Zac Efron replaced in 'Footloose'

The producers of "Footloose" have found a replacement for what used to be Zac Efron's role in the film. Chace Crawford will be stepping in for the remake that begins shooting next year.

Rosario Dawson and Kevin James will be filming "Zookeeper" together. And "Scrubs" star Zach Braff will be teaming up with Cameron Diaz for Braff's first writing/directing gig since "Garden State" five years ago.

CNN's Jennifer Wolfe has more on these tidbits in today's buzz:

Why even destroy the movie by making a god-awful remake.

Hollywood is out of fresh ideas for movies. I guess it's time to remake everything until a new group of talented writers arrives.

Although I'm an Adam Lambert fan, Hollywood still remembers "From Justin to Kelly", just didn't work on the big screen

To Chris in Los Angeles: I understand the crux of your point but neither "The Avengers" nor "Lost In Space" were TV shows from the 1970s. They both aired in the '60s.

Why would they remake this classic- leave classics alone- – May I remind everyone of Dirty Dancing II? What in the world is Hollywood thinking!

I was really happy to read this story because there are not enough dance movies made. I'm a real fan of the genre. Nobody puts Baby in a corner.

Zac turned down the part...what do you mean "Zac Efron replaced in Footloose"? Chase Crawford resembles Zac anyway. Zac would have done an excellent job had he chosen to do the movie. I loved Footloose with Kevin Bacon and am very excited about the remake. I am sure Chase will do a great job...

Thank God. Zac Efron became too big a star too fast, and he would have turned my favorite old movie into a tween girl flick. How much do you wanna bet that they would have given him a shirtless basketball scene, too? XD

Um I know everyone in Hollywod is fake but can someone please come up with some original material. A re-make of Footloose?! What could they not get a script or re-write for Crush Grove?

People please stop making crappy re-makes or 70's Televisions; a la Starsky & Hutch, The Avengers, Lost in Space, Land of the Lost.. And if you going to make a re-make make it worth watching, like Mission Impossible, or The Saint.

A nice A-Team movie would be good, please dont make it a comedy everyone hates that so much, make it griitier, make it good.
