oh so many years ago, every black male who is suspected of doing something wrong will be crucified by society as payback.
    7) Chris was wrong for hitting Rihanna back. He should have walked away. But if they were in a car, how would he have been able to walk away?
    8) If he is guilty, then let him pay for his crime. I bet you one thing. Rihanna will think twice about putting her hands on anyone else again. Unless, she too has an anger problem.
    9) They WERE and STILL are immature, young adults trying to act grown up.
    10) I just pray for the truth to come out.

Ike and Tina Turner. The difference between Rhianna and Tina is that Rhianna didn't remain in the relationship as long as Tina did.

Ike's career wasn't the same after Tina left him and I believe the same is going to happen or has already happened to Chris Brown.

You can never give a good enough excuse for abusing a woman.

I believe you should be trying to apologize and come up with a foundation for battered women to help them get out of the situation that you put Rhianna through.

Ain't is not in the vocabulary. If you did as good in school as you say you did, then there is no need for the word ain't when your trying to address the American public. Please, in the future use proper grammar.

Rihanna, the new Whitney Houston? Not even, Houston at least used to have a real, trend-setting voice when she was Rihanna´s age, not only looks. This man-boy is not a monster, he is a plain idiot, victim of his own crap, how can you throw punches at someone´s face, let alone a woman, your girlfriend, and hide your hands and pretend you didn´t do it? How can you achieve certain level of fame, be aware that you do have fans, as deranged and ignorant as chauncey here, who will look up to you in whatever way, even if good ole chauncey here and some others actually defending this idiot just do it because he makes them horny or whatever? How can this manicured, made-up, shaven-forehead, eyebrow plucker piece of imbecil call anyone a hater when he has done such hateful things as to beat up his own girlfriend? l hope he gets fined big time and spends enough time in jail to be treated just the way he treated his lady. People will judge you based upon your behavior. After all, it is what you show to the world that speaks to your character. The way in which Chris Brown beat Rihanna and his seemingly lack of remorse is what I believe most people are reacting to. It is as though he dosen't get what people are concerned about. People who are abusers, don't cure themselves and he needs help. So for those of you who say people shouldn't judge him, then you are being naive.

And as for the "skeltons in one's closet" which one writer spoke to, if they are in the closet, then that is where they should stay, it when you bring them out, that the problems start. Then you begin to show people who you really are. And that is unfortunately what Chris Brown did. Fame and celebrity carry with it the scrutiny of people into all areas of your life. I hope he does get help and his career can get back on track.

In response to Good Sense, who I just caught out of the corner of my eye, I agree with you; whether its a man or a woman doing the abusing its wrong. There's no debate about that; if she did whatever she did with the text message or whatnot, however, it still doesn't deserve the beating she got. Nothing justifies physical violence, except self-defense.

Chris Brown is wrong, however, I must say this. Many of you who have taken the time to write your comments on Chris Brown should take a hard look at the person in the mirror. Many of you typed worse comments than he said. I have also been in this type of situation as a young male. However I was the abused.

Our society is so quick to judge, I won't go so far as to say that she got what she deserved but in every confrontation something had to provoke it. I believe Rihanna did more than just get mad over a text message. Most women believe soley because they are women that it is exceptable for them to hit their significant other. Both of them need counseling on handling sensitive situations, and controlling their emotions.

Allow me to reinterate Chris Brown is wrong...However Rihanna is equally as wrong if she put her hands on him. Or thought just because they were dating she was intitled to go through his personal property. If at any time you feel that you are losing your cool it is on you to remove yourself from that situation.

For clarification, the only blame I feel Rihanna holds is her actions afterwards to young girls everywhere. I so wish she'd come out and really put a face to domestic violence. It is so much more prevelant in young girls nowadays. What a shame.

Holy Smokes! Go back to school, dude!

I agree with many of the posts. He can sing and so someone snatched him up and promised stardom. Where are the folks in his life that are suppose to remind him of education, values? I'm sure the stardom was inticing to his caregiver/s as well but there are others that influence a child. Neighbors, Teachers, Grandparents, Church Members. Where were they?

And don't even get me started on the example Rihanna his setting. Hopefully she'll emerge wiser but only time will tell.

  59. Huh?

For all of you who are placing some blame on Rhianna, maybe you are correct. For you who are saying "hey, he made a mistake"...look at the pictures. He didnt just punch her once and then realized what he was doing and stop. He beat the hell out of her over an extended period of time. He repeatedly punched her and then choked her to where she was almost unrecognizable. This was not an "oh my gosh i hit you and I am so sorry" situation. If you read the police report he pretty much wanted to kill her. Anyone with that much rage needs help and a prison sentence.

And Chris, LEARN TO TALK! The ebonics is sooo annoying.

"When an adult strikes another adult, he or she has to be prepared to accept the consequences, regardless of sex. For instance, if a small man struck a large man, I doubt many would sympathize with the small man the way many have with Rihanna in this case."

Actually, they would. There is a huge from between bruises on your girlfriends wrists because you restrained her from attacking you. There is a huge difference from slapping another adult back when they slap you.

There is NEVER an excuse to beat the living crap out of someone like we saw in those pictures. Putting someone in a headlock and beating them until he OR she is unrecognizable is not acceptable behavior in any circumstances.

In other words, if it was a fair fight, I'd like to see the pictures of his injuries.

This is just another unfortunate example of some young idiot who can sing and is thrust into fame regardless of the fact that they are a moron. Then when their true colors come out they want to hide behind their fame and fortune and sadly it works quite often. Its just another example of how in todays society if you have the cash you can buy your way out of anything. Plus you still have this stereotype in urban music that its the guy who is doing drugs and selling guns or prostetuting women that is the "real man". Is it any wonder that he did what he did?

All of you who left the statements about the way he talks...how could you? You all have no right to bash him, the way he speaks or anything else. The way you all are talking about him you are no better than him. I do not condone domestic abuse but I do trust that everyone makes mistakes and deserves at least a second chance. Rih Rih has moved on and you see her on every internet blog site magazine and Chris has been sitting back trying to stay out of the eyes of people like you. I dare all of you to cast judgement on anyone. You have no right at all no matter how you feel to judge that is not in your power. I for one will still buy his music and go to his shows. Think about it why should he apologize if he really feels he did nothing wrong. Where any of you in the car that night? All of you are thinking one sided like well I think the picture I saw was real and I think they said he has done it in the past....DUH even Rih Rih has not come out to say it was true. Please get over this and focus on the positive instead of negative. Give him a break let the judge; judge him that is what he gets paid to do. Didn't someone give you a break before?

As a witness to domestic violence growing up, the only thing I can say is "yes" i HATE the abuser and have some resentment for the abused. To be abused and to take back the abuser over and over is crazy and doesnt set a good example to ANYONE. Both of the young adults have people looking up to them. Yes Chris, I am a hater. I hate abuser. And as for Rhianna, I feel pity for you. There is no way that this is the first beating. It usually just starts with a punch or a slap and escalates from that. It doesnt just begin with a ultimate fight experience. Therefore, who knows how many times he has actually "hit you" and you just keep going back. This should be considedered a lesson learned. Get rid of him, get some therapy and get back to your music making. Set an example for people, women who have been abused by the ones who "love" them. Even though I was raised in a house full of domestic violence, I know that love doesnt cause bruises and black eyes.

Be it male or female. I am disappointed in the fact that he comes off sounding so "hood" like that's what's hot in the streets right now. He should be more focused on saving his "career" as opposed to making "Free Chris Brown" tapes. The saddest part of this whole ordeal is that my son (8) looked up to him so much. He wanted to dance and sing just like him and now he can't stand to look at him because of what he did. How freakin' sad...I think fans would respect him more if he came out like the "man" he is and took responsibility for his actions. But let me guess admitting fault isn't gangsta right...

If he did it, he should receive his punishment. You are not judge nor jury. I imagine many of you would be throwing stones if you could. Examine yourself then speak. There are things we have all done that are wrong. You all being hypocrites is worse because you are lying to yourself. We all know what he did. Air some of your skeletons in your local paper then see how your friends and the general public react. A lot of this "love a person when they are up, hate them when they are down attitude is pervasive in society.

To Adam, Michelle and all the other Chris Brown apologists out there, if I understand you correctly (1) Rihanna brought it upon herself because she was jealous/threw the first punch/did *something to set him off; and/or (2) he should be left alone because he's just a kid who made a mistake. I gather you also approve of the Taliban stoning girls who are raped because "they brought it unto themselves by wearing western clothes/smiling at unknown men/walking unchaperoned/etc." Go ahead. Blame the victim. I wonder how you'd feel if it were you or a loved one.

As to his being young and foolish (or immature and ignorant), hitting a weaker person (male or female) until their face is bloodied and swollen is not a "mistake" – it's a crime. And he should own up to it and get help. Too many women and children have been killed by their abusers. How many more must die before ALL of us realize it is NOT okay to abuse the weak or different?

Adam, it is illegal for someone to use violence against someone else, as Chris Brown did. It sounds like you're trying to take the point of attention off of the fact that Chris Brown has no respect for women. Clearly by his grammar you can tell that he knows the only chance he has is to appeal to basically anybody that likes his music. You should have continued maintaining a low profile. I can’t believe your response, as far as your concern your atrocious actions towards Rhianna was justified. I can’t believe having witnessed domestic violence growing up that you would turn around and inflict the same, if not worse, abuse on someone’s daughter. I must strongly disagree with you, only a monster is capable of conducting his/herself in this manner. I wasn’t there in the car with you or Rhianna (don’t know the full story), but I don’t need to know the step by step of what transpired in the car to tell you this type of abuse is not condoned. God forbid you should find yourself in a situation that has the potential of escalating to the next level, you WALK AWAY!

His actions can't be justified. What he did was wrong. Until I see a picture of HIS face bruised and beaten, I won't believe justice has been served. My cousin was 5 mon. pregnant and was beaten up. She looked just as bad if not worse than that picture of Rhianna AND she was pregnant. She had stitches, staples, bruises, and cuts. The abuser plea bargained. He got 2 days for beating her and 5 days for breaking the no-contact order. Also had to take a Batterer's Education Program. Justice wasn't served in that case either. Someday Chris and my cousin's abuser will get what's coming to them. Have fun meeting your maker boys. (My grammar isn't perfect, but geesh, come on Chris!)

See what the Media does? This young man, very young man, made a horrible mistake and now he is paying dearly for it. As I read everyone's comments I am sadden that half of you are ready to string him up and hang him, or stone him, or how about behead him!! I am not condoning his behavior, however, this young man is just that, a young man. People are so quick to judge. There are three sides to every story; his, hers, and the TRUTH! Is he supposed to forever have this over his head, for the rest of his life. Come on you all. I'm sure he is paying dearly right now. Oh, and btw, he is not the only so-called role model that young folks listen too. There are so many others out there. He didn't invent "women beater". Pray for this young man that he receives the help that is needed. Pray for Rihanna too that she also gets help. Her self esteem must be mighty low right now. We need to show a little compassion for both these two young people and pray that Chris has learn a costly, valuable, lesson in all of this.

What a sad statement indeed. If this is the best that Chris can muster then he is going to sink himself in court. Then again he will probably get off like OJ and Robert Blake, but eventually he will do this or something else and will wind up where he belongs which is PRISON.
Maybe then he will see how bad he is . I personally will not allow my daughters to play any of his music in my house, or purchase any of his crap. I hope he winds up broke and on the streets. With his great command of Ebonics he could be a great car wash attendant.

I feel sorry for this kid; he's obviously been raised in a home without adequate love and supervision. Nevertheless, he's an adult and needs to be taught a lesson that his mother/father/grandparents/teachers should have taught him as a child: walk away from a physical confrontation.

p.s. to all of you who are going to respond to my post by saying that this is not his parents fault, I say, baloney! I am a young mother and know that loving a child involves more than just saying "I love you" and giving your kid the video game he/she wants. It involves setting limits and teaching children how to deal with challenges through your own example.

I think Chris is a very young gifted performer but that could never excuse abusing a woman. The fact that he doesn't realize what he's done wrong and seems to be unapologetic about it makes him a very dangerous risk to anyone who dates him or makes him angry. He's not going to get help if he doesn't realize that he has a problem. It's a shame because he was in the middle of a brilliant career. I hope someday he'll figure all this out and get the help he obviously needs.

There are many good reasons to hurl abuse at Chris Brown. The heinous nature of the attack that caused charges to be leveled against him are widely publicized. Furthermore, his new internet video demonstrates neither recognition nor remorse throughout its generally blase presentation.
I haven't scratched the surface of my contempt for men who abuse women, but let me cut to the chase: why on earth are people criticizing his grammar and syntax?

I've instructed in English departments at university level; in my private life, however, I still make frequent use of phrases such as 'y'all' or 'ain't'. The practice can be labeled cultural patois, regional vernacular, or simply slang. It does not constitute a reason to condemn someone.

Especially when more valid reasons abound. An attack on his style of speech seems as relevant as criticism of his choice of footwear. In the case of the video statement the problem is what he says and fails to say, not in how he says it. To become embroiled in petty attacks on how he expresses himself threatens to diminish the real issue here: the horror of domestic abuse.

I guess I am among the ranks of people who found that they are "haters." I am a mother, a sister, a friend, and an aunt who has seen far too many women abused by men who come up with any amount of excuses for what they do.

I am teaching my daughters that if a man EVER lifts a hand to hit them for any reason they are not to walk but run as far away as possible from them. There is no excuse, no reason that can be given for beating a woman.

Chris Brown your music is banned in my home, on tv, or on the radio. We threw out the CD's that we had with your music on them. I have explained to my ten year old son why what you did is wrong and I will not glamourous you or your music or whatever message you think you have to be voice anywhere in my home. All it took was one photo of Rhianna's bruised and battered face for my son to understand.

Adam, you have the same "logic" as abusers. Saying "she must have made him mad". That is scary.

Rihanna is NOT with him anymore. And hasn't been since he beat her. She has the support of her family, and people shouldn't be calling her names like idiot, and stupid. You have no clue whether she has had her life threatened or what.
Chris Brown is a narcissistic, immature, piece of trash. I'm glad others have the same sentiments. He needs to go to jail for this, beating a woman is unacceptable. Just because he's a celebrity, doesn't mean he can be violent and break the law.

I took a sociology class in university on domestic violence. We learned of some pretty shocking cases. One where the husband would tie his wife up during the day while at work and take the phone with him. He threatened to kill her if she ever tried to escape or contact anyone. Domestic violence is serious business folks, and can be complicated. it's not always easy for victims to just walk away.

Mr. Brown has claimed in the past that he witnessed his mother being abused. If his mother was indeed a victim of domestic violence he was predisposed to becoming an abuser; HOWEVER, this does not excuse his acts on the young lady in question. This foul creature masquerading as a human should be treated like any other person who abuses another. He should be charged to the fullest for his alleged crimes. As a society, our first step should be taking the word "domestic" out of domestic violence. Violence is violence, no matter your relation to the other person. All abusers should be treated equally and as what they are...Criminals!

He is a little child that knows a man would stomp him into the ground, so he beats women instead. I would bet my life that Rihanna isn't the first woman to get hit by Chris Brown, and will not be the last. I've never purchased a Chris Brown CD, mostly because I am a fan of real music, and couldn't sit through an entire song of his, let alone an entire album. I really feel what people are saying about him beating up on that girl, but like someone wrote earlier, what everyone is going on is what they heard and I personnly read that she was the one who got all upset about his text. Who's to say she didn't hit that man and didn;t think he was going to defend himself, thinkin she might put her nails in his eyes or something, she obviously needs some kind of anger mngt or theropy for wantin to read that man's text's anyway and them to go off on him like that.

True she looked real bad and he maybe didn't have to go off like that, but what would you do if someone hit you b/c of something they didn't like, you would defend yourself.
She might have had all this set up, b/c she isn;t pressing charges or anything like that and if I was threatened by having my life taken then I would do everything possible to keep that person away from me, even if I did love him and meant jail time. Not lets just get this over with.

There's two sides of every story, and he had a right to hit that girl if he was being hit himself.
she needs to learn who to put her hands on.

They got what they wanted: everyone is talking about Chris Brown, and opining and arguing over Rhianna's involvement and how much she should be blamed for. Bottom line is noone ever deserves that kind of treatment, to be beaten and humiliated–but the blogs, emails, news stories, etc. that have followed a less than articulate comment, have basically enlivened and emphasized his name and status because he is once again on the lips of fans, both past and present. I personally hope they can both heal, learn from the experience (including legal ramifications), and then able to move on with their lives.

And, really, to other commenters...let's blame the victim some more, shall we? Since that makes it okay to beat someone to a bloody pulp. She must have 'deserved' it. :/ Sad.

This is to Disgusted, Michele, and Adam – Why must it always be that when a woman (in the "spotlight" or not) is used as a punching bag it somehow comes back to being her fault for saying the wrong thing or looking the wrong way or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time? but ultimately the public says somehow it is her fault??? Try being on the other end of that fist or that choke hold or that slap. Then tell me that it was YOUR fault.

This is to Marc – To a point i see your point. She supposedly ripped the cell phone out of his hand after receiving a sexually explicit text message from another woman and threw the cell out of the car window. So yes your point is taken that she is not totally innocent...BUT that deserves to be slapped and punched in the face repeatedly till you need medical care??? I do not think so...but then again I guess I will be considered one of the "haters".

I find a lot of the "celebrity" BS that is going on a little pathetic myself. We dont see everyday people being swooned over for beating their loved ones, or for making their dogs fight to the death (ie Michael Vick, DMX) or for every little indiscretion that is commited. But let it be a person in the spotlight and all the cockroaches come from every little crack in the wall to say "poor Chris Brown...he aint a monster"... well to be honest with what society accepts now...he probably isnt.

Let's quit focusing on his career and focus on getting out young people an education (ie “Everybody that’s haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love you all, I ain’t a monster.”) and focus on getting the anger management that he so well needs and deserves. Will this change him??? It's doubtful...once they feel the power of hitting and hurting...they WILL do it again. Proven Fact.

His comments are reflective of 2 things. First , there is the lack of education that stems from seeking fame and fortune above the ability to speak proper english (I ain't a monster). Secondly, the "haters" he is referring to are people who won't tolerate the degradation and abuse of women, a theme that is prominent in the rap culture today. Lastly, any "fans" he has left are waiting to be the cell mate of a woman-beating "celebrity"

I think the media are the biggest hater's in the world. They don't know what happen so they are making assumption and upset, because he refuses to speak to them. You guys don’t know what happen, but are quick to judge. Yes he beat her, but what provoked it? A lot of you have been in the same situation, but it never gets reported. I never beat up a women before, but I also never been in a situation like Chris, a moving car, while my girlfriend is beating on me because of a text message. Yes Rhianna has a history of violence she said it herself. I like both artists they are great performers, I feel this is an issue they must workout amongst themselves. She went back to him right?

You can love some of his music but hate that he lost his temper. Separate the 2. Enjoy his talents. Listen to "Tell Me" and revel in rich harmonies that only black people can seem to master. Yeah the lyrics are simplistic and thugish but oh that music is masterfully put together. When the refrain slides in its like cool water on a parched throat in the middle of a desert. Why can't white people create stuff like this? Where would we be without black influence in popular music? We would be very poor musically, that's what. Thank God for talent like this.

Everybody makes mistakes. One of America's greatest strenghths is its ability to forgive. Let it happen. Life goes on.

And don't for a minute think that women are never partly responsible for violence. Yes its wrong and the instigator is mostly responsible. But not 100% responsible. Almost always the woman is nagging and like a thorn in your side. Its never 100% one side's fault. That is rarely discussed. But why don't women EVER seem to admit this? It NEVER happens. They NEVER take any responsiblity. Its time the world wakes up to reality from both sides. 10% responsiblity is very different from zero.

Chris – just focus on what you do so well and things will iron themselves out. We'll support you 100% when you return. Couldn't be soon enough.

Actually, Chris Brown does not owe the public (that's all of us) an apology for his behavior. His apology should go to Rihanna...and Rihanna alone. There are always two sides to every story. Even though this is a matter between Chris and Rihanna (and the justice system), it will be interesting to see what the "other side" of the story is when the media entices both parties to speak publicly.

A classic sign of an abuser is not taking responsibility for your actions – "she made me do it". If Rihanna hadn't attacked Chris Brown, I would consider him to be despicable. However, Rihanna seems to have attacked him first, after she was angered by a text in his phone from another woman; because of this he hit back. If this is true, then I think that everyone should set aside this manifestation of our society's double standards. When an adult strikes another adult, he or she has to be prepared to accept the consequences, regardless of sex. For instance, if a small man struck a large man, I doubt many would sympathize with the small man the way many have with Rihanna in this case. Yet, because she is a woman, she's gained sympathy. No one can have it both ways: either all have fairness and equality under the law or the law becomes arbitrary.

Read Chris Brown's story. Try to understand the abusive situation he grew up in. Try to understand the abusive person it made him become. Try to have compassion for both sides. My words to you is not to allow fame destroy your integrity as a human being, and man. It is not cool to beat woman, for no reason. She is just as bad after finding out her background, two people with violent backgrounds should not be together spreading the cycle. I am not judging you, Chris, hoping you have learned a valuable lesson in life about woman. Not because you are afraid of losing money but because we all have to learn to love one another in respect. It is more respectful to move on and let her go.

Domestic violence is about the abuser's need to control and the abuser's beliefs that say it is okay to use physical violence or other types of violence or intimidation to maintain that control when he feels his wife or girlfriend is doing something he doesn't like – when he perceives she is out of his control. He says he is not a monster, but he IS an abuser!

Actually, any music lover would and could never forget about Chris Brown. You have to give credit where it is due regardless of PERSONAL choices he has made. The problem is no one can ever seperate the business from the personal. Chris Brown is human and this is not the first time a guy has beat a girl. Is it right of course not, under any circumstances, but don't crucify him like he invented domestic violence. Hope and pray he can get help to rectify his anger issues like the domestic violence system is suppose to do. Generic? Uninspired? You clearly have never listened to his music. Rihanna will accept his statement without question, who am I, you or ANYBODY ELSE to say different. Get your own lives if you aren't going to hear stories like this and look into ways of helping. How about volunteering at your local domestic violence shelter, get a little closer look at BOTH sides of domestic violence, I'm sure your comments will change.

So many times people assume it is the man who is only at fault. We should not judge the situation based on what the media has stated. Given that Rhianna seems to have maintained all her endorsement deals and Chris Brown has not it seems that some have chosen sides and formed an opinion which is ridiculous. Given the fact that the trial or whatever deal that may be struck has not been completed and the FACTS have not been made public one should not be forming an opinion of who is right and who is wrong. I am not saying that hitting anyone is OK what I am saying is that sometimes there is only so much a person can take and anger for whatever reasons rears its ugly head in many forms and one should not judge with out all the facts. Also the media and the public have a tendency of placing people in role model positions that should not be and then when they make a mistake the media cuts them up and spits the story out with out the true facts only two people know what happen and I highly doubt anyone else one else will find out the truth!

You would be surprised, a lot of his female fans actually still support him. Its the whole superstar complex, they hated Rihanna for being with "Their Man" and have convinced themselves while its not alright to hit a woman like that, there must have been some reason. I have heard a very intelligent and attractive friend of mine (Electrical Engineer) explain that it isn't his fault and we shouldn't judge him.

He's not a monster, he's a child. Nothing he has done has displayed any decency or compassion because he is not a man, he is an immature, stuck up little boy. His early rise to fame was a gift and a curse, it gained him popularity and money, but spared him the trials that make one an adult. He's so far from a mature, responsible adult that he probably thinks he's the victim in this situation. A real man would have stepped up, apologized and accepted his punishment, 'C-Breezy', nope, he's yesterday's narcissistic child. At least his career is over, a classless woman beater like that doesn't deserve the accolades that he has previously garnered.

Im not worried about Chris Brown, nor will i ever care he is just another so called "music artist" in a played out industry where everyone sounds the same. There is no justice that can level out domestic violence. i would like to say to chris brown that no matter what you say to the camera's today, tomorrow or a year from now those picturesof rihanna will always show you as a monster the fan whom are blind to the fact see you as nothing more than what you really are.

Well...beating up a woman until her face is nearly swollen without recognition is a pretty monstrous act. And I am hating that you took this opportunity to break your silence with unrepentant, disgusting and delusional self-promotion.

If you really want to make a comeback, try apologizing for what you did and the example you set to all the young people who look up to you. And, don't forget the anger management help.

What a LOSER ! Rihanna's way better off without YOU!! And you should be in jail for what you did to her – any joe on the street would have been locked up!

I agree with the above comment. Chris should be in jail for what he did. I wonder who the "real fans" are? Can they speak English as well as Chris?

"You ain't a monster?" Give me a break.

I believe that people make mistakes and can reform themselves ... I still believe in you.. but you could have showed some class and responded more intelligently! You left room for speculation with that response.... not to bright are ya! Fact remains you did something wrong.... lets own up to that.... sounds like your haten on anyone who disagrees with violence against women.... what is your take on that Chris?

WTF? "Everybody that's haters, they just been haters"! Is this idiot for real? Mr. Brown you are a woman beater and if your fans stick with you through this, then they are just as messed up as you are! NEVER under any circumstances is it okay to do what you did. You should be ashamed of yourself for what you did and you should take full responsibility for what you did. I don't care who leaked what, you did what you did and that DOES NOT change the facts. OWN UP and GET HELP!

By "Haters" do you mean people who dont condone domestic violence regardless of whether it's a celebrity or not?

Well, Today I found out I am a "Hater."
Hmmm. We learn something new everyday.

Wow, he needs to work on his grammar. He will lose whatever fans he has left talking like a thug.
:( I used to be a big Chris Brown fan... I hope he's getting the therapy he needs.

I think that, given the photos that leaked, his statement might be a bit more convincing if he even attempted to offer some evidence. He does not have the sterling sort of reputation that would predispose people to accept his statement without question.

Also, what fans could he possibly have left? Even in prison? He was famous for two seconds. If there weren't charges pending for horrendously assaulting a talented musician, everyone would have forgotten Chris Brown's generic uninspired music already.

Wow, he beats up women and on top of that, can't speak english. What a sad little man...

I hate to break it to ya Chris, but your "real fans" are probably writing in from jail where you should be.
