I didn't want this merger (or, more appropriate, Hostile takeover) from the start. Everyone talked about how it was the only way they would both survive, but I can't believe that. If Sirius or XM failed, someone would come along, buy them out and rebuild with a better business model.
But no. Now we all have to just deal with it. I bought into XM for Opie & Anthony back in 2004 and fell in love with the music (Squizz, Lucy, Ethel). Uncensored music, fantastic variety and DJs that did their job with very little improv. Now, Sirius pushes their DJs and their format into the equation. DJs talk in to the songs and "hit the posts" like they are on FM, the same GnR Metallica and Disturbed songs 5 times a day (and I LOVE Disturbed). Why can't the DJs say the name of the new Crue song? It's not called "M F'ers of the World" and it's on an XL channel. If it's because your DJ doubles on a Christian rock channel, then she doesn't belong on Octane!
I've already warned my family that I may be cancelling XM. As soon as O&A are finished with the BS that Sirius is dishing out, I will be cancelling and resorting to downloading MP3s to my phone and making it my primary source for ALL of my entertainment.
Way to go, Mel... you managed to destroy one of the most innovative entertainment sources since TV. Thanks.

I have just called the corporate office (202-380-4000) to leave a message of my discontent. Channel 83 needs to be reinstated. (I'm sorry, but 7 and 64 do not replace.) Since the merger I hear 1 song an hour that I want to hear. I don't hear Boogie Nights anymore like I used to.... The whole thing of playing no so happy mood songs is not going to keep me a subscriber. I'm not paying for 2nd rate music, right artist - wrong song, etc. So please lets get on the ball. I will discontinue if they keep playing crap. We need to voice our dissatisfaction and hopefully we will get somewhere. HELP

I have both or had both. I got Sirius just for Stern but listened to XM. They had better music and deeper and obscure tracks not just the same tracks you can hear on terrestrial radio. My fav station was the Boneyard. Totally blows away Hair Nation. I hear Boneyard is coming back in 09 but with a different format. Sirius sure blew this deal....

Leave it to SIRUS to take what used to be included under XM's basic service and start charging extra for it. They took NASCAR from XM and now they combined, they want more money for it. I guess I will probably stop my subscription. Just because I want to hear a NASCAR race doesn't mean I want to listen to Playboy. What a rip off!!

I hate this merger. Ethel is gone and replaced with a poor substitute. Now we get to hear edited versions of songs. Also, I chose XM originally because it DIDN't have that idiot Stern on it. The baseball channel is the only reason I haven't canceled it yet. Lose the DJ's, and the repetition. Listen to your customers.

I am very disappointed. First they take the punk channel and turn it into 24/7 ACDC.
Then they lie to me (and many others who phoned or wrote to complain) and said punk would be back.
Now more good channels are gone. How many talk channels do we need?
Do subscribers really want channels that only play one band? Recession or no recession
they have shot themselves in the foot, the only advantage they have is being the only show in town.
And yes I pay for radio when I am a trucker in Canada where there are no stations at all the satellite can be great.
Well it was great, now I have over 100 channels of junk I don't want to hear.
But I still have Ellis, Howard (yawn) and half a dozen one band stations :(
I will cancel by the end of January if no improvement.

Another dissapointed XM subscriber here. Ethel was a great station, and now there's annoying DJs on it with lame unwanted quips. This is not change for the better. I don't care about Howard Stern. I am glad that the baseball channel hasn't changed, though. Why was this merger allowed to happen? Now there is no competition, and the customer gets an inferior product. I hope it fails. I'm cancelling my subscription when it is up for renewal.
