Top 5: Where am I?

Posted: 09:24 PM ET

Adam is in the bottom three, but I cannot even fathom that he could go home.

Adam Lambert

Oh Adam, you never, ever pick what group you should be in. You are supposed to plop your booty down on the stage and refuse to choose.

Now look what you have gone and done. You've messed with the universe and ended up in the bottom three!

Yuna   April 29th, 2009 9:25 pm ET

My jaw dropped to see Adam in the bottom 3 while Matt was safe!!??? I hope we don’t have a Daughtry Season repeat!!! I remember voting for Daughtry and couldn’t get through because “all circuits were busy” and last night, the same thing happened when I tried to vote for Adam.

Yuna   April 29th, 2009 9:28 pm ET

Ooopss, my bad, I said Matt was safe, when in fact it's Allison and Danny who are safe.

gail   April 29th, 2009 9:28 pm ET

This is hard for me. Adam is safe. It's either Matt or Chris. if based on last night, I say Matt should go.

Dan   April 29th, 2009 9:29 pm ET

Would LMAO if Adam goes home! ROTFLMAO!

Lizzy02   April 29th, 2009 9:29 pm ET

Who says Matt is safe. He is in the bottom Yuna.

PC   April 29th, 2009 9:30 pm ET

Idol will be a lot better if he goes home.

Lily   April 29th, 2009 9:30 pm ET

Bye Bye Adam.

Sally   April 29th, 2009 9:31 pm ET

I think this is just AI trying to put some drama into the results. I truly don't think Adam will go home and still think he is going to win it all. Just like Simon's comments about Matt last night, he's trying to make it look like a competition. Matt's going home tonight or next week for sure.

James   April 29th, 2009 9:32 pm ET

The bottom three of five. That's not saying much.

cindy   April 29th, 2009 9:33 pm ET

Matt isnt safe, he's in the bottom three with Kris and Adam.

AR   April 29th, 2009 9:33 pm ET

What is wrong with you America? You cant chose the right person for president and now you are going to follow that up with the wrong idol choice. Adam is so far ahead in talent compared to the other 4!!!

James   April 29th, 2009 9:34 pm ET

Also, I've had a really weird suspicion that Danny's core audience is what's kept him going, despite the fact that he does the same thing EVERY WEEK. What core audience, you ask? You figure it out–it should be pretty obvious.

Bob   April 29th, 2009 9:34 pm ET

Wow, is Adam full of himself or what? Promptly prances over to the “safe” group only to have his butt escorted to the bottom 3. Classic!

Judette   April 29th, 2009 9:35 pm ET

I fear this will be another Daughtry episode but would that be so bad for Adam? He will get a record deal anyway. As a matter of fact, it probably would hurt AI more than Adam at this point.
Nonetheless, I want to see Adam in the Finals.

TeechABC   April 29th, 2009 9:36 pm ET

Adam in the bottom 3? Unthinkable!

Susan - Canada   April 29th, 2009 9:37 pm ET

I can't believe he picked the group he thought he should have been with. I would have refused to pick one.....Someone feels a little foolish right now...I'm sure he's not feeling too "cocky and smug right! I hope Chris is o.k. and that Adam goes home.

PC   April 29th, 2009 9:38 pm ET

Oh man, please please let Adam be gone and make this show watch worthy again. I have despised him ever since the mockery he made of Johnny Cash

Susan - Canada   April 29th, 2009 9:39 pm ET

Yahoo....Chris is safe. Wow....Adam could go home. I bet you he sure is feeling the heat now. His fans must all be freaking out!

sabrina   April 29th, 2009 9:40 pm ET

If Adam goes home, I am convinced of a computer error.. bottom line! This sucks!!!!

cindygb   April 29th, 2009 9:42 pm ET

No way Adam is in the bottom 2! This is a rig job. Matt is going home but they've stuck Adam in the bottom 2 to add to the drama. If Adam goes home I'm not watching any more.

Thorne   April 29th, 2009 9:42 pm ET

You know Adam MUST be doing something right if he brings out that much unadulterated vitriol from people. His comment block always has the most. See now I'm not a Danny fan, yet I don't feel the need to go and post that on his comment section. I absolutely adore Adam, but I don't want him to be the AI. I'd rather be able to see him tear up the Broadway stage. I'd like to see Kris of Allison win.

bri   April 29th, 2009 9:43 pm ET

adam being in the bottom three is fox's attempt to add a little suspense to the show. this is ridiculous. we all know that adam has this in the bag.

kd   April 29th, 2009 9:43 pm ET

The thing of it is....As soon as they were lined up on stage and you saw the way Ryan was calling them off you knew the middle man had to be in the bottom 3.

Angela   April 29th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

i am in shock – adam has had the most downloads and is the most creative one on the show! He CAN NOT GO HOME !

Bob   April 29th, 2009 9:44 pm ET

Sally, I think you're right. We may as well enjoy this moment while we can though. Nice to see Adam sweat a little. Teach him to take sides. LOL

marc   April 29th, 2009 9:46 pm ET

This looks like a fix to me to keep things interesting, because truth be told Adam is the best talent out of this group. This leaves me with little faith in the show and the politics behind it...Not sure I can trust the behind the scenes and the obvious fixing of this voting...

Anna   April 29th, 2009 9:47 pm ET

I love Adam, and he is definitely the most talented and is going to win, but in truth last night was not his best performance (as I commented on this blog last night!). I hope this will motivate him to kick it up a notch or two and not rest on his laurels.

CNN blogger, I agree!! Even if Adam thought there was NO chance he was in the bottom 3, he NEVER should have picked the group he thought he was in! That is interpreted by America as arrogance instead of confidence and it turns people off. Adam, take heart–you can bounce back from these two missteps!

Shelby   April 29th, 2009 9:49 pm ET

It shouldn't surprise anyone that he's in the bottom three. Everyone is getting sick of his same old routine of screeching and screaming. Also, he takes a song and changes it so bad to fit his dorky style that you aren't sure what the hell he's singing anymore! I hope he goes SOON!

watch'n n wait'n   April 29th, 2009 9:50 pm ET

Hell to the NO!!! Adam better not go home tonight!!!

Paul   April 29th, 2009 9:50 pm ET

It should be Matt that goes, but Adam has not been up to par the last couple of weeks. Great to see that Simon failed in his quest to eliminate Alison!

Tina   April 29th, 2009 9:54 pm ET

Rats! I had such high hopes that he would depart tonight!

Brandy   April 29th, 2009 9:55 pm ET

Thank Goodness. People, make your calls next week. Tonight should tell you that Adam is not safe. I never called until the finale last year and then only once this year did I call in my vote. After tonight, I'm gonna call call call.

tothemoon   April 29th, 2009 9:55 pm ET

I will stop watching the show when Adam is voted off. He is the only one I would consider seeing in concert or buying a music track from but someone like Danny will win because of his sweet personality but forgettable dorky singing (is his name Danny Dorky?).

bub   April 29th, 2009 10:03 pm ET

amen brutha!!! he tilted it. never win now.

tulip531   April 29th, 2009 10:17 pm ET

WHAT? I was floored that Adam was in the bottom three. I have to agree that this had to be TV drama! Adam is one of the most talented singers (artist.... my bad Jamie) I have listened to in a long time. Good job Idols, but I am glad to see Adam stay! ADAM... KNOCK THEM DEAD NEXT WEEK! Good luck to you!

Elizabeth Lodge   April 29th, 2009 10:21 pm ET

Next week Adam Nation should sit on the phone for the whole two hours voting. Gosh, I don't know anyone who would watch the friggin' show if Adam is sent home. At any rate, we have to do battle on principle.

I'm 62-years-old and I'll vote for Adam until they shut it off... so you should, too.

Scout   April 29th, 2009 10:22 pm ET

NEVER, NEVER ASSUME YOUR IDOL IS SAFE. EVERY VOTE COUNTS SO KEEP TRYING. ADAM ALL THE WAY.

Look at the downloads from ITunes, the blogs, and Simon's comments in TV Guide this week, (he gave it to Danny with a 55/45 with Adam coming in second) but predicted Adam would be an international star. Can we let Danny win? Danny will be great on the Christian Network, but I wouldn't pay to hear him sing live or on CD. Keep trying for the full two hours. Just keep hitting redial. Adam is the best entertainer to come from IDOL in my year's of watching it.

joan   April 29th, 2009 10:23 pm ET

The most talented person on the show and he is in the bottom three...what is up with that....if Adam is voted off I will never watch this program....probably won't anyway....I don't think there is a human on this earth that even comes close to this dude....imagine the last few weeks with no Adam...nothing at all to look forward to....

Fitzwilly56   April 29th, 2009 10:25 pm ET

I'm wondering who the heck was voting last night? Kris and Adam bottom three Danny and Allison safe? The world turns upside down. At least the voters got it right when they sent Matt back to Michigan. But as for the rest of the choices, they put the top two in the bottom three. Something is wrong when this can happen.

J.R.   April 29th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

It's going to be Adam all the way! There's no one like him ever! Adam fans, please VOTE for Adam and don't think that he is always safe! VOTE! VOTE!

Linda   April 29th, 2009 10:32 pm ET

It's okay that it happened. It puts things into perspective. Adam rocks! The other three deserve to be in the top as well; they have worked hard especially Kris. But Adam rocks!

Fitzwilly56   April 29th, 2009 10:37 pm ET

You go, Elizabeth! I'm 53 and intend to vote all the way for Adam.

Sherri   April 29th, 2009 10:39 pm ET

I'm glad he was in the bottom three. Maybe it will bring the little twit back down to earth. Actually, I usually enjoy his voice and what he brings to the stage, but last night I thought he pretty much s*cked.

Susan   April 29th, 2009 10:49 pm ET

Ok guys, settle down this is the storie. This week by accident the actual numbers of idol itune sales crept, not sure how .It was quite an ordeal for idol.Because that is a huge indicater of the idols standing. So in order to cover their tracks and disillusioning people they put Adam down there to certainly throw people off. Not Fail huh, that television!! More like that's Idol.

Eden   April 29th, 2009 10:50 pm ET

I am with you, Elizabeth and Fitzwilly56. I am 61 and intend to vote for Adam only! In my opinion Adam makes the show.

Renuka   April 29th, 2009 10:54 pm ET

This is so totally rigged. I can understand that Danny might've got more votes than Adam based on last night's performance but there is NO way that FOX didn't rig this to promote Kris. Kris is so useless. He needs to go home next. Adam is a star regardless of FOX's stupid tricks.

taylor   April 29th, 2009 10:56 pm ET

I heard the same storie. Adam has itune sales out of this world so obviously, they don't want that out there. Not yet anyway. Poor Adam. Stuck in the middle.

Kristi   April 29th, 2009 11:00 pm ET

There was a glimmer of hope in the air when Adam was put in the bottom 3.

mafa   April 29th, 2009 11:12 pm ET

yes adam is a great singer, but if you listen, really listen he sings everything the same. even sang the same "girly scream" during the group act tonite. jeez people, the real artistic talent is with allison & danny. we'll see adam all over broadway and theater productions but we'll see allison & danny on the charts!

jl   April 29th, 2009 11:16 pm ET

It might give Adam a wake up call. Yes, he can sing, but his theatrical background does give him the advantage over the other singers who more readily fit the description of "amateur" which is what the show is supposed to be about - finding new talent. Putting him in the bottom three hopefully will give him a wake up call and bring him back down to earth. To show how cocky he is, he picked to put himself in with the group of winners instead of being noncommital. Bad move. Also, although he does do great variations on songs, you can always expect him to open his mouth wide, do that tongue thing and scream on all of his songs. Perhaps it's time he did a little less screaming. Just my opinion. I was as shocked as anyone else he was in the bottom three though. I think next to go should be Kris. Not impressed with him at all.

Jeff   April 29th, 2009 11:20 pm ET

I refuse to be interested in a talent show where the votes are fixed. See ya, American Idol.

tkrog   April 29th, 2009 11:25 pm ET

the screamer in the bottom 2!!! woohoo!!! the best night yet this season of AI. the only thing better would have been to see his face as he was booted off...of course Matt had to go, he stinks...but my goodness, how the group at my home watching was laughing and cheering for the screamer to go!! now that some of the voting has gotten close to realistic i'll watch again next week.

Marilyn   April 29th, 2009 11:28 pm ET

He so deserved to be in the bottom three. He is getting kind of
cocky if you ask me. Danny and Kris are awesome but I did love
Matt also, but someone has to go.

Maverick   April 29th, 2009 11:33 pm ET

bye bye Scream boy!! We all heard enuffff of your screams.

Dunerider   April 29th, 2009 11:42 pm ET

I tried voting for Adam for 2 hours and couldn't get through. I seriously question the legitimacy of the vote count. Other than a couple of homophobes who are afraid of him, the consensus in the press is that he's WAY out ahead of not just this year's group but all years. I seriously think this was "manufactured drama" - putting him in the bottom 2 in spite of the vote count.

Dana   April 29th, 2009 11:45 pm ET

FINALLY, people begin to realize that Adam cannot sing!! He is a total arrogant, show-off with a schreechy voice! Painful to listen too. It's never a good sign when your entrance is your best feature!. See ya, Adam.

art   April 29th, 2009 11:51 pm ET

Kris is better than adam...Adam's histrionics are starting to look repetitive...But, adam sure has talent and can come second...In my opinion, Danny is the worst of the bunch and should've gone home long long ago...He sings as if an insect is lodged in his throat – he huffs and he puffs and his range is, ummmm....platonic...He must be the anti-sex factor in the show...

Viv   April 29th, 2009 11:53 pm ET

This will probably be my last season watching American Idol. Adam has turned this show on its ear, and it will never be the same. Never before have I watched with such anticipation and delight. I have never picked up the phone and voted, but you can be sure that that will change next week! I can't believe I am 51, twice-divorced, and absolutely in love with a 27-year-old gay man! Adam has truly blown me away, and I can't wait to buy his music, whatever he decides to do after Idol.

My Jaw Smiled   April 30th, 2009 12:08 am ET

I smiled inside and out when I heard Adam was in the bottom three!

bridgette   April 30th, 2009 12:10 am ET

Big Adam Lambert fan here, shocked is a mild word to describe what I felt when they said he was in the bottom three. But Adam being Adam, took it in stride and remained cool, calm and collected. I think Adam wants to win, but he knows that not everyone likes him, and probably has ran the possibility of being voted out through his mind, and will deal with it with his usual show of class. He's smart enough to know he has an amazing career waiting for him, win or lose. He's an star, the biggest star of American Idol If he doesn't win, I will feel sorry for the winner, because they will be in his shadow. Not one of the other contestants can match him in singing ability, showmanship or personality. If all of these finalist are in a room together, all the eyes are going to go to Adam. He exudes warmth and that makes you want to talk to him. When all of this is over and the albums are released, Adam will outsale the other finalist, by a large number. I can't wait for his album, hopefully representing the Adam we have seen week after week, fiery, passionate and totally over the top. That's the guy I like, and I don't want him to change.

Must I Hear All the Whiners   April 30th, 2009 12:12 am ET

Whine about Adam? Whiny Whine Wine! just like Adam sings! UGh!!!!!

Tluv   April 30th, 2009 12:13 am ET

Kristi, indeed, I felt like the universe might really be OK when they announced Adam in the bottom three.

It was heart warming

Suzee   April 30th, 2009 12:25 am ET

People, people... this is all orchestrated by the shows powers that be. Come on, we"re not that stupid. They have several reasons for doing this. To get rid of the "Adam has this all wrapped up already" factor, who wants to keep watching a show when you already know the outcome? Next, perhaps Adam has gotten a little big for his britches and they needed to put him in his place a tad. Lets just examine this, 47 , 41 million whatever, votes and Adam is in the bottom 2? Tell me... who did the votes go to? Danny and Allison because they were just so gosh darn good? Kris because he blows us away each and every week? If you buy that, I have some swamp land here in Florida you may be interested in. Of Course they rigged this, it's their show, they can do whatever they want to do, at anytime. They aren't required by law to state who the actual votes went to, and my my my, isn't this a real twist that will keep you all tuned in next week, to see if poor Adam will wind up in the bottom next week as well! And boys and girls, don't forget that now with this shocking twist will have you all calling in furiously by the millions extra next week and thereafter, won't that look wonderful in the audience share reports given to companies who wish to purchase advertisments on the show. This is as bogus as it gets. I dont buy this BS for one second, and am throughly disgusted by this blatant disregard for our collective intelligence. AI, bite me.

Dianne   April 30th, 2009 1:01 am ET

Come on people, can you just imagine next week without Adam. Snooze fest for sure and a show that just had all it's steam let out. I think that Adam has shook up this season like no other and what bigger drama than to cast him in the bottom 3. Is there any way I believe he was truly in the bottom 2, no way. It isn't even logical given how people have gone ga ga and obsessed over this guy like no other in the history of Idol. Use your common sense here and don't worry. He'll never be out of lives whether he wins or not. He's here to stay.

Scoot   April 30th, 2009 1:14 am ET

Thank you America!!!!!

Next week he is OUTTA HERE!!!!!!

Ann   April 30th, 2009 1:25 am ET

Why do you guys hate Adam so much? He was not arrogant at all when he took a side....you could hear how nervous he was. And did you see and hear how shocked not only the judges and audience were, but the contestants too? Something doesn't quite add up. Even when Ryan first said Adam's name, the crowd went WILD, more wild than for the other contestants.

Are you Adam-haters just a bunch of bigots? Seriously, what type of person are you? I can understand not liking his music, but to slam him personally is so telling of YOU as a person. Get a life!

Kate   April 30th, 2009 1:57 am ET

Adam, you have my full support. Don't care about a word on this side, that side. You do not deserve to the bottom 1, 2, 3 or 4 in this group. Someone is behind all this to stir up dramas. Just concentrate and continue to do your best. Whatever week they name it, is just a piece of cake to you. Stay focus and enjoy all the funs while there. You are the only STAR which shines through every week from Day One. Yes, all others can sing and talented but there is only one in the entire Show really possess true Star quality. Randy is absolutely right on this. If you have it, you have it. You are the only one who got it. You are a BOMB ! Don't forget Simon Cowell never gives standing O to contestants.

Karalee   April 30th, 2009 2:39 am ET

Let's face it – Adam is in love with himself. He's cocky, creepy and a totally over the top DRAMA QUEEN! I'd love to see him get knocked down a few notches. He will definitely be another Taylor Hicks! I can see it already! A LOSER all the way!!! Plus I hope he loses his voice with all that screeching and screaming.

Barbara Perry   April 30th, 2009 2:42 am ET

Those who think Adam ripped off Johnny Cash or whoever-you are nuts! Adam is the only true artist of the group. He takes the best ideas of the best people -ie Johnny Cash and others and mixes them with his own genius and flare and turns out things the Johnny Cash's of the world would be proud of. He is a gem and I think it is abominable that he was in the bottom three. That goes beyond ridiculous! and shame on you Ryan and shame on American Idol for making him pick which group to go with!!! That is not cool and it's very cruel. You set Adam up to come across differently than he really is and you alienate him from his fellow contestants. Shame on you!! My opinion of you, Ryan, has just tanked.

Penny   April 30th, 2009 3:44 am ET

Hey guys! I am a huge Adam fan and he should win. In my opinion he has given STAR quality performances week after week. The man's music and videos are selling like hot cakes. Tha said, I did not think his performance was the best. Danny, Kris and Matt appealed to me more. Adam was great, don't ge me wrong. But, I felt he was not singing to the audience with emotion as before. Adam is allowed to have an off night. The thing is all 5 gave very stellar like performances and to most Danny stood out. So, if you rate them weekly some do better than others. What I will say is that Danny has not been shining like Adam week after week. Danny's music is not selling like Adam's, just check out Itunes. So, Adam should win, but some many may not have voted because he seems such a clear winner. VOTE LIKE HELL IF YOU WANT ADAM TO WIN!! But, it won't matter since it is obvious he can sell records and entertain us like nobody else ever will!!!

honowoowoo   April 30th, 2009 6:11 am ET

Shame, shame, shame on Fox! I have voted for this young man every week for 2 hours straight, I've even joined his fan club on the AI site ... and I am in no way you're typical "young" viewer! I've been a fan of the AI show for all of its years, but this is the first year that I've joined a fan club and voted every single week ... and I know I'm not the only one! Please Fox, if you think that we believe that thing young man got the lowest amount of votes? Too bad, AI isn't produced by a network like CNN that has integrity! Shame on you, Fox!!

Love, love, love this young man!!

edward   April 30th, 2009 6:15 am ET

I would love to watch Adam on the screen or on stage but would NEVER buy his CD. Can you imagine 40 minutes of drama queen wailing?? Eeeeeeek!!!!

Kay   April 30th, 2009 6:33 am ET

Completely rigged to generate suspense. There's no way Adam would get the second-least amount of votes. The producers just want to make it seem as if he might lose, giving people a reason to watch.

He was pretty stupid to pick a side, though. He'll have to work very hard to keep people from seeing him as an arrogant jerk now.

CW   April 30th, 2009 6:47 am ET

Adam desrved to be in the bottom 3. To much drama with this guy. The sticking his tongue out when he sings is gross.

Karen   April 30th, 2009 6:51 am ET

I like Adam a lot, however, maybe being in the bottom two will show him some humility – which he was greatly lacking.

Amy   April 30th, 2009 6:55 am ET

I also believe it was a gimmick to put Adam, and maybe even Kris, in the bottom three. I would have stopped watching if Adam had gone home. He's the only reason I tune in.

Also, those of you giving Adam a hard time for picking a group, ease up. That was totally wrong of Ryan to put him in that position. You could see how uncomfortable that made things. When he wouldn't let up and Adam HAD to make a choice, all he was, was honest. But this show – and many of you people out there – love to be cruel.

Adam, hang in there and sing good for us next week. I will start voting for you. It'll be the first time I've ever voted for anyone in 8 years, because you deserve it more than anyone ever has. Love ya, baby.

Dianne   April 30th, 2009 7:17 am ET

Elizabeth and all Adam's fans. I will vote for Adam until they kick me off the phone next week. The show would be absolutely no fun without him. BTW...I'm also 62. : )

Nae   April 30th, 2009 7:19 am ET

Adam finally got what he deserves. Knocked off his high horse. He isn't all that and a bag of chips!!

molly shepherd   April 30th, 2009 7:24 am ET

Well said, Eden; and Kristi: you're dumber than a box of rocks! Adam in the bottom 2, next to that talent-less dork Matt? No way that happened! He's not fit to wash Adam's socks!!! And Dopey Danny just makes my teeth hurt. UGH!
Kris is such a non-entity I just don't know what to say.....
Adam is the true star! If he goes, we quit watching this show!!!!!

Bob   April 30th, 2009 7:32 am ET

Wow, the grannies are coming out of the woodwork for Adam just like they did for Liberace!

Steven   April 30th, 2009 7:39 am ET

I am amazed at the gloating and chortling going on on these boards. Do you people GET that these five (and the ones before them) are putting EVERYTHING they have into achieving their dreams? The work, the stress, the fear, the second-guessing must all be monumental - even if they are professional enough to not let it show on stage.

Personally, I like Adam, and hope he makes it into the finals, and I believed that it was Matt's time to go. But I don't take any JOY from the fact that he is going home - I can only imagine how heartbreaking that must be.

To have a favorite is fine. But let's have some class, people, and cool it with the gloating.

P.S. To all of you who are slamming Adam for "picking" the Allison/Gokey group - how you do know he wasn't picking the group he thought was in the bottom? Just something to think about.

carolyn obren   April 30th, 2009 8:08 am ET

I think people thought Adam was safe and didn't vote. I bet he will never be in the boottom again. He is so like a young Elvis and he is on EVERYONES mind. He is so awesome and talented. If he doesn't win idol I will never watch the show again......

Nancy   April 30th, 2009 8:17 am ET

I'm surprised to read some of you don't care for Adam. The FACT is, he has raw, natural talent that is so far beyond the others, they can't touch him. I realize this does not secure a win. They're all good, but he is in a different league.
I'm sure if he does lose, he will ultimately have great success without the American Idol title.

Lady   April 30th, 2009 8:20 am ET

Adam needs to go. ugh!

Larry "O", Wentzville MO   April 30th, 2009 8:22 am ET

Well the Producer's did a good job last night!!. I agree with the Media people, American Idol tweek's the show to make it stay on top. I would love to see the votes (Which no one has ever seen) and look at just who got the most and who really got the least. I still think it will be ADAM vs CHRIS. No matter I believe we are looking a 5 people already headed to the studio, stage, etc. It will just be a bonus for them to have the AI title. Good luck to all the top 4.

dndlit1   April 30th, 2009 8:33 am ET

CHRIS IS SO BORING compared TO ADAM .............he should go next ...........

ray   April 30th, 2009 8:45 am ET

adam is so lame...he looks like a perv...i would not let my kids buy his cd...he thinks he has this sowed up...think again...i hope the girl or kris wins it...and danny is so full of himself

Wendy   April 30th, 2009 8:52 am ET

I was shocked! No way! Adam does not belong in the bottom of anything. He's an amazing talent and Idol has never been this exciting with Adam on the show. I think this is rigged! Talent is talent and he Is the best on Idol, EVER!!!

Becky   April 30th, 2009 8:54 am ET

Yes I was hoping that Adam would surely go home but I was disappointed when Ryan Seacreast said he was safe :( I don't like Adam and I haven't since day one. I think he is too much of a drama queen...he needs to be on Broadway. I would rather see anyone win other than him.

Barbara   April 30th, 2009 8:58 am ET

I do believe they got it wrong lastnight. It is obvious that Adam was "placed" in the bottom 3 by AI not in the bottom 3 based on votes. AI has got to be kidding!!!! Adam did NOT get the next least amount of votes after Matt. Adam has never been in the bottom 3 this whole season so far and was usually the first one asked to sit back down because he was safe. Meaning to It was from one extreme to the other with Adam being in the bottom 3. They had a record 47,000,000 votes Tuesday night and this is their way of surpassing that amount next Tuesday. Hate to say it but they are using Adam's popularity to make a hugh amount of money and get a skyrocketing amount of votes. It is sad to add man-made drama to the show. Kris nor any of the others, by any stretch of the imagination, is anywhere close to the talen that Adam is. I am really going to hate it if we get another "Taylor, Fantasia, or Ruben" voted in as the American Idol winner. I believe the AI winner needs to actually have talent and be entertaining.

Nance   April 30th, 2009 9:04 am ET

Are they kidding...such DRAMA...give Adam the money , shut off the lights ...it's all over...

Pat   April 30th, 2009 9:09 am ET

An AI Sunt. Pullease. Matt going home was the elephant in the room.

Everybody knew it, the contestants, the judges, Ryan and everybody except the Adam haters.

C   April 30th, 2009 9:12 am ET

Adam – - – U go BOY!!!
Idol or Broadway, it doesn't matter, you're a STAR!!!

JDK   April 30th, 2009 9:14 am ET

Adam is a star plain and simple. He will end up being one of the greats like Rod Steward and others of that caliper. I'm sure after all the producers waiting to sign him, he could care less if he wins this or not. American Idol would probably have a slim chance of having him appear as a guest in the future because of his enormas popularity. Mark my word, he will be bigger then Michael Jackson was before his child perverting stunts.

TSRVT   April 30th, 2009 9:17 am ET

There seem to be a lot of real losers posting to this thread. Adam is by far the most talented one of the group, it's not even close. These geniuses who want him off are the same nitwits who will buy Jamie Foxx's crappy music, no doubt. No taste, no sense.

Lee   April 30th, 2009 9:23 am ET

The show would be so boring without Adam! He is the only contestant that I would pay to see in concert.

Pat   April 30th, 2009 9:26 am ET

Fitz,

There's definately something fishy going on at Idol, but that par for the course.

Jeff   April 30th, 2009 9:35 am ET

Lose Adam, you lose a viewer (me)

Bob   April 30th, 2009 9:41 am ET

Bottom three for geek boy...it proves he is not imune form taking the train home.....the other three need to knock it out of the park next week and Adam "Eddie Munster" can go...he is usless....

angela   April 30th, 2009 9:42 am ET

Well well well... I have to say, I have been an Adam fan from day one... The guy definitely can sing!!! But, that allllll changed last night when he actually picked a side... Arrogant much?! So now all my votes will go to Kris or Allison... I have liked them from the start as well but Adam is just way above everyone else... I dont do arrogance, so he needs to be sent packing next week (was really kinda hopin he was the one to go this week after that little stunt of his...)... He's gonna get a record deal regardless, and I'm sure he would do better without Idol's obligations anyway...

Farrell   April 30th, 2009 9:56 am ET

Adam is way out of his league on American Idol. He should be recording.

Li   April 30th, 2009 9:57 am ET

Adam was definitely supposed to sit his butt down in the middle of the stage and not choose. That's what he gets for choosing, being in the bottom three! I am sure next week he won't be. Kris should've gone home instead of Matt! Kris should be gone next week

Robyn   April 30th, 2009 10:03 am ET

Susan; what are you talking about?? The contestants go into the bottom three because of VOTES, not itune downloads. Adam was the 2nd LOWEST vote getter from Tuesday night, plain and simple. Whether or not people download the itunes has no relevence as to the voting that took place the night before. I was holding my breath WAITING for Ryan to send Adam packing last night!!! His screaming, screetching and fat head need to leave. And last night when he picked the WRONG (saved) group to stand with only to be led over to Matt and Kris' group was CLASSIC!! GO DANNY!!!!

Mark   April 30th, 2009 10:13 am ET

angela

I too was surprised, but you always have to believe in one self. He got comments of prase from the judges so why not think you are on the winning team. If you feel he is the best singer then go for it and vote for him.

Jillian Polo   April 30th, 2009 10:14 am ET

Isn't this Kate Gosselin's hair cut in this picture of Adam? Adam you are great.

Big fan   April 30th, 2009 10:17 am ET

Everyone needs to vote for Adam every week if we want him to win. People think he's a shoo-in so they don't vote for him, thinking he'll win anyway. This is what happened to Daughtry. Vote, vote, vote, for Adam. Wonder if the Las Vegas odds of him winning will change now.

Big fan   April 30th, 2009 10:20 am ET

If Adam does win, it will set a record (at least for the last 4-5 seasons I've watched the show). An eventual winner NEVER ended up in the bottom 3 that I can recall - not Carrie, or Taylor, or Jordin, etc. If someone remembers differently, let me know.

ABBEY   April 30th, 2009 10:23 am ET

I CANT believe he was in the bottom three lst night! I wanted to cry my eyes out when he wasnt saved the first time! I dont want him to go home until the show is over and he has won American Idol!

Amy   April 30th, 2009 10:38 am ET

Angela, you have got to be kidding, judging Adam the way you are in your post. What makes you so sure Adam thought he was picking the "winning" group? I have always thought Kris would be in the finals, so he could've thought that was the group to pick. On the other hand, that was a totally cruel game to play on him, to ask him to pick and put him on the spot like that. In case you didn't notice, he was horrified at that, and then things got worse when Ryan never let him off the hook and FORCED him to choose.

Anyone who would not see all of this, and would say they WERE a fan of his until he showed this "arrogance" was never a fan in the first place. Don't worry, he doesn't need "fans" like you. There are plenty of us who are loyal to Adam and who wouldn't turn against him because we couldn't see through another of American Idol's games.

Josie   April 30th, 2009 10:40 am ET

Being confident of your singing skills does not mean you are arrogant. The show is a competition, why would he put himself in the bottom...he wants to win....who doesn't? He seems very humble and always says thank you to the judges. I think he is brilliant and I was shocked that he was in the bottom. He has been the only one that has made every song sound unique and enjoyable. Give him credit for what he is good at.

ropesmom   April 30th, 2009 10:51 am ET

Okay . . . I have watched AI since the finale of Season 1 and not since Daughtry have we had a talent like Adam's. Drama . . whatever . . . remember Kellie Pickler? Katherine McPhee??Tatiana????????? He's talented, and I agree with the Young Elvis comment. GO ADAM!!! You have my vote and have since the beginning of the top 13!!!

Ann   April 30th, 2009 10:53 am ET

Big Fan: I may be wrong, but I believe Fantasia was once in the bottom 3 the week Jennifer Hudson got the boot. Now look at them both!

Emilee   April 30th, 2009 10:54 am ET

Adam has the most ANNOYING voice in the world! How could anyone actually enjoy listening to that screeching!!

Ann   April 30th, 2009 10:57 am ET

I can't believe this "arrogance" thing on Adam's part because he picked a side! He was not cocky about it, he was nervous. And that whole thing where "he was supposed to sit in the middle on the floor" is preposterous! He's not a dog doing tricks! Some of you are so ignorant it's pathetic.

tangyt   April 30th, 2009 10:59 am ET

I was soooo happy to see Adam in the bottom. That is where he needs to be. He takes every song and make sound the same with his annoying screeching voice.

Candy C   April 30th, 2009 11:01 am ET

Was this for real???? Adam in the bottom three. He makes the show this year. Alyson and Danny are fantastic and will have huge careers but Adam Lambert is a super star already. I have never downloaded any songs from Idol before Adam. And enough about his screeching. he sings very high notes and is always on key. like I said before Micheal Jackson sing high and look where his stardom got him. You go Adam. Bring down the house next week with rock and roll.

chip101   April 30th, 2009 11:06 am ET

I've been following Idol since season 1, i don't care if Adam is gay or what, i love him! He sings as if no one is watching!!! Never seen an idol contestant so consistently GOOD!!! He is the only Idol that i've been excited to see perform week after week! I've never been to a concert, Adam's concert will the be the 1st I will ever attend and i know that day will come!!

Wanda   April 30th, 2009 11:17 am ET

They kicked Wayne Newton around when he was young and high pitched voice, but look at him now........GO ADAM GO !!

Dan   April 30th, 2009 11:17 am ET

I am not an Adam fan, but i don't think he was being arrogant when he chose sides. I just think he had a momentary brain-fart and he didn't know what to do. As for offending the other two contestants, I doubt it. Look at the way the contestants act around each other. They act like brothers and sisters except for Adam. I think his obvious life-style choice makes him a bit of an outcast. I believe it will also cost him the show.

pat   April 30th, 2009 11:18 am ET

BOO! Adam go play somewhere else. You are so plastic and I feel you
you are acting and would do anybody to get to top. Who are you really?
You have everyone fooled

Go Danny and Allison. You guys are great! I can,t wait to buy your CDS

Chris you have come a long way. And are doing a good job and will be making CDS soon.

David   April 30th, 2009 11:28 am ET

Ya'll act like this is the first time you've seen American Idol. This happens almost every other season. I gave up the whole "who will win" scenario in season 2, and was just even more convinced when Daughtry was voted off number 4.

Who cares who wins the title? It means nothing. What means something is the album sales they have AFTER the show is over.

AI is nothin more than any and every other TV show, it's made to create drama. The producers are reading this stuff and drooling over the millions they receive for creating such drama.

Don't let the producers win. But their album once the stupid show is over.

josh   April 30th, 2009 11:30 am ET

Adam sucks and should have gone home. Talk about over the top self-indulgent garbage. Taylor Hicks part 2. He will never have a meaningful singing career. He needs to stick with theater.

momofmany   April 30th, 2009 11:35 am ET

all I can say is that when Adam was asked to choose a side, and he said "based on the performances last night..." I about screamed. What an arrogant guy, so full of himself. I did give a shout out when he was told to go to the other side, and when Kris was announced as "safe", well, that made my night. I actually had hope that Adam would finally be gone.

But it won't make for good TV if he's gone, the drama will diminish. Though I don't think he'll win. He'll be second at best. He's just too much of a showman, deserves the broadway stage with lots of feathers in his costume and long false eyelashes. Not a recording contract. Get serious, America. This guy is a loser.

Ken Perry   April 30th, 2009 11:39 am ET

I was shocked that ADAM was in the bottom 3. He is the best overall,
what is with the American people. I guess they have no clue when
real talent comes along. Adam is amazing, his range and voice
are unbeliveable. I am sure he will be a Super Star regardless
of the turn out

Amy Williams   April 30th, 2009 11:43 am ET

I think Adam Lambert will still be No. 1.
He is definitely an artist, a very professional performer.

clark   April 30th, 2009 11:45 am ET

The way I heard it was that AI told Adam he had to pick a side last night. The move is called a "Huff" (after the first contestant they put in this position – George Huff). Since then contestants have sat on the floor or sat on the bench in order not to pick a side because no matter which side you pick, fools on forums either call you stupid or arrogant or cocky.....there's no winning. Adam was nervous last night that they pulled this on him, you could see it on his face....if you saw arrogance, you made it up in your head. He also made it clear that his choice was based on the judge's feedback last night and not on a personal preference. I, for one, felt sorry for him – and for anyone they put in that position. This is one tactic AI should drop as it always backfires on the chosen contestant.

missy   April 30th, 2009 11:48 am ET

I really do like Adam but i think that Danny or Allison deserve to win. Adam will have a recording contract regardless if he wins or not. I believe American Idol just did that to shock everyone with putting Adam in the bottom 3. He isnt going anywhere next week. It will be Adam, Danny , and Allison next week.

Ginny   April 30th, 2009 11:50 am ET

Adam is terrible.

He's not memorable and he would be better doing drag on Broadway.

Jane   April 30th, 2009 1:21 pm ET

Here are the next predictions – to go – Kris, Danny, Allyson (love her voice) and ADAM WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last night was soooooooooo made up. Kris is very annoying, don't like him from the start, Danny is all boring, good vocals, but nothing to be really happy about. Too many singers like him. Too ordinary. He can't entertaine. VOTE FOR ADAM ALL HIS FANS!!!!!!!!!

Linda   April 30th, 2009 1:30 pm ET

I have watched AI every season and I can't wait for it to come on everyweek. Have never been addicted to something as I have this. All of them are great and they will go far. I am definitely an Adam fan and he WAS nervous when he was asked to pick a side. If you didn't see him squirm.... then you weren't watching. I believe that Adam is way above the rest. I also like Kris (not Chris--everyone please get his name right) and I voted for him last night. Believing all along that Adam didn't need my vote. I think that a lot of people did that and probably that is how he ended up in the bottom two. Next week.... I will split my voting for Kris and Adam. Love American Idol.

Candy C   April 30th, 2009 2:40 pm ET

Adam is not stuck up or arrogant. You people who say that have a problem yourselves. MAYBE JEALOUSY. I will laugh when he makes it big in entertainment and singing both. Last night he was put in an uncomfortable position to pick sides. I believe he thinks the other contestants are fabulous too. It shows on his face. He is not stuck up he is great and has confidence in himself.

Richard   April 30th, 2009 3:18 pm ET

Adam owns the stage when he performs. Adam in the bottom 3?
No way.
Somebody at AI played with the numbers. It wouldn't be the first time that such a thing happened.

Jason   April 30th, 2009 3:28 pm ET

I am kind of shocked not only Adam was in the bottom 3 but in the final 2. Kris had a higher vote over Adam. I am also disappointed in the way Adam presented himself with his decision of having to choose of either side to be save on. Anyone can tell you, NEVER pick a side and say "We are all good and deserve the opporunity" but since he wasn't thinking and made his little comment "Well after last night peformances" WHO DOES THAT???? I hope that does not make him look too confident in the competition. Good Luck Now Adam!

Dave in Connecticut   April 30th, 2009 3:51 pm ET

That was an eye opener for us all, I didn't think he would ever see the bottom three. What a reality check that must have been for him, and what an ego boost for Danny Gokey (who has not been in the bottom three to my knowledge). Allison and Danny's mouths dropped when he (Adam) was announced in the bottom three. Maybe it brought him down to earth and humbled him enough to appreciate it even more when he wins. Tough fight is going to go down between Adam and Danny. I like both of them but I would like to see Danny take the cake. Kris should/will go home next week.

Corey   April 30th, 2009 4:08 pm ET

Adam! No way, I was glad to see him in bottom 3. Another thing is he must not watch show each yr. Doesnt he know no one ever picks a group when they ask the person to do it. Some people here say Danny sings the same every week. Come on America Adam is the one who sings the same every week and is full of himself. I for one will not buy his CD if he wins....This years group has some really weird people....

Dennis   April 30th, 2009 4:10 pm ET

The numbers are manipulated!

Adam has talent that is leaps and bounds over everyone else.

And Allison should have rightly been kicked off! Since she always is on the bottom three.

Matt does better when wearing a hat to cover that thing growing on his forehead, which was not there at the start of the season. Even Matt is better than Allison.

Im tired of the sympathy play Gokey is getting. Yes Im sad about his wife. But he's a Michael McDonald, destined to sell cheap retakes on TV at 2am or 3am. He's monotonous.

Did anyone understand Gokey's explanation of how he thought he understood what Simon advised? He sings much better than he can talk.

Jeff   April 30th, 2009 4:11 pm ET

Screw American Idol. If they were trying to provide suspence by putting Adam in the bottom two when he shouldn't be there, then they lied to us. Fight back next week and don't watch.

Patti   April 30th, 2009 4:46 pm ET

I thought that what Ryan did, with the making Adam choose, and then putting him into the wrong group, etc, was horrible. One of the tackiest things I've seen on the show to date, and they've had some tacky. Was there a reason he felt he needed to belittle or embarass Adam? stupid.

Judette   April 30th, 2009 4:59 pm ET

All Adams fans, let's not get comfortable. Make sure to vote for him next week. I don't care if you split your vote but vote for Adam first.

jean   April 30th, 2009 5:06 pm ET

Regardless how some people dislike him, we all have to admit that the fact is Adam is the most talent contestant that AI ever had,
Go Adam!!
I can understand that if Fox tried to put the some excitement to the show to track the viewers, but I wish they can post the numbers of the votes on the screen, I still do not belive that Adam is on the bottom 2!!

Deborah   April 30th, 2009 6:18 pm ET

Adam should definitely have refused to pick a group. Big mistake to play their game. They used him and he fell for it. Do you wonder why their is real emotion in his singing. Because, Adam has always been a good and tenderhearted person and is no stranger to the pain inflicted by others. Shame on A.I. and Fox for this stunt. He did not deserve it. He puts everything he has into putting on an energetic perfomance even if they are controvertial. Look at Cher, Madonna, Rolling Stones....These are not names that did/do not spark controversy. They are artists expressing themselve. Adam shouldn't even be judged, come to think of it he is too good for this type of show. Go Adam!!

meredithNYC   May 4th, 2009 8:05 pm ET

controversy over him picking a side is absurd. this is why i feel like an idiot watching this show. but my family does and from the first time i saw adam perform (satisfaction) i was totally hooked. by his third performance i found myself actually thinking about what he would be doing the following week. give the guy a break already and lay off the personal attacks! no one else gets them ("boring" is not personal). and what difference does it make what they do with the numbers? WHAT KIND OF CONTEST ALLOWS PEOPLE TO VOTE AS OFTEN AS THEY LIKE?? is there any question but that he has the most fans? just listen, look and read! people/press/bloggers etc r obsessed with him.
