Top 7: Oh, what a night!

** SPOILER ALERT: Wednesday night’s blog reveals the final result of the show. Do not continue reading the following entries of the blog if you do not want to know the result. **

The results show turned out to be way more exciting than the performances.

Who'da thunk it?

The judges stepped up and used their save, which means Matt Giraud gets another week to try and convince viewers he has what it takes to be the next "American Idol."

Did they make the right choice?

Top 7: Safe or not?

They did it!!! They saved Matt!!!!

Matt Giraud

Ryan yells,  "Idol history has been made!"  Matt's in tears as the gang loves on him.

Of course, Simon has to be Debbie Downer and remind everyone that the bad news is this means that next week two people are going home.

More bad news - next week's theme is disco. *GROAN*

Top 7: The one on the bottom is ...

We very quickly find out that Lil is safe and Matt has to sing for his chance to stay.

He must be nervous because he is not in the best of voice, but some of the judges cheer anyway.

I'm on pins and needles.

Top 7: Miley Cyrus sings her latest

I have a confession to make.

Miley Cyrus

Sometimes, when my nose is stuffy from my allergies, I try to replicate that nasally thing Miley Cyrus does when she sings "The Climb."

Hannah Montana without the wig is rocking a strapless, sparkly dress, grabbing that mike and throwing her hair like she is a for-real singer at an honest-to-goodness concert.

How cute is that?!?!?

Top 7: The bottom three

I really need Paula and Simon to focus on the show and stop whatever nonsense they are whispering to each other.

Kris and Lil are up next. Simon gives Kris some belated love, telling him he was brilliant.

Lil gets to speak, yet again, on her song choices.

Kris gets asked to take a seat - on the couch - and Lil gets sent to the bottom three.

Then it's down to Matt and Danny. Either way it goes with these two, some folks are going to be upset. Danny's glasses are back, and Randy tells him he "worked it out" last night.

Danny is safe, and Matt is back to the bottom three.

So our bottom three are Anoop, Lil and Matt. I think every single one of them deserve to be there.

It only lasts a second as Anoop is sent back as safe!

Either Matt or Lil is going to have to sing for a spot. Good luck!

Top 7: Jennifer Hudson returns to 'American Idol'

I love Jennifer Hudson, I really do.

Jennifer Hudson

I am so proud of her success, especially given that she was eliminated so early in her competition.

It must feel great to come back having had so much success. She's certainly shown that talent will win out in the end.

She looks absolutely gorgeous performing her new single, "If This Isn't Love," and she makes Ryan look teeny-tiny, as always.

Much love for snagging an Oscar, a Grammy and returning to "Idol" to show how well you have done for yourself. Work it out J-Hud!!!

Top 7: The building of the bottom begins

Allison looks like she is on her way to the mall in that outfit, but I guess that's OK given her young age.

She's safe this week, which I think must be a relief for her if she  watched a playback of her performance.

Now here's a shocker: Adam is safe also!!!!

Next up is Anoop, and I get that little icky feeling in my tummy because he's always in the bottom three.

This week is no exception. Anoop is yet again in the bottom three.

How come I never noticed before that he has eyebrows like Bert from "Sesame Street"?

Top 7: The gang hits the red carpet

SQUEAL!!!

Zac Efron and the gang from "American Idol" all on one red carpet!

Pinch me, please!!!

And after that, go pull that hat off of Zac's head. Didn't his mama ever tell him you NEVER wear your hat indoors?!?!?

Top 7: What a group of maniacs

The chairs on stage look so lonely these days as the number continues to shrink.

I don't think I have ever heard a worse rendition of "Maniac." It was all over the place!

Is there anyone who really enjoys these group performances?

If the producers want to save some time and keep the show on schedule, perhaps they may want to consider cutting the group performances, which just feel like previews of the tour to me.

Top 7: The results are in, we just don't know them yet

** SPOILER ALERT: Wednesday night’s blog will eventually reveal the contestant leaving the show. Do not visit the final entry of the blog if you do not want to know the results.  **

Lots of folks are asking me who I think is going home tonight.

I may not be able to say for certainty who will be voted off, but I can tell you who won't be: Adam Lambert.

He's been tearing up the stage every week and even on the nights when he doesn't outsing everyone, he definitely outperforms the rest of the contestants.

The show just started, and I am freaked out by the announcer's voice and the flaming graphics.

Someone is getting voted off, not sent to hell for goodness sake!

And what in the world was that look Quentin Tarantino gave the camera all about? CREEPY!!!!
