Top 8: Did America get it right?

** SPOILER ALERT: This entry will reveal the contestant leaving the show. Do not continue to read this entry of the blog if you do not want to know the results. **

Things are getting even tighter as the number continues to be whittled down.

With only seven contestants now, contestants are really going to have to shine if they want to stay.

Do you agree with Scott MacIntyre's ouster? Who do you think will be next?

Top 8: It's over

**SPOILER ALERT: This entry may reveal the contestant leaving the show. Do not continue reading if you do not want to know the results.**

Scott tried, but you just knew that he knew.

Scott McIntyre

He sang his swan song, and it was as bad as the night before.

Two judges wanted to save him and two wanted him to go, but they decide not to use their save on them.

I thought Paula was going to burst into tears.

You came a long way, Scott. Kudos to you!

Top 8: The one who doesn't have to worry is ...

It comes down to a 30,000 vote difference, and Anoop is saved.

Scott must sing for his chance to stay.

It doesn't look good people!

Top 8: The person who is safe is ...

Lil Rounds!

She gets to try again next week, and I hope she pulls it together because viewers are clearly getting tired of her lackluster performances.

Now Anoop looks worried.

Top 8: Kellie Pickler has one of the best days

If I were a contestant, I would feel pretty heartened after watching Kellie Pickler perform her song "Best Days of Your Life."

Kellie Pickler

I would think to myself: "Self, if she has a career, then surely there is hope for little ol' me."

She seems to be having a great time performing, so good for her.

Love her look.

Top 8: We have our bottom three

Danny Gokey stands, and he is safe!

So much for the theory that the first to perform gets shuttled off to the bottom three spot.

Matt Giraud also escapes the bottom three.

Next up is Scott MacIntyre, and he is in the bottom three.

It's down to Allison Iraheta and Lil Rounds, and Lil is the unlucky one.

So in the bottom three are Anoop, Scott and Lil. Anoop looks chill (hey, he's been here before). Lil looks sad, and Scott has his usual grin going on.

Simon says there is one the judges would definitely consider saving. Who can it be now?

Top 8: Flo Rida spins their heads right round

Who was Flo Rida's back-up singer?

Flo Rida

I need her to try out for the show.

Is Flo Rida's song appropriate for the many young'uns that watch "AI" faithfully every week? I'm listening to the lyrics and hmmmm ...

Someone needs to explain to me what he's doing on this show. I love hip-hop just as much as the next person, but his appearance seems an odd pairing for tonight's show, even with a No. 1 song.

Top 8: The lights dim and ...

Adam, Kris and Anoop stand up, and you know Adam has nothing to worry about.

Did we really have to give the judges the opportunity to share their thoughts on his performance? I think Simon's standing O was enough.

Adam is safe.

Kris is safe and Anoop is back in the bottom three. Noop Dogg can't catch a break!

He needs to buy a nameplate for the bottom three he is there so much!

Top 8: I wish I could get them out of my head

Seriously, I can so do without these group performances.

The great eight sing Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out of My Head," and now I will have that stupid "La, la, la" stuck in my head all night!

Plus they didn't sound all that great.

Bring back Frankie Avalon!!!

Top 8: Frankie Avalon?

Why is Paula Abdul wearing long, white gloves with a bracelet?

I don't get that chick.

The judges recap their thoughts on last night's performances, and there are no surprises.

Holy crap on a cracker, what is Frankie Avalon doing on the show?

He's sings "Venus," and I feel like I am in some sort of "Twilight Zone." Was he just brought on so we can learn that Simon will be 50?

Frankie is looking fine though.
