Getting into the Kodak Theatre isn’t easy, even if you have the right credentials. We requested access to shoot “behind the scenes” and it took a few stops and starts — but we finally made it into the hallowed venue to get a glimpse.

Jon Stewart

Jon Stewart is hosting the Academy Awards for the second time.

The Academy is keeping much of the Oscar telecast under wraps, and made it very clear about what we could and could not shoot. For example, we were able to shoot the placards showing where the stars would sit, but we could not show where the placards were placed in the theater. They did not want people to know where the stars would be sitting in relation to each other and the stage.

The stage itself was also off-limits. “It’s supposed to be a surprise,” the Academy said.

At this point you’re probably wondering exactly what we were able to shoot. Well, we got a surprising amount of material. Brooke Anderson has this guided tour.

Is anyone really interested in the backstage stuff? Not me. I am only watching for Jon Stewart and if there is anything exciting that takes place.

I thought the Red Carpet interviews by Ryan Seacrest were a waste of time but Jon Stewart was fantastic. Smart and witty saves the evening.
With all the talent this production is supposed to have why is it always so boring?

All of this commotion about the academy i really like seeing the people get the awards but why should they get the awards if they did not even do all that good some people get awards when they dont even really do a good job well i guess that is jus my opinion

Jon Stewart was the best part of the show this year. Well, him and some of the people to win gave decent acceptance speeches. The videos and clips they showed, for the most part, were duds. I’ve watched the Oscars in previous years and got a kick out of the video clips they’d put together. This year, just thinking of them helped me go to sleep after the show was over.

The stars are over rated and paid. I have never watched any of these shows and really don’t think they are any better than anyone else. I will never understand why the pulbic is so interested in them. This show is an opportunity for them to show the world how great they are..I’d rather watch paint dry.

Oh and another thing- the Internet will one day make movie stars obsolete…it is happening already…anyone could be a star in the future…

I stopped watching The Oscars years ago. Jon in a funny guy, no doubt. But the ceremony is a political put-on. Those trophies are campaigned for by those who receive them. Long gone are the days when those who deserved the statue were awarded them.

That’s my 2 cents.

To be honest, the Oscar’s just kind of suck any more. The lame jokes from the presenters, and how it just drags on endlessly……….. I think the Oscar’s either need a major “entertainment value” overhaul, or they need to just dry up and go away. I mean how many awards banquets do these people need anyway?

Could it be that all of this backstage stuff is to sidetrack you from the fact that the Acting is lackluster and that todays stars are a mere shell of yesterdays ACTORS, All the build up and re carpet and fancy so called secrecy are basically distractions to get you off the fact that acting and actors sure arent what they used to be. Boob Jobs and Drunken feets, TMZ and Scandals do far more for these so called actors then trying to produce a memorable movie that took skills not a silicone Pump.
