Getting ahold of celebrities

Posted: 11:06 AM ET

Sometimes it can be hard to talk to celebrities –- even when it’s your job.

Thursday night I attended the “Australians in Film” event at the Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. The red carpet was rolled out and I had my questions ready for the “confirmed” celebrity guests, which were to include Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Abbie Cornish and several others. I stood there for a good three hours with my photographer … and talked to THREE people. The biggest celebrity of the night was Jesse Spencer from the show “House.”

But no worries. There was a highlight to my night - I literally saw more celebrities walking and driving in behind us than on the red carpet. Josh Hartnett walked by, and then Topher Grace, and the producer next to me thinks she saw Robert Downey Jr. drive off in his car. At one point, I asked my cameraman to just turn around and shoot the hotel guests behind us. After all, that’s where the action was.

O\OOOOHHH you poor thing!! People are starving and homeless and you didn't get your interview. My heart goes out to you......give me a break! get a dose of reality.

Tracy give it a break and stop being a downer.

I'm sure everyone's well aware of the economy right now and everything doesn't need to be about that. Let people have a little fun and take their minds off all that's negative right now.

Look, it could have went the other way.
Nichole or one of the others could have felt sorry for you, and given you a great interview.
The thing is, you were there, when you could have been at home sitting on your butt. It will happen for you, you just have to find the right angle.

The Sisterhood (and Brotherhood) of the Traveling Oscars

Fab to see Sophia, Eva Marie and Shirley Mac, etc, but REALLY didn't like this ceremonial, pass-the-torch ...procedure. Saccharine and clinical, if sincere, the speeches by Winners to the Noms were a little uncomfortable and BORING.
Where were clips of the best, most powerful moments of the performances, reminding us of the chills we got from the actors we're celebrating?

And somebody's gotta say it, "Please cut the silly dance numbers."

Absolutely, hands down, the best Oscar show ever! Everyone at work, and all my friends could not stop talking about it! Hugh Jackman was terrific! For the first time I actually watched the show from beginning to end!
